just some other things that i like that CR4L didn't mention... boat access to other bay lake resorts (when i go to HDD)
Monorail going through the building
Everything is in one uber convenient tower. I like this design much better than being spread out, especially after a long days in the parks
GO for it I LOVE CR

Hi all!

First off, this is a GREAT thread for all the Contempory addicts out there! Love it! My inquiry though, is there a big difference (besides the price) in staying in the Wing vs. the Tower? Any thoughts or comments or suggestions? Should I spend the extra $130.00 per day to stay in the Tower?

Thank you!

The view from the tower can't be beat, be it MK or Bay Lake, but the wings have the advantage of being quiet and kind of peacful. I like both, but I actually prefer the tranquility of a wing room, sometimes.

Not a bad view, and there are rooms that are even closer to the lake than we were, you can see them across the courtyard.

WOW! Great photos! I guess the room are pretty much the same as the tower ones. I did look at them on line. I also saw the DELUXE Garden wing and it appeared to be a LARGE SUITE! Very, very nice!

Thanks for the tip! If you have any other suggestions photo's etc., please post them.

Thanks again!
Brunette

The main difference is the cost since the standard rooms are exactly the same size and look the same. Obviously I am not referring to the Deluxe Garden Wing Garden Wing rooms, which would be a little bigger. Anyway So you got to decide what's best for you, however you can't go wrong with any type of room at the Contemporary.

Brunette,

I have only stayed in the GW so I can't give you a comparison but I very much enjoyed the stay. I would do it again, and save the money. I know I would enjoy a MK view and sure wouldn't turn down an upgrade if forced on me but at WDW I'm just not in the room enough to justify the extra cost.

Seeing Wishes from the fourth floor balcony is about all the fantastic I could take.

Here are some pros why you should try the Contemporary.

Closest Resort to the Magic Kingdom.
Monorail access.
Walkway to the Magic Kingdom.
Tower Magic Kingdom view.
The only Resort with computers in each guest room that offers 100% free internet access.
1st stop on the Resort Monorail line when leaving the Magic Kingdom.
1st Resort to be picked up and dropped of by Disney Transport Buses, since they share with the Polynesian and Grand Floridian.
California Grill, Chef Mickey's, The Wave which is to open June 7th and Chef
Mickey's Express which will hopefully open on August 14th.
Renovated rooms.

Some cons maybe their lack of a theme which is what others say and the construction of the Bay Lake Towers where North Garden Wing use to be. When it comes to their theme if people think that well it's their opinion so can't change it. As for the construction that has no effect no matter what type of room you select.

Thanks for the advice...how's the pool? I have two little ones (DD4 and DD2) and they really loved the sand beach at stormalong bay and the zero entry was a plus. Is the pool at CR zero entry too?

You're welcome and as for the pool I don't remember if it's zero entry, so hopefully someone else will be able to answer that for you.

I don't remember there being a zero entry:sad2: but there is a water slide which is pretty fun

We just got back last night. No the pool is not zero entry, but it is big. Also it was never crowded. Not many families staying there we noticed. Lots of convention people walking around with dress clothes on, could tell because of their "convention lanyards". I have always dreamed of staying there, and now we did. Will choose another resort next time. This was our 14th trip onsite but our first Deluxe. Any questions I'd be happy to answer for anyone!

Hi All,
I had some questions answered here a while back, but I have a few more for you CR experts. I am planning on staying here with my wife and kids next year. At this time I'm planning on staying in the tower with a bay lake view. Having never stayed there, what's it like getting around the tower? We plan on going back to the resort each day to swim, and I'm wondering about getting to the pool. Do you go down to the lobby, or is there a back exit so we're not running around in our suits in front of arriving guests? Also, when we want to eat and shop, does the elevator stop on the floor that these places are located? Maybe these are silly questions, but I like to know in advance what I'm looking at for getting around before I actually get there. Any information you great CR fans can give me regarding getting to different places at the resort would be greatly appreciated!:thumbsup2
Thanks in advance!

