Thanks k&a&c'smom! Great photo. You complete me! :lmao:

Nicely put :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ali I love the rainbow pictures....we caught a rainbow leaving MK on our last day...I will never forget the magical feeling :goodvibes

Oh! All these pictures are awesome! :cloud9:
Really made my day to see these today!

Did online check in today :cool1: and it gave us an option for BPK and BC. Weird why only those 2 choices? I have never even seen choices before on the online check in. We did Boca Chica to hopefully avoid a construction view.

Wow, I've never heard of this before, either. Cool.:thumbsup2

Online check in means you're nearly there, yay!

Hi! I am a new poster to this thread and I have been trying to read it all. So I am sorry if this has been asked before. We are hoping to stay at the Grand in June. We have never stayed here before but have visited the resort for dining etc. on several occasions. Will the construction keep us from enjoying our stay? Is there a particular room location to request that is farthest from the construction? We were also interested in the movie on the beach, the water parade, and plan on walking to the Poly for breakfast one morning. Will this still be possible with the construction?

I am loving all these pictures!! I am getting so excited for next week!! Only 8 more days
to wait!!!! I ordered a mini wedding cake for our 40th anniversary, can't wait to see it.

Welcome!:goodvibes Congrats on your first stay at the Grand!

Hopefully, the construction won't be too noticeable in June, but tough to say at this point. We have several posters going between now and then, so if you check in here periodically, you should get a sense of how the construction is affecting the rest of the resort.

If you want to request the furthest building from the construction, that would be Sago Cay. I don't know what catgetory you have booked, but you can request this building for garden view and theme park view (possibly lagoon view).

The movie on the beach is no longer possible, as the beach is under construction, but the movie has been moved to the courtyard pool. No camp fire.

The path to the Poly is still open, and is projected to remain open throughout construction.:thumbsup2

HTH!:sunny: If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you for the tips. Thats a bummer that there won't be a beach movie or campfire. But we can enjoy the pool movie. :goodvibes I will make sure to keep reading posts for updates!

You are very welcome!:goodvibes It is too bad about the movie on the beach, and especially the camp fire. Everyone seems to be enjoying the pool movie, though.

I forgot to answer about the Electrical Water Pageant - it is still going, so good news there.:thumbsup2 We so love this little parade!

BTW - howdy, neighbor. We live in Missouri, too.

Speaking of the EWP, I forgot to mention what happened when we went down to the dock to watch in November...whatever boats and LARGE ferries happened to be passing at the time, stopped where they were to allow the passengers to watch the EWP, which is nice for them - however, the view from the dock was obstructed enough to make it a major annoyance. DD and I, who rarely complain when we're visiting our Happy Place, were kinda bummed about it. I am not an elitist by any stretch of the imagination, but I actually paid to stay at the GF, and I don't think it's asking too much to want an unobstructed view. There was plenty of water space available that would have allowed us and the passengers a great view.

OK, enough with the negativity on this happy thread...carry on!

:sunny:

phyllis66 - Sorry to hear your EWP viewing was marred, very frustrating.

We've been on the launch when the EWP was at either the GF or MK, and the boat captain (pilot? I can never remember their title, lol) said it was a rule they have to stop for water safety reasons. Not much consolation when their position blocks the view of the resorts! Sounds like they may have been trying to make it to the dock ahead of the parade, but got caught.:headache:

So excited for you and Jim! One week left! :woohoo:
You're going to love the Grand! It'll become your second home, next to the BWI. :cutie:

Hi everyone.... really I'm just posting because I want to see my ticker, :cool1: but while I'm here I will ask...

Does anyone have pictures of the shops? And does anyone know if there is a place at the GF that sells champagne (not through room service or at a restaurant/bar, I mean)?

And I saw a few posts ago that someone checked in online and had a choice of buildings. Anyone else have this experience? I'd love to take advantage of something like that!

TIA!

KerryCM - I agree with Lulu'sMom, the GF is going to be your next favorite resort.:goodvibes:

Figment1990 - LOL about checking your ticker. There are a number of photos of the shops on the first page, I'll have to go look at the post number. ETA: There are some photos in post #5, but I have a few more - not sure how I missed posting them, unless that post hit the character limit. I'll find the rest and post them here.

I have seen at least one type of champagne at Sandy Cove, I'll see if I can find a photo of the cooler. I think it was the Iron Horse Fairytale Cuvee, but not sure. At any rate, they sell several wines in the cooler and liquor cabinet at Sandy Cove.

pmaurer is the first person I've heard of who got a choice of buildings for their online check in. I hope it is a new trend, though I'm not a fan of online check in overall. Both times we used it we had issues at the desk.

Sandy Cove photos

Liquor cabinet, you can barely see the wines at the bottom (pretty sure Rosa Regale was there)

K&a&c'smom, wonderful pictures of the shops! I absolutely love Basin White! The bath bombs, the soy candles, ahhh the wonderful smells. :lovestruc

I am a bit behind, KCMike I loved your photo of the photo of the wooden arbor over the pool area. Such a cool shot. By the way, any news of a possible trip to WDW with your kid's marching band next year?

I was in touch with the GF IPO today, putting in a room request (we like the first floor of SL) and asked for an early checkin if possible. They were really nice, couldn't promise anything but said they would try. ;).

Sounds like there are a couple of posters checking in at the GF soon. Very exciting

Lulu'smom, your trip is only in a few weeks! You must be getting so excited my friend  I am hoping you will get over to the GF at least once. Think of k&a&c'smom and I when you are there! We will be there in spirit!

Still recycling photos...new ones can be taken in 50 days!

We got the breakdown for the trip. $1200 per person. They drive by motorcoach all night. First day ocean and check in, 2nd day SeaWorld, 3rd day Universal, 4th day Isle of Adventures, and then drive back home by motorcoach all night. They will also visit medieval times for dinner one night and see blue man group.

We weren't expecting the trip to cost this much. If all of us went that would be a pretty steep investment when we weren't planning on going back or doing a vacation that year. We have until March 23rd to make up our minds.

I'm really not interested in seeing all the above things but I want the kids to be able to go down with their friends and experience the band event.

I'll keep you posted. Thanks for remembering.

PS. The news of snow white's scary adventures makes me sad. Why close it and put in more meet and greets?

Wow, that does seem a bit expensive considering there are no airfares. How long of a drive is it to WDW from your area? I completely understand what you are saying about wanting your kids to experience the trip with their friends, especially since I believe you said they were going to be freshman. Too bad the trip isn't a few days at WDW, playing in the MK. Good luck, hope it all works out.

It is too bad about Snow White, heck I still miss Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!

A shot of the GF from the California Grill!

Think of me too lulu's mom :goodvibes And I can close my eyes and picture myself in Summer Lace right now....speaking of GF, HRH needs more shampoo/conditioner...off to H2O website!!! Our YC suite had the same toiletries (did't say GF though) ang I only have 2 left....good luck with your SL request, they are very very nice!!!
