channing posted but she said the inside wasnt that great
I ended up cancelling I just didnt wanna spend the $ to have it not be good

That's exactly why I cancelled it last Sept after ordering it. I was just worried about what I'd get. Now I definitely have to order one for this trip! When will you be there? We're going Sept 22-29.

Denise

Oh no! We're going to miss each other by less than a week! :headache: We're arriving on Oct. 5th. I really hate to go for Columbus weekend, but it's the only time my oldest daughter has a break from college! She's got the Monday & Tuesday off. (I still can't believe my baby has graduated and is off to college in the fall! :faint: ) I'm sure someday we'll run into each other in WDW! :goodvibes We'll be back for Christmas 2008, too.. just incase you're thinking of a December trip... :thumbsup2

Thanks again, Denise!

P.S. I'm really glad that you are still going on this trip! The kids do grow up fast!!! You have to enjoy the time you have with them while they are little!

Gosh, Kelly, I am sorry I ruined it for you. HONESTLY, it was ADORABLE, but really really bad cake. I love cake - I am not picky! I lost 50 lbs and love cake even more being on a constant diet, lol, and it was yucky cake that I didn't even want to eat! THere were ice crystals inside it and parts that were watery like it had been frozen and refrozen and had defrosted part way and then been refrozen. Sorry for the bad news......I am going to look for pics of fabulous things we had received while at the GF.

Yes, I totally agree. I still love your quote about "investing in memories for the future". You are a wise woman. I'm bummed we're missing each other. I would love to meet!

Anyone know what the pre-plated meal for 1900PF dinner will be like in Sept while the refurb is going on?

If you want to get your mouth watering, check out this thread, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1173219. It's mostly cakes, but you can see the white chocolate castle, as well as Cinderella's slipper dessert. Ordering information is listed on the first post there. I tried to pull up the link for Janet2K's photos of the Tinkerbelle treat, but it looks like she's in the process of moving her pictures.

Thanks Tammi! I know that thread well! :goodvibes You can see a few of the cakes that we've gotten over the years in there! Cake 2 b and c and Cake 9 C! That first one was for Jordan's 13th Birthday - she's 18 now! Boy, has the time flown by!!! (I feel soooo old!) Cakes and treats at WDW are wonderful. They make a special occasion even better! :cloud9:

BCV23~lynn will be back 6-18 (her counter said 6-13 thru 6-18) I also cannot wait to hear about her trip, but I'm sure she doesn't want it to end!:rotfl:

Tammi~ thanks for the link, I know what I'll be doing for the next hour! Drooling!

So all you experts, what special treat should I order for my family? I am definitely going to do at least one room service breakfast on our balcony, but I also want a special dessert one evening. A slipper or something else? I'm sure I'll get fabulous ideas from the link Tammi posted, but would also like your feedback! Thanks!!

dont feel bad
I would rather have an honest opinion that buy it and have stink

I would love to order one of the mini castle cakes anyone know anything about ordering those?

OK, the Mickey "chocolate" face cake was nasty, but I ordered a chocolate cake at Ohana and the marble Cinderella cake were both delicious. Here are pics of those. Don't know what the heck happened to the Mickey because the Cindy cake came from the GF, too.

Here's the infamous "Minnie" cake....Adorable, but awful....

Delicious chocolate cake at Ohana......

Scrumptious marble cake with some kind of yummy filling ordered from GF PD....

Here are some more treats......this is the white choco Mickey w/cookies and Happy Bday....

IMGP4407.jpg

This is the Grand Floridian chocolate truffle box. It was BEAUTIFUL. The pics don't do it justice. It was on a tile, with a chocolate tiara as the background with roses and then a pretty castle chocolate, too.

IMGP4413.jpg

Here's a special surprise bday dessert Citricos gave me. It was creme brule....

IMGP4471-1.jpg

Here is a platter of strawberries with warm chocolate dipping sauce that the kids devoured. They were so sweet and yummy!!!

And, this was a cute basket/bucket type thing filled to the rim with treats. It was a hit, lol. These were all private dining GF things....except the Ohana chocolate bday cake.

This is a pic of Lucy and her Memories by Sarah gift basket from our May trip. I was very pleased and will order again.

Oh, can't forget the adorable tray that comes delivered to GF guests on Xmas Eve. It had Christmas cookies and white chocolate on it. *sigh* I love that place.

Thanks Kelly....I need to go grab a handful of m & m's at this point. :goodvibes

It was 6 yrs between my son and first daughter.....I went nutso at Gymboree for yrs. Girls are awesome fun.... ALTHOUGH, they aren't teenagers yet  .....that will be ugly, I'm sure.:headache:

Channing :)

I was skimming thru my pics and had to post this one.....we almost always rent pontoon boats during our stay & we have the best time!!!

IMGP3713.jpg

LOL, we got "yelled" at for having DD on DH's lap....oh well, it was funny and we still laugh over getting pulled over by the Disney boat cops.

that does look fun
whats that cost? and how long do you get to keep the boat?
Can you food on it?

It's LOTS of fun and I think it's a Disney deal (if such a thing exists).... less than $50 for an hour...I can't remember!!!! It's a weird odd number. I will find out. I don't see why you can't have food. I think I have only had Diet Coke out there....there are cup holders. I also think you can have PD make a "picnic" type lunch to take out - I thought I saw this somewhere, so food must be allowed.

OK.....I did a quick search and found the 21 ft pontoon boats for 34.74 for 1/2 hr.....DH and I both thought they cut us a special rate for a full hour, though. Hmmm.... I thought they were under $50 for an hour ( we usually do at least an hour maybe 1 1/2 hrs....) still not bad.

Wow! We've got to do this sometime! :goodvibes Don't feel bad, Steve & Conner got yelled at by the WDW water security guys, too! They were out on Bay Lake in those water mice and I guess they were driving their boats too close together or something. :confused3

It's really nice to see pics of your family, Channing! Thanks for posting them! I love all of the GF goodies that you've gotten over the years! I'm definitely going to order a chocolate truffle box when we stay at the GF next December. They come in different sizes, don't they? Just think, you'll be back to the GF in exactly 5 months! Wow! It'll be here before you know it!

Take care,
Michelle

I found it! I just went through all of my Disney bookmarks and I found the white chocolate castle cake top that I was talking about...

Disney White Chocolate Castle

They are pretty expensive though, especially after you add on shipping. Just wanted to share this bit of info... I have a weakness for white chocolate...

Oh, I can see that it’s going to be dangerous for me if I begin catching up on this thread (I had wanted to do so over the Memorial Weekend but couldn’t find the time). I’m under pressure from a couple of my favorite Dis’ers to join them in WDW this summer. I had to cancel my vacation a few months ago, but now I find myself itching to rebook. If I catch up on this thread, I fear my willpower will dissolve completely. Oh, woe is me. ;)

For those of you who have recently returned from the Grand Floridian, welcome back (and I hope you’ve posted links to your photos in this thread). For those of you who are heading there soon, have a wonderful time.

A few months ago I stumbled into a professional photo that was taken on December 9, 2006. What makes this photo particularly interesting is that it was taken on the Grand Floridian’s Water Taxi Dock of a space shuttle launch: click here.

I always wondered what it would look like to watch a shuttle launch from the Grand Floridian. Thanks to that photo, I now know.

By the way, here is some official NASA footage of that launch (it’s on YouTube): click here.

To infinity and beyond! Or maybe it should be, "To the Grand Floridian -- or bust!" ;)
