I asked this before but it never got answered so I am asking it again. I was wondering would anyone happen to have the menu or can remember the foods that Sugar Loaf for the 5:00 PM Hors D'Ouvres and the 8:00 PM Deserts? Since they serve the same foods as Royal Palm does, I guess it does not matter if someone who stayed there replied to my question.

I would also like to hear what they serve at the SL. I would love to see pictures if anyone has any to share. If anything, what would be the biggest difference between the SL and the RP? Thanks.

This is just a guess of mine but since Royal Palm and Sugar Loaf both serve the same foods, I would think the biggest difference is when eating in the lounges. In Royal Palm I guess you could hear the band playing and seeing all the guests, where as the Sugar Loaf lounge might be more quiet and etc.

I was thinking the same thing, but the hard choice is which one to choose!
For my family it was based on the cost of the rooms. While it would be great to stay at Royal Palm, the cost is to expensive.

The funny thing is after we made our reservations for Sugar Loaf the Cast Member from CRO who did them accidentally had us staying in Royal Palm, when I checked our reservation online. So after my Dad called CRO back and got it fixed so we could stay in Sugar Loaf, I made a joke and said for a few minutes we had a reservation for Royal Palm. :lmao:

In a word, ambiance. RPC is much roomier, it's brighter, more seating, spread out, 2 private balconies, much more convenient to the monorail and bus, interior balcony overlooks the main lobby, in the late afternoons, there's a piano player, followed by the GF Orchestra playing on the balcony below.

SL is pretty much self contained in the main floor lobby, ie that's where the staff sits, the food setup is and the seating. It can be pretty crowded at times. Feels more like a bed & breakfast. Because the lounge is in the middle of the building, there's no view, making it a bit darker and for some, that can translate to cozy.

For photo links, look at post #5. I'd also add that Channing has posted pics from the RPC on page 52.

This past August when my family and I went to Gasparilla's I noticed they were selling Sushi so my Dad bought some and he thought it was very good. Anyway a few days later when we went back they were not selling it, so maybe it was just sold out for the evening. However when I checked the menus on wdwinfo.com and allearsnet.com they don't have an updated menu for Gasparilla's which says they sell Sushi and the menu from there which I took home also does not list it. So I am wondering was Gasparilla's just experimenting with selling Sushi or they were just sold out when we went back again?

SOrry can't answer but I can say I bought in at Capt. Cooks at the Poly Nov. 07 and they had it the whole week we were there. Then we stayed AKL June 0f this year they did not have it in their food court.:confused3 I just assumed they would all have it but it never showed up the 6 days we were there.:headache: I agree with your Dad it was very good and fresh.

we were just there in november and when we ate at gasparilla's they were selling sushi - in fact, that's what my daughter had and she said it was very good...

Does anyone have the site address for purchasing the H2O spa products? Seems like I've seen it on this thread.

Not sure if their is a published 'menu'. Each night was different. I remember a type of bacon wrapped scallop, stuffed mushroom caps, grey meat on a stick cheeses and meats(at breakfast too). There was always a vegetable combo also. Ratatouille, or steamed flavored veggies in a small glass cup. I'll ask the DW and see if we can come up with more. Can someone else add their memories as to what was served?

We weren't around at the 5 - 7 pm offerings much this time, but from what I remember and what I saw the couple times were were there it seems they have a nightly theme going on. There isn't supposed to be any difference in what's offered in SL vs RPC. It is the lounge itself that holds the biggest differenc. Tammi hit the nail on the head.

One night was Asian and there were potstickers and spring rolls, little salads, etc...

Another night was kind of Southwestern with diff little salads, taquitos, and southwest dips & veggies....they always have tiny little servings of special salads etc. and crackers and veggies, too.

Some nights are a Mediterranean taste....Greek olives, salads, the gray meat on a stick with tsatsiki or yogurt sauce, etc....

I think they do an Italian theme, too. Those are what I remember from this trip and the past. They repeat a lot. I can't say I've seen much new.

They also have kids' offerings which I sometimes eat. They have had fish or chicken nuggests, pb & js, ham or turkey rollups, and kid treats.

PS....I saw sushi at Gaspies often during our Thanksgiving stay.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

Could someone tell me the approximate time schedule for the food service in SL. I'd like to plan our meals around it. Since we're paying the extra $$$$ for it, I don't want to miss it.

Also, how much of a meal is the afternoon and evening offerings? We had stayed on the club floor of the Grand Hyatt in Aruba and we found we barely ate in restaurants, there was so much food provided for in the lounge.

I'm thinking we'll do a large lunch like a character buffet and dine in the lounge for breakfast and a lite dinner. Is this possible?

How do you all plan your meals when you stay in SL or RPC?

Appreciate all your wonderful advice!!
Mare

The food is more like snack besides the breakfast. I think that the apps at dinner could be a heavy snack but my kids would snack on something later, but not have a full meal.
Here is the schedule we were given we we checked in July 2007

Wow! Thanks for posting the welcome letter! That's really helpful!

Oh, I know it's not exactly a full meal, but if we have a big buffet lunch the snacks should be enough for a lite dinner.

A few more questions: (sorry!)
Do they offer kid fare in the evenings? Like nuggets or mini pizzas?
Can you get beverages 24 hours?
Do they have milk on hand at all times for the kids?

A room question:
Since they provide food offerings, do they still provide you with a fridge in the room? I'll need one for the kids milk. My son has a bad habit of waking in the middle of the night for a sip or two of milk.

Would the CMs be able to freeze an ice pack for our cooler every night? This might be a pita, but there's no freezer section in the fridges.

(We had to have room service freeze our ice pack on a cruise one year. We'd drop it off at the main desk every evening, then on our room service tray - which we had to order in order to get the ice pack back - they'd get our ice pack out of the medical fridge. It was a pita for all involved, but it was necessary on hot days for my son's milk)

Thanks for all your help!
Mare
