The NEW DVC member website is up and running!!

I tried booking online,,,everything was fine until the end, got an error message...went back in and my trip was there, points were taken, but then it all went back to like I had never booked it when I went to add magical express...

I'm afraid to book again online

For those freaking out (or will be), need to take a deep breath, we all know with any site change a few bumps will occur while they tweak and adjust. I can't log in right now, was going to add flight info for Disney Express, I'll try later or tomorrow.

With all the changes I can't even imagine how much work is done on the backend.

That's why all of the back end work and testing should be done well before going live with a site, particularly one that such a large group of customers rely on for time sensitive transactions.

Count me as one who is not very impressed yet with the very bland, integrated look of the My Disney Experience websites and the new DVC work... Not eye popping at all...

It reminds me of the way websites looked in the mid 1990's...

Exactly how I feel. It looks very AOL-1996. Not sure why people are so excited about this.

Also, if you guys go read the threads on the new Disney website (non dvc), there's tons of kinks on the new website and tons of complaints about it.

I'm using IE7 and can't sign in. Totally useless.... Do the tools at the IT department just roll changes out without testing!

Upgrade to IE8, no problems here. Microsoft lists on their website that they will not support IE7 in a few more months.

Simply Disney IT at its best again. Not sure why they are so horrible. I find the ABC site just as bad. They seem to have a roll it out and fix it mentality. Maybe they feel that they are simply not able to test all scenarios and that there will be issues no matter how hard they try, so they roll it out and let us be there BETA testers.

Loving the new website. I'm so glad they finally got rid of that flash animation. When I go to the DVC site I'm there looking for information, not entertainment.:surfweb:

I guess we're the minority here? I'm usually very tolerant of changes but I can't stand how it looks/feels!!! Old 90's AOL is exactly right--I couldn't put my finger on it before, but that's it!

I thought it was very unfriendly...everything runs together, left justified and having to scroll and scroll to see everything.

No matter how many times I looked up and down at the pages, I felt like I couldn't see anything! I know that sounds crazy...yes my upcoming vacations were there, but other than that--BLECK!

Hopefully it will improve!

How well is this new interface working for those with visual difficulties? The dashboard has fonts ranging from tiny to huge. They'd be best to go with 2 sizes and utilize color to offset the areas. I have a coworker who's legally blind and he complains often of pages with a variety of sized fonts. In order for his reader to work he has to highlight the area to read. Small fonts 'hide' among large ones and reading a simple page can become a frustrating game of hide and seek for him. Of all companies, I'd think Disney would be among the top of tech companies making their pages easy to use by all.

I believe what folk are referring to with the new templates being reminiscent of the turn of the millennium web pages is all about color and font. The older style like what we see in the reservation pages still bugged me horribly when I became a member in '08. It felt very amateurish, however, I grew used to it and now like it. The color blocks made it easy to see the areas of information and how they're separated from the other colored areas. The new 'professional' look is not relaxing to read and makes it difficult to sort out information. As others have said: it all runs together. Can you imagine the mess if they try to bring the 'new' style into the reservations pages? I fear we may see this soon.

I'd prefer if they returned to the old templates and fixed their log-in issues that have plagued their sites for years and years and years... THAT is unprofessional.

You're better off calling MS to confirm it went through.

I'm not so crazy about the site revamp at this point. I work as a web developer and we typically don't roll out a new site until it has been extensively tested and declared ready by everyone involved in the project. Of course, glitches will always come up afterward, but there always appear to be more than typical on Disney web sites. I doubt they have incompetent IT professionals -- it's probably more likely the directive to rush to "get it out there".

I just tried my IPad and the site worked for the first time in months!

Interesting. The drop down menu items at the top of the homepage don't work on my iPad. If I click on them I cannot choose anything below. Do these work for you?

Yes. It opens and shows a list, I then touch the one in that list to select it.

That is crazy. Using Safari? IOS 6.0.1? I am using an HD iPad. Could the iPad hardware matter? I don't get it.

Yes, using Safari and same iOS version. My iPad is a 3rd generation (last one with the full size dock connector).

Okay. I just tried landscape and everything works but if I turn back to portrait it doesn't work. That is nuts.

The patient says, "Doctor, it hurts when I do this."

The doctor replies, "Then don't do that!"

Yea, that left justified is throwing off my eye. I feel like it's hard to organize the information and its hard to find the info. I actually like the old site interface much better. That had a column for everything, and it was easy to scan. The new site forces you to actually scroll down---who has time for that?
