Sorry if this has been asked a buch already, but has anyone heard any more on the reported pool closing in January? We switched to WL when we heard the rumor, but I am sooo disappointed and am holding out hope that the rumor will turn out to be untrue - and I can then switch back!!! We really need the pool with our little mermaid!
All the information about the pool closing was mentioned on this thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1948227

the pictures of the new Fantasia shop at Contemporary is so awesome! I can't wait to stay there for my birthday!
I am happy you enjoyed seeing them and have a great birthday staying at the Contemporary.

I had put up more photos, and asked about the fast food area - I was told it should be done within a week or two.

Still no official announcement and I've been keeping an eye out since it affects us as well. We're biting the bullet and keeping our reservation at CR, and will pool hop to the Poly for swimming if the CR pool is closed (we've been told this will be allowed if CR closes).

I'm trying to be positive about it...the Poly is only a monorail ride away and during our trip this past January some of my most relaxing moments were spent on the beach at the Poly reading, sipping a drink viewing the castle and the GF, and every so often hearing music from the MK faintly in the distance. All this while my DS swam and built sand castles :goodvibes Not so bad really if I "had" to do that again :upsidedow

I wanted to stay in the contemporary for a very long time it will be the first time in the Contemporary! Oh! one more thing Can I see the fireworks in the contemporary!

You are welcome! I was told that there wasn't an exact date for the fast food opening, but it's very close. I am really glad there won't be more construction in that area!
I also feel that way. Not that we found it to be bad when we stayed there this past August, but to go in December knowing it's 100% finished will be a good thing to know.

We are staying at the CR for the first time in about 1mth!!!! We're doing a split stay and I was FINALLY able to add a 3rd night in the CR tower!!! True, we start as Tower-MK view for 2 nites and the last night is Tower-Bay view but it's 3nites at the CR and I am soooooo excited!

I will keep calling hoping a 3rd night will open so we don't have to change rooms. The nice CM noted it on our ressie about our desire to stay in 1 room w/ the MK view (i'm willing to pay the extra $ it just hasn't been available) and linked it w/ our separate ressie for the last nite. Do you think I stand a chance?? Pixie dust please!!!!!!:lovestruc It's the 1st time we've stayed deluxe and we're celebrating dds 6th bday!!!!

Thank you! Nothing against bayview...I hope to stay there too sometime! But since this is such a short stay, it would be nice to be in the same room for all 3 nites. I'm soooooooo happy. :lovestruc

You're welcome and I feel the same way you do, because why would anyone want to change rooms at the same Resort for one night and then have to check-out the next day.

Watching you all post almost makes me feel bad that i'm in the lowly GV room.:sad1: But it's all they had - this will be our first CR stay so we're fired up, even though it's only for 2 nights. We're trying to add a 3rd but availability during POP Warner nearly makes it impossible. Oh well, at least we'll have our first monorail resort stay under our belts with hopefully many more to come.:cool1:

We leave in 12 Days for the Contemporary and I had seen on other posts on disboards.com that people enjoy decorating their windows or doors while staying at WDW. I looked at the virtual view of the Contemporary and realized that there are not windows that look out into the resort so that means I would have to decorate the door. So my question is, have you ever seen any door decorated at the CR before and if so, do you know if the doors are metal? I want to use magnets to post the pictures I created for decoration. My DD4 would love to see our door decorated so she can easlily identify when we are at our room. Thanks for helping!

ooh, I hope someone answers your post. I'd like to know too. :yay:

You'll love the CR no matter where you stay. My family was booked into a GV room in 2007 and I had prepared my kids ahead of time that they would not be staying in the tower. We all checked in, very excited to finally be there, and were surprised with an upgrade to a MK view. We all cried, except for my DH who wanted to know how much this was going to cost him.

We are heading back to the CR over Thanksgiving. This time I have a MK view booked, but it took me many phone calls trying to get our whole visit. Keep trying and good luck.

I know a girl who prefers the GV over the tower. Closer to the lake and pool and the Sand Bar, it's quiet and relaxing.

I'd be happy anywhere at CR I think. DH & I will be booking our next trip in December and whatever is available when I call, we'll take it! He really does want an MK View Atrium Club room though ;)

Don't feel bad! You will love the CR! We stayed in a garden wing room in 2000. The only thing we were a little sad about was the fact that we didn't have a balcony. Other than that, we thought it was a great room and really didn't feel "gypped" or anything by not being in the tower. It was only a few steps away, and we loved being able to hop on the monorail. I know you'll have a great time!! :goodvibes

I too like the GV. It is nice and quiet. Mousekeeping was excellent. I liked being near the pool. Mostly I like the price, personally I think it is a really good value for the money. Sure, I'd LOVE MK tower view but in my mind I think GV CR is comperable to the Poly but the price is much better, service is better, rooms are nicer imo. An upgrade to and MK tower view is alot of Mickey bars, you know what I mean? You get the same luxuries out in the wing for much less money. Maybe it isn't for everyone but I loved the wing and am looking forward to our next stay there.

We enjoyed the old North Wing, but always had a monorail view..and could see the train sta and spaceship earth!

Would like a CR GV even now IF those rooms had a balcony...makes no sense to me to build a resort in FL without a balcony.:confused3

Of course, Poly did not have all balconies for authenticity...but glad they went with guest desires for the newer longhouses. ::yes::
