Subscribing as CR is my next wish hotel. We just stayed at the Dolphin and went to the Poly last year. We got spoiled with the MK resorts with all the MK night stuff we like to do and because we have a little one. So, for now, if we have DD with us, I think we'll do MK resort. And this one's next on the list.....

I'll read the first pages later. I just wanted to get on the train.

Hi guys, hoping someone can help me out here. I'm hoping to catch the Electrical Water Pageant after (9:00) Illuminations on Saturday night November 15th. I understand from some of the info I've read that you should call ahead and ask what time because times vary, but it looks like generally it is about 10:00 for the Contemporary.

So the question... I'm not really that familiar with the Contemporary. Where would be a good place to be to see it, hopefully a place where I can get some decent pictures?

Sorry if this information is already contained within the 400 pages of information here LOL, the search function isn't helping any.

I appreciate any info anyone can give me!

On the schedule the it's to start going by the Contemporary at 10:05 PM when it passes threw 7 Seas Lagoon. After that it should go on the other side which would be the Bay Lake View. So my best opinion is to watch it going by Bay Lake and to see it from the 4th floor windows just behind the Disney Vacation Club information desk.

Here is the schedule as listed on WDW info:

Disney's Polynesian Resort - 9:00pm
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa - 9:15pm
Disney's Wilderness Lodge - 9:35pm
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground - 9:45pm
Disney's Contemporary Resort - 10:05pm
Magic Kingdom park - 10:20pm (only during extended Magic Kingdom Park hours)

The thing that is confusing, is that according to this schedule, it starts in the Seven Seas Lagoon at Poly then goes over to Bay Lake to show Wilderness Lodge and and Fort Wilderness Campground, Contemporary, and then back over (up) to the Magic Kingdom. I can't really make sense of this. Why would it go all over the place like this? So by the schedule, can I assume that from the Contemporary, it can first be viewed on the Bay Lake side, then shortly after on the Seven Seas Lagoon side?

I don't remember when exactly it goes by Bay Lake because it's been a while since my family and I had that view, so I only remember it going by 7 Seas Lagoon and in my previous reply I was making a guess.

That's cool... maybe I'll do some more internet research and see if I can find some video or something. Or maybe I should just call the resort and ask them. I wonder if they'd know?

I guess they've changed things?:confused3 Before you could catch it early at the CR as it left Seven Seas and headed toward WL. Then you could catch it returning coming back on the bayLake side. Now it appears it will only be lit coming back on the BayLake side. Sure would be nice if someone were currently at CR if they could ask if you can see it early and late. With younger children, it would be nice to catch it earlier one night. I do know they don't want to show it when Wishes is going off so maybe that's the issue/

It goes back over to the MK because that's where they park the floats. :goodvibes I was on the monorail on my recent trip and we happened to stop right before the MK stop, after leaving the GF. I saw something in a little river thing below, like billboards, and couldn't figure out what it was. Then I realized that it was the EWP floats! :rotfl: So if you're out in front of the MK, they're parked in a little river that goes out of the 7 Seas Lagoon on the left-hand side of the MK. So the floats have to go back over there anyway.

It's over at the CR in Bay Lake at 10:05pm, and a good place to see it is from the pier where you would catch the water launches. You can get out closer to it there. The beach area might be another good place, maybe someone can answer that. It wouldn't be as close, but maybe it would be a good place to sit?

Hi everyone! I just booked a garden wing room at CR this morning. I am SO excited because I haven't stayed there since I was a kid. I tried reading through this thread, but there was no way I could get through everything! I was wondering what area to request in the garden wing. I'd love to be close to the tower, but is that also close to the walking path to MK? How long is the walk to MK? I'm wondering if it would be faster to walk to MK than to get to the tower and up to the monorail? We only have two days there so I need to make the best use of my time!! :)

Thank you!

KRBQ walked it and in post 2177 said it was 145 paces from GW to the Tower. The walk to the MK is on the opposite side of the Tower from the GW but it is a very short walk. My view is that most people will get to the MK faster by walking to the MK (from any room at the CR) than by taking the monorail because the monorail has three other stops after leaving the CR (TTL, Poly and GF) before it reaches the MK.

This seems to be a popular idea, but I think people assume the Monorail is much slower than it actually is. We were on the 8th floor of the tower. From our door to the gates of the MK was between 12 and 15 minutes. I dare say from some rooms in the CR, that is either the same time, or quicker, than walking. Plus, it's a lot less energy wasted. My point: try both and decide for yourself.

Also: Allearsnet is reporting that the Contempo Cafe won't open until January. Looking at the recent pictures, I find that hard to believe. The place looks mostly finished. I wonder if Allearsnet is wrong or if there is some kind of hold up.

I agree with you because from the pictures I have seen it looks like it should open up anytime now.

Thanks everyone, but I just had to change my reservations - again! :( I told my husband about the great deal but made the mistake about telling him the OTHER great deals that same weekend. He;s not a huge fan of the deluxes - he thinks the money is better spent on other stuff (unless we could go to the GF - for some reason he loves that place the most.) So - now we're going to POR - we'll be paying about $60 less than CR but we're getting 3 nights instead of 2. I know it's a good deal, but I can't wait to surprise my kids with CR someday!

I guess if it's going to save you money it's not a bad deal to pass up, so hopefully one day you can stay at the Contemporary.

Thanks - we'll get there again someday!! Maybe by then we can stay int he tower. :) I wasn't excited about POR, but I'm looking at lots of nice pictures and reminding myself anywhere at Disney is better than being at home!

What is Contempo Cafe and what is the official opening day! Oh! One more thing they have coffee makers and mini refrigerator! I think to take the Magic Kingdom view! I can't wait to stay there!
