Here are some photos of the view from the back side of Sago Cay - garden view, overlooking the monorail!

Looking right, with monorail

k&a&c'smom, wonderful pictures. It's a rainy, cold day in NJ a far cry from how it looks in those pictures. I love the monorail shot, funny how small it looks in a picture like that.

It is a really yucky day here.....thank you k&a&c'smom. Not a bad view at all:lovestruc

lulu'smom You are very welcome

I had sent a letter regarding my recent Grand Floridian stay to Disney guest relations (relating basically the same stuff I posted here) and I received a call back from Disney regarding my experience on Monday. One item I wanted to pass on--though I can't confirm its veracity, it's just what I was told by the cast member who called me--is that the Grand is currently undergoing a room-by-room "furniture renovation," that is supposed to replace or rehab any broken and/or stained furniture pieces in the rooms. I was told it would take "several months" to complete.

Again, I can't confirm if this is accurate info, or just something he was told to say in response to my concerns, but thought I'd pass it along in case anyone here was interested. (NOTE: I have no reason to think it's untrue, just can't confirm for myself that it is and know there's a history of receiving conflicting and/or inaccurate, intentionally or not, information from differing Disney employees, so wanted to add that caveat.)

Jungle Cruiser - I know, it does look small from that perspective! I'd love it if we were having that sunny weather, too.

pas130 - It is overcast and cold here today, too, but I shouldn't complain - we've had unusually beautiful weather here the last couple weeks.:sunny:

I agree, the back side of Sago sounds like a bad view, but in reality, it is pretty good! Better than overlooking the dreaded pool house from the lower floors of BPK.:thumbsup2

coopersmom - thanks for the update, and the info. I understand your caveat, it seems almost a given there will be conflicting answers to any question.:headache: I hope this is correct, as some of the rooms obviously need a little TLC.

This is my 1,000th post! party:party:

I joined the DISboards at age 11(!) not because of my love for WDW (although I do love it), but because of my love for WDW resorts. Looking back, I realize that it was quite unusual for an 11-yr old to have such a strong interest in hotel room rates and view categories. I used to pass myself off as a "mom" in my earliest posts since I loved giving hotel advice and thought that no one would even consider the opinions or credibility of someone so young. Nearly eleven years later (how fitting), I am an adult and still just as in love with Disney resort planning as I was as an 11-yr old. :lovestruc Thank you all so much for contributing to this wonderful online community. The Disney Resorts forum has been and always will be the forum I identify with most on the DIS.

I thought it was fitting to post here since this is the thread I have been taking advantage of most since we booked the GF for our upcoming December stay. :santa: I have so appreciated seeing all of the beautiful GF pictures on here and reading the helpful information/tips! We have only stayed at the GF once before and that stay was quite brief, so I feel like my mom and I have so much more to explore this time around!

Here's to another 11 years on the DIS boards. :)

I will be happy if the kiddos get a nice day for Halloween :goodvibes Also, thankful clocks won't go back until after trick-or-treat day :woohoo:

This rain with it being dark in the morning........hard to get up and go :surfweb:

Thanks Lulu's Mom!

Great shots everybody!

Today's installment.

Wow, KCmike! I have walked down that staircase many, many times over the years, but have never seen it from the perspective. Amazing!

Hi everyone. we are all packed and ready to go. Our daughter has no idea we are taking her to Disney tomorrow, I can't wait to wake her up and tell her she's going to disney. Our flight leaves tomorrow at 7 a.m. and we should be at the GF by 11. Let me know if anyone has any questions--I'll try to post while we are gone.

How exciting!!! :yay:

Have a wonderful trip!!!:cloud9:

KCMike and Midge~ aaaahhhhh!

Been tweaking with our dates as DS turns 21 in May and it needs to be after his college classes are out and before summer classes begin. And the queen deluxe isn't available for one night during the perfect weekend in between!

Like I said, still tweaking, gives me something to do inbetween the bloodwork and tests.
Love and hugs to you all, especially Jungle Cruiser! :grouphug:

What a fantastic distraction.....you know you have my prayers andbest wishes, and I will be following your "tweaks" for 2012  A RPC King room opened for one night on my weekend trip, and it took everything in my power not to grab it....trying to budget a little AND DD7 would never forgive me if I stayed at the Grand without her :goodvibes

mariamouse - congrats on the 1000th post!:jumping1: How wonderful that you started so young, and have been at it so long, very dedicated! Here's to another 11 years.:goodvibes

pas130 - I know what you mean, hoping for a good Halloween for the kids. We have the most perverse weather here, with warm temps until the day before.:headache:

What self control, to pass on the RPC king room!;)

mssmith1026 - One more sleep, yay!:dance3: You must be so excited, how did you pack without the DD figuring it out?! Safe travels, and have a Grand vacation.

ETA: you might ask the cast members if Christmas music is broadcast outdoors, that seems to be a question no one can answer!

KC Mike - love the photo of the staircase, and the boat dock! Let's all head to the Poly for breakfast.:cutie:

Lulu's Mom - those college schedules can put a crimp in the best laid plans.:headache: Good luck with your tweaking, and your testing.

What I won't do for my kids :goodvibes Killed me though.....still is! We will have a great trip. I am nursing a newly broken foor, so the CR will be perfect for us (even though we are doing F&W, the MK will be where I am the most :lovestruc

KCMike I can remember EWP and Wishes from the boat dock....wish I was there....

mssmith1026 Good job keeping the secret :thumbsup2 Have a fantastic trip!!!!

Thank you, k&a&c'smom. You're so sweet. :flower3:

I just wanted to add that, since posting that question about Christmas music being broadcast outdoors, I found the video below. At 0:50, you can hear "Deck the Halls" being played below the monorail entrance at valet. Starting at 7:20, you can also hear "The First Noel" faintly being played near Gasparilla's/the marina. Not sure if music is always played at either of these locations or where else Christmas music might be broadcast outside, though.

pas130 - Oh, my! So sorry to hear about your broken foot, what a terrible time for an injury - though I don't know a good time. Have you decided to use a scooter? I hope so; on the first night of our trip last summer, I stood for way too long in the MK, waiting on MSEP and Wishes. My hip and knee did not take it very well, and after a day of trying to hobble around the parks, DD insisted I order a scooter - what a big help! I'm a huge supporter now, it made such a difference for me. We were able to continue our trip, and DD didn't have to slow way down for ol' Mom.;)

mariamouse - aww, thanks. And thank you for the link, it does verify there is music outdoors, at least near the main building!:thumbsup2 I'll bet it plays at the boat dock, too.
