Hello, everyone!:wave2: We've been in WDW for a week, we stayed at the BC this trip, but had tea at the GF on 2 days. Got a few photos of the showers and dressing area of the themed pool building, I'll try to upload them in the next couple days.

Hope everyone who has been at the GF in the last couple weeks had a great time, and anyone preparing to leave soon will have a Grand vacation.:goodvibes

When I have more time, I need to read all I missed while I was away.:flower3:

Welcome back! I hope you had a great time. I love BC --- so convenient to EPCOT.

Thanks for the welcome back, everyone!:grouphug: I did have a wonderful time, thank you so much for the well wishes.

pas130 - no worries, I didn't talk about my trip much, since I was defecting to the BC.

KC Mike - what a great shot, as always.:thumbsup2

Don't feel bad, I'm defecting to WL for Novemeber (that may change)! I am glad you had a great trip :lovestruc, but selfishly glad to have you back :cool1:

Welcome back k&a&c'smom! I hope you had a great time at Disney. No matter where you stay, Disney is magical:wizard:

I know that when driving to the Grand Floridian and wanting to self park that parking lot is across the street, then before getting into that parking lot we will need to press a button for the gate to open since we won't be staying there, because guests staying there insert their Key To The World cards for it to open. Anyway the last time we were there in December 2010 as we left the Grand Floridian and were driving down Floridian Way back to the Boardwalk Inn I saw a car going in the other direction and turned into the self parking lot. Now chances are that person was staying there, however what I found funny is they didn't go through the guard shack which is what you do at the other resorts, even at the ones you are staying at. Well I was wondering when we want to visit the Grand Floridian and go to Gasparilla's should we do what that car did, which is go down Floridian Way and turn into their self parking lot without going through their guard shack? If that's wrong obviously we won't do it and I keep thinking to myself that still doesn't seem right? It's just I feel like it takes longer going through their guard shack, then following the path to their self parking lot and the fact just before is a traffic light.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but when you go straight to the self parking, you need your key card to open the gate. It's one of those arms that lift up.

They also have a button you press for the gate to open if you want to park there and are not staying at the Grand Floridian. It's how we have been able to self park there in the past.

Wow!!!!! What a great thread! I have enjoyed reading everythilng about the Grand Floridian. My husband and I, my teenage daughter and her friend will be staying for our first "Grand" visit September 17th. We are very excited. We will be staying in the Sugar Loaf Buildilng.

We have been going to Disney World for 18 years and have stayed at CBR, CS, POR, POFQ, WL, Poly and, now, the Grand Floridian. We ate there at the counter service last year because the counter service at the Poly is not very good. I took a few photos and here are a few:

Ok, I admit it, I'm a chronic resort changer, but when I booked the GF I was finally content, I dropped my deposit and had no plans to change again. However... I just read that the construction walls have been extended down the beach and the Spa is closing next week for 18-20 months to accomodate the DVC construction. OMG, they are extending it that far? It's a h-e-double hockey sticks of a lot of money to sit at the pool listening to sounds of construction and be surrounded by construction walls. I'm a little nervous.

So as of like the 14th it will no longer be the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. I guess they are planning on bussing guests who want spa services over to the spa at Saratoga Springs.

Oh that doesn't sound so nice now does it.:scared1::sad2::sad1: We are there in June 2012 so I take it the construction walls will still be in place at that time. Ok I just figured out where the walls were. :faint:

Where did you see that. You're right that does sound bad ... And just when I too thought I was satisfied.

Anyone have any more details? I didn't see any mention in the WDW Info or All Ears rehab/construction areas.

Ok I just googled the Grand Floridan DVC Construction and a you tube video of the construction walls came up. Not sure if I can post the link to the video. They are under the monorail side.
