hi,all. does anyone know which buildings are designated non-smoking? i know the conch key was one, but i think they've recently added more non-smoking rooms/buildings. thanks in advance.

We are seriously considering doing the GF in Dec. Never been to GF before or WDW at Christmas for that matter.

Can anyone tell me how spread out is the resort. I have a hold on a garden view room. Just wondering how long a walk it would be from Conch Key or Boca Chica to the main building or the bus stop?

Thanks

The resort is perfect! We usually stay in Boca Chica and it is close to the "quiet" pool and boat dock. It is a nice 5-minute stroll to the Lobby and monorail...unless you have a physical impairment I wouldn't give it a thought...Sago Cay is the most remote, so it may feel further from the action, but I would highly recommend Boca Chica (Conch would be the same - very convenient). Its GV rooms (mostly) face the quiet pool and beyond it the main building which is so beautiful, especially all lit up at night! You will love it! Enjoy!

good evening all. another question, please. would anyone have a picture of the sugar loaf bldg? i'm pretty sure cali's thread states that there are dormer rooms in that building and i could swear i noticed them there the last time i stayed there. however, i called the gf front desk and a cm said that the sugar loaf had no dormer rooms. since "a picture is worth a thousand words," can anyone help?

Here is a site that has pictures of the actual tubs that are in the room. They look like 2 person tubs. floor plan

To me this would be the Honeymoon Suite size compared to the rest. Check them all out though.

that is actually a deluxe concierge room, two people would be a tight fit in the jacuzzi tubs

Also sugarloaf does have dormer rooms!!

Hi all,

My DW and I were thinking of treating our DDs (13 & 11) to the My First Facial treatment at the GF Spa. Wondering if anyone has any personal experience they could share.

TIA

One more.
Can someone explain the layout of the lodge buildings? Does each building have a "main" entrance? Is there a lobby or common sitting area in each building?
Or are they like a motel with a door that opens into a hallway, where the room doors are?

Thanks

The Lodge buildings all have main entrances and loby areas that are very nice! They have some chairs and tables and a nice flower arrangement on a table as you walk in. They are decorated similarly to the Main loby only on a smaller scale! We have stayed at GF several times, if you have any other questions, I'll be happy to help!

jacksmom - Thanks for the information and the nice offer.

This will be our first time at GF (Dec. 04). So looking forward to it.

Well we are counting down and getting very excited about our first Grand Floridian stay. I was wondering what we shouldn't miss at the hotel itself. We will be going going going and we know there is a lot to see out side of the hotel. We may never stay there again so what should we not miss out on? If there is anyone that could give us directions to places in the hotel that would be nice too. Thank you!!

Make sure that you make time to sit in the lobby during the evening and listen to the band. It is a great place to rest and refresh and it doesn't cost anything. I also would make sure that you try the afternoon tea. The servers are so friendly and the food was wonderful . (My 12 year old is begging that we do the tea more than once on our next trip.) We also enjoyed watching the fireworks from our room and just sitting on the balcony. When your tired from the parks, this hotel is perfect for recharging and getting ready to go again. I think you will really enjoy the GF. Have Fun!

The lounge chairs for two out on the beach are very nice. There's also a nice little walkway between the GF and the Poly. We've encountered bunnies, ducks, turtles and an alligator eating watermelon on some of our walks. If you don't have a castle view room, you can sit at one of the tables located outside of Gasparilla's Grill. This is a great spot to see the fireworks. The boat dock is also perfect for viewing the electric water parade in the evening.

I posted this question earlier but haven't heard a response. So I just thought I would repost in case someone could help me.

I am wondering what some of the specific offerings are in the RPC for the different servings throughout the day. I have seen the times of the servings and a brief description but not any more detail. I do realize that it is only appetizers. I just like to know what to expect when I get there.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Myra

I was just wondering how the pirate cruise was for the kids? My kids are 5 and 8 and I wasn't sure if my 8 y.o was too old? Also I heard that they serve PB&J? How long is it?

I hope the following photos help:
Royal Palm Club Lounge
Afternoon Offerings
Evening Offerings

I'm sorry that I don't have any photos to share of the morning offerings.

How many floors are on the lodge buildings?

I just took a look at some of my Grand Floridian photos. It appears that most of the lodge buildings are five stories tall in certain parts. If you take a look at this photo (click here), you will see what I mean.

My daughter has done the Pirates Cruise for quite a few years now, most recently last month. I wrote about one of her prior cruises in a trip report -- click here to view it (just look for the post entitled, "Grand Floridian Day Three, Part 1"). My post contains her words, so you'll see what the cruise is about from a child's perspective.

Janet2k,

Thank you for the pictures. They made me very hungry and gave me a better idea of what to expect.
