What is Contempo Cafe and what is the official opening day! Oh! One more thing they have coffee makers and mini refrigerator! I think to take the Magic Kingdom view! I can't wait to stay there!

Contempo Cafe is the brand new counter service restaurant. It will be replacing the temporary Tempo Grab and Go, which replaced the Food and Fun Center

Also: Allearsnet is reporting that the Contempo Cafe won't open until January. Looking at the recent pictures, I find that hard to believe. The place looks mostly finished. I wonder if Allearsnet is wrong or if there is some kind of hold up.

:moped:

This is one time where I am hoping that Allears.net is wrong. I had been told within the past few weeks that Contempo Cafe would be open in December during our 12/10 to 12/19 stay. This info came from Brenda Bennett, who is a CM that helps out guests who have special dietary needs. I can only assume that she would have had the most up to date information.

I really hope it opens up anytime now.popcorn::
Same with me.

I would also trust this Cast Member alot more then Allearsnet.

After looking at the various room pictures, I was wondering how much clothing storage space is in one of the standard rooms? I see there are two closets, but I don't see much for drawer space like we had at POR. Do the closets have shelves, drawers or just a bar to hang clothes?

Thank you! :thumbsup2

The closests don't have shelves, however both of them have a bar going across to hang clothes up. Besides that if you work things around you can get enough space in the drawers. What my family and I do is hang a few items up, some items go in the drawers and other things we just leave in our luggage.

Thanks for your quick reply! Can you tell me where the drawers are located in the room? I guess I'm overlooking them in the pictures.

Hi everyone! I just booked a garden wing room at CR this morning. I am SO excited because I haven't stayed there since I was a kid. I tried reading through this thread, but there was no way I could get through everything! I was wondering what area to request in the garden wing. I'd love to be close to the tower, but is that also close to the walking path to MK? How long is the walk to MK? I'm wondering if it would be faster to walk to MK than to get to the tower and up to the monorail? We only have two days there so I need to make the best use of my time!! :)

Thank you!

I walk with a cane, and it was never more than 6-7 minutes walking to the MK. We loved the monorail to Epcot!

Could be, it might also have just been my room, which was a corner room.

All,
I recently read on wdw's website that garden wing rooms needed to request a refrigerator; however, I thought that all deluxe rooms had refrigerators. Anybody have any thoughts? :confused3
TIA,
Peter

Every room at the Contemporary in the Tower and Garden Wing has a fridge, so you don't need to request it.

I just wanted to thank everyone for posting all of this great information on the CR. I just returned from a week long stay last night and absolutely loved it. It was my first time and I am hooked. I had originally booked a garden view room due to cost and was disappointed that I could not stay in the tower, but I figured as long as I am at the CR I should be happy. To my surprise when we checked in, we were upgraded to a Bay Lake View room in the tower on the 10th floor. It was absolutlely amazing. Our room was located at the end (oppsite Chef Mickey's), so we could see the fireworks when we walked right outside the door. We could not hear the construction at all. The only thing I heard was a very muffled beeping sound as one of the trucks would back up but I only heard this since I was already up and the construction never started before 7:00am. I have to say I was disapointed with the Tempo Grab & Go. Not much too choose from. We only visited this once just for convienence. In the morning they had a pop-over filled with scrambled eggs, onions & cut-up bacon, a cinnamon bun, cereal & plain croissant. At night they offered pizza, hot dog basket or sandwhiches. I am sure most of you already know this but a very nice lady in the gift shop was telling us that the table set up (where the old Concourse SteakHouse used to be) will remain as is. And the construction next to the Tempo Grab & Go will eventually turn into a much better counter service area. She said she felt that they made a big mistake taking out the Concourse Steak House. She said alot of people have been complaining. She said the Wave (which is in place of the Concourse Steak house isn't the greatest). She said you never need to make reservations there............and that should tell you something.
But overall, the CR was wonderful.

Thanks so much for the describtion of breakfast offering at the grab and go. We plan to do RD everyday and I was hoping there was something we could grap quickly to eat on the way. I'm assuming it opens really early??:surfweb: Thanks for your review.:santa:

Far be it from me to disagree with The CR Fan, however, this is only partially true. Each closet has a shelf above the bar that clothes hang on. We used the shelves to stack t-shirts and shorts. There are also drawers in one of the closets (the one with the safe) and there are drawers by the computer, just as CR Fan stated. Between the shelves and the drawers, we were able to unpack all of our stuff and we're a family of 4. There is more storage room in the CR than you imagine (although not as much as say the Wilderness Lodge).
