No sooner did I post my question here about which concierge I have I rec'd a response from GF Planning. (This they read this thread?) They basically said they do not know where my suite is because they can't see my reservation until 10 days prior to arrival. They said I could be in any of the buildings. My reservation states Outer Lodge Bldg. I assumed it was SL because of that but the letter I rec'd was from RPC. It is a little confusing/misleading because they don't mention SL anywhere. I guess I won't know until we arrive.

I would assume you're in a building OTHER THAN Sugar Loaf, which is why you got the contact from RPC. We stayed in a 2-bedroom suite in Conch Key a couple of years ago (Everglade Suite) and I was told via CRO that we had access to both Sugar Loaf AND RPC lounges. However, it turned out that we had the use of the RPC lounge only. (Which was, of course, fine). All of the lodges have 1-bedroom suites from everything I've read, so I would assume that you're not in Sugar Loaf and definitley not in the Main Bldg., since your confirmation says "Outer Lodge Bldg"

Thanks for the info about the different Suites ! I always wondered if they had access to both lounges!

Anyone know if they have any rooms that have been rehabbed already at sugar loaf? It would be nice to have a new room there since the pictures are so nice of them with the new furniture :-)

Alicnwondrln got back from SL a few weeks ago and she probably knows! I think they are doing them in September but the rehab dates have been switched so much, I'm not really remembering at this point!:confused3

I was also quoted $569.50 per night (before tax) for Deluxe RPC Honeymoon, and Sugar Loaf for $429.25 per night (before tax), for the same time frame with AAA. (And this is through CRO for room only - not through an AAA agent.)

Those are all value season rates with the AAA rates, which seem to be an across-the-board 15% off rack rates - if we keep our reservation as it stands now, we'll be out of there before the rates change on the 19th. I originally had the 19th in our dates, and about fell out of my chair when it switched to that holiday rate. HOLY COW!!!

Tinkaroo:

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for posting this. It took several phone calls by both my DU agent and myself but I was able to get the Deluxe RPC King room for $569.50 per night for next Dec. :cool1:

I can't believe how much bad info. CRO gives out. They told me repeatedly that AAA discounts for the GF weren't available because they were sold out. Finally my DU agent got someone who was able to get it. This saved me over $1000.:thumbsup2

Thanks Princess.. I just got an email from Calvin... rooms at SL scheduled to be closed during Sept. for the renovations.. I thought I'd get lucky with the timing for the new rooms but I guess we're just alittle too early for them.

Darn! But you know what that means - you'll just have to plan another trip!:)

Sago Cay and Sugar Loaf have not been rehabbed. At this time only Conch Key is completely finished.

Hi everybody!
We are very excited to be going to Disney and staying at GF for Christmas. We are staying in RPC in a deluxe room what ever that means. Thought all the rooms were the same up there. We have stayed at GF since it first opened but this will be our first time staying there at Christmas. No one ever conntacted us so I booked all of our ADR's myself and got tickets for MVMCP. We are also celebrating my mom's b-day while we are down there. I'm planning an event through giftsof a lifetime but would liek to decorate teh room and have flowers in it for her when we get there. We would also like to have a christmas tree while we are there. Who do I contact for these things?

Thanks,
Lissa

We stayed RPC for Christmas last yr. A deluxe room is a bit larger than standard and will not have a castle/MK view. It's a trade off that way.

I ordered a beautiful XMas tree thru WDW florist online - I actually phoned them, but you can see pics of the trees on their website. You can order gorgeous flower arrangements and gift baskets thru them also. The concierge CMs had set the tree up in the room for us before we arrived. It was gorgeous. You may want to contact IPO regarding purchasing a GF gingerbread house as they do sell out. They are so pretty and delicious. We broke into ours on Xmas because there was no way to get it home in one piece anyway. ;)

Christmas at teh GF is WONDERFUL. :wizard: Enjoy!! (my signature pics are of my girls and Mickey and Minnie at the GF on the 3rd floor by the concierge CM desks -private photo time, lol - on Xmas Eve before M & M went down to the lobby for pics with guests!) Santa was in the lobby, too, but the line for M & M was much longer. :goodvibes

Your suite may not be in SL if the RPC team contacted you. There are suites in several - maybe all - outer lodge buildings.

A while back I inquired about booking a suite in SL and the lounge privileges....I was told that if the suite is in SL than I would only have access to the SL lounge. I always (for some reason based on something I must have read here) believed all suites allowed both RPC and SL access. :confused3 But that's not the info I was given at that time by CRO and IPO.

I was told by CRO and then confirmed with IPO that different suites in the outer buildings - other than SL - will come with RPC access. I would email the IPO team back for clarification of which building your suite is in and which lounge(s) you would have access to. IMO it's better to have RPC access. So, I would hope your suite is not in SL - unless of course you prefer SL.;)

Does any of this make sense?? :rotfl: I kept rewriting it because it was such a mess.

If you find something out from IPO, could you let us know what the current story is w/suites & diff lounges & buildings.:confused3

Thanks,

Lives4Disney :)

I rec'd an email from GF IPO. The 1 bedroom suites (code BN) are located in either Sago Cay, Conch Key, Big Pine Key or Boca Chica. They are all on the fifth floor in each building and are garden views. I would have access to either lounge in SL or RPC. When I reserved this the description had said one bedroom suite-outer lodge. I just assumed the outer lodge referred to SL.

Thanks for the lounge info. :thumbsup2 SL lounge can be convenient if you're down near the courtyard pool and want to run in for a soda, but I LOVE the RPC lounge so much more. On the WDW website, I have seen specifically SL suites and also suites listed as "Outer Lodge". I didn't realize all the buildings have suites. That's good to know, too. Must be that the SL suites only allow SL lounge access.

Thanks for the info! Have a wonderful time.:wizard: Love that place.

We had a 2-BR suite in Big Pine and it was a lagoon view. John Kerry and some of his entourage had been in the suite the two nights before us (fall of 2004). My mom loved saying she slept in John Kerry's bed!

We are heading to GF in three days (:cool1: ) and would love to sit in the lounge and listen to the band/pianist in the evenings -- is this a place that out girls (5 & 9 would be welcome as well, or is it an adults hangout kind of place?

Thanks!

Just bumping this up.

To me, Mizners looks like it's kind of staid and formal. I haven't seen kids in there when I've looked in, but maybe that's just when I've seen it. Because of what it looks like to me I never brought my kids in - therefore I have never been in it, either....just peeked in. Maybe others have kid experiences there? :confused3

I'm not sure if Mizner's allows children, but I don't think the kids would really enjoy it. Actually, hanging out in the lobby is a pretty neat place to listen to the orchestra and pianist. There are so many things to see and people to watch.

i agree about haning out in the lobby. i have seen many girls twirl and dance around the piano player as he plays disney songs. SO cute!

Conch Key has been completely rehabbed, if you want a new room, call back and request Conch.

Also Conch Key and Sago Cay will be closest to Sugar Loaf.