Just wondering what you liked and didn't like about staying there? Also what type of room did you have?

Getting around the Tower is very easy. Once you arrive it's just an elevator to the floor your staying on. So if you want to look at the stores just press the 4th floor button in the elevator. Chef Mickey's and Chef Mickey's Express are also located on the 4th floor, just on the opposite sides of the stores. If you have an ADR at the California Grill you check-in on the 2nd floor and The Wave will be located on the 1st floor in the lobby. To visit the pool just take the elevator to the lobby, walk towards the automatic doors on the other side and you will have an easy time finding the pool.

Thank you CR Resort Fan 4 Life!

I keep thinking there's something that will influence me to stay elsewhere, but this looks like the perfect place for my family!:cool1:

You're welcome and I am sure you will enjoy staying at the Contemporary, so hopefully another Resort won't influence you to stay somewhere else.

I loved the convenience of being right next to the Magic Kingdom! We walked there everytime, and took the monorail back. Very quick! We loved the size of the pool, very spacious. We had a Bay Lake View booked, got floor 7. Was the last room away from the new Tower being built. The Balcony was huge! My boys liked the Electrical Water pageant (saw it 1x) they go to bed early! Did not like the music played at the resort. Was hoping it would be some futuristic instrumental music, but if we heard Alannis Morrissette one more time, my husband and I would go nuts!!!! It felt strange, I know this sounds trivial, but you would think you would hear something with a Disney feel. The Tempo Grab N GO is a joke, there's so little to choose from. No variety. I LOVE Disney and get mad at anyone who puts it down, or doesn't get that "magical feeling" SO this is very hard for me to write! My Husband could tell I was not thrilled, but I was too afraid to admit it. I never got the Magical express info slipped under my door the night before, and when I asked for a pick up time, I was told I may not get on the next bus because "I" did not make the reservation?? I made the ressie in Jan., got the packet, and had the voucher in hand. VERY rude CM working that front area. We arrived at 9:30 am, and our room was not ready until 4:30pm, we still were wondering where our luggage was so I called down and was told it was at bell services because they thought we cancel:rolleyes1 ed our reservation??? Again I was totally confused. BUT I tried not to let it bother me or let my kids tell! We have 2 boys 7,9 the 7 year old has Autism, and my 9 year old has Tourette's, and anxiety. THey have been waiting for this trip since last May at POP. I SOOO wanted to love it, I have dreamed of staying there since my first visit in 1985! We even honeymooned in Disney in 97. I felt this was a good choice because I like Contemporary styles, and the Poly looked too dark. The cleanliness of the room is another story, YIKES. I swear I am not making this up, all the maid did was change out the towels. NOTHING else. the dark wood had so much dust, and the doors to the bathroom had spots all over I was gagging. I must have the worst luck ever is all I can think. Please don't jump all over me, I am very upset that the trip felt this way, I would never admit to complaining about Disney.

Well since the Tempo Grab & Go is just a temporary location once Chef Mickey's Express opens it will be no more. As for your Magical Express situation my family and I have never used it, however I am sorry you had to go threw that. As for the bathroom situation all I can say is you must have not got a great housekeeper, although that seems to be a problem at the other Resorts. I am not trying to defend them in anyway, just saying what I have been reading on various threads. So thank you for being honest about your stay because I would rather have someone do that, then say everything was fine with no problems when that would not be true.

I'm still doing laundry and I keep thinking what happened here?? I feel terrible that I didn't love it, neither did my husband. Very weird. The building looks so cool......always has! But once inside the room, I felt like I was at a Boston Hotel. I still can't figure out why we got our luggage at 5:30pm, I know its Magic express, BUT why didn't the front desk or bell services call our room to ask why our luggage was still with them? We had breakfast at Chef Mickey's one morning and that was good, and we had a great time in the parks.

This is just a guess here but since your room was not ready until 4:30 PM, maybe that's why you did not get your luggage until 5:30 PM. From what I have read it should arrive in your room 3 hours after you check-in, so I would assume your room must be ready so they know which room it's suppost to be in.
