There are coffee makers in the rooms. They are the typical size for hotel coffee makers. Bring your own grounds and filters if you want good coffee and leave 15 to 20 minutes for the maker to brew 4 cups.

If you have the resort mug it the coffee free somewhere? How many cups are left next to the coffee maker in the room? Thanks

Coffee for the resort mug is served in the tempo grab and go. It is Nescafe'.

I recall having 2 mugs in the room. (I brought my own 20 oz mug so I wasn't paying much attention.)

I stayed in the CR Garden Wing with my wife and 3yo Daughter earlier this month and I must report that we absolutely loved it. We had a couple of minor inconveniences, one being that the in-room computer was dead when we arrived - but that was replaced the next day. The other "problem" we faced was that the two rubber spray pads in the pool area were closed for maintenance. My daughter loves those things so that was kind of a downer. However, the positives far outweighed the negatives and we had a fantastic time.

The standard Garden Wing room was even nicer than the pictures and descriptions led me to expect. I was particularly impressed with the lighting which is very unique and very well done. The backlit mirrors in the bathroom and the halogen reading lights over the beds are great. The room had so many nice touches that I won't try to list them all, but I have to mention the beds. I have simply never been in a more comfortable bed in my life.

As for more general observations, each and every CM we encountered at the resort was very friendly and helpful. From the moment we walked into the lobby (quite literally) until the moment we left, we felt welcomed and well cared-for. I don't know when we'll be able to go back, but I hope it's soon.

I have a question about the observation deck at the top of the CR. Does anyone know if it's possible to see a shuttle launch from there? There's supposed to be one going up on 5/31 at 5:02 PM. We have a 6 PM ADR for Concourse and are wondering if we can get up to the top of the CR to watch.

Thanks!

My DH, DS3 and I are booked in a standard Garden Wing room in October..so excited!!! Anyway, I would like to request a 1st floor room because of the patio, but I am concerned about my DS3 getting out easily without us knowing...he can be sneaky ;) .

Can anyone tell me if the locks on the patio doors are pretty childproof? If not, I may consider an upper level floor, since they have the railings. I assume the garden wing has elevators.

Also, when do you place your requests? Do you fax or phone them in?

TIA!!

It has been more than a decade since I have had to worry about childproofing but my recollection of the patio doors was that there was not only a secure lock on the door, there was a pole blocking it as well. If you don't get what you want, make sure and ask for it.

There are elevators in the GW. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=25055155&postcount=768 for a picture of the GW lobby elevator.

The sliding door has two locks on it. One at about waist level and the other about eye-level, if your 1-year-old could reach the eye-level one get him into Guiness Book of Records!!

Thanks for the responses on the balcony door locks! I feel better about requesting a 1st floor room now:goodvibes .

We just stayed in the Garden Wing and I made my 1st floor room request over the phone with CRO. We did indeed get what we wanted but room requests are always kind of pot luck.

There is no reason why it can't be seen from CR. It may look like a big ball of light (thats what i've heard). Whether you can actually get to the observation deck i do not know...

But NASA is considering delaying it because of a broken toilet:rotfl2: But I don't see how NASA can't get the part there in a week. I hope it goes up!

Okay. My family and are going to be staying at the Contemporary Nov 30-Dec 5 MK View Tower. We are BIG counter service people meaning we like to eat chicken tenders, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.... We hope to make ADR to Chef Mickey's for breakfast one day. We are concerned about our other meals that we will be having there. OUr plan is to come rest mid day and eat lunch at the hotel. We loved the sound of the Fun & Food Center (is that what it was called??) but now the Temp & Go doesn't have much. We have looked at The Wave Menu that is floating around and honestly it is not us. Our concern is we want just regular chicken tenders, hamburgers, etc... Do you guys think this will be a problem at the new place??

We stayed at Poly last year and we didn't like much care for their counter service.

We stayed at CSR before that and LOVED the Pepper Market.

I am thinking of switching to CSR Junior Suite just for the food (the buses are great too)..........Please help......:worship:

I wonder this too! Maybe by then the Chef Mickey's mini place will be open and serve such food. :confused3

Well the food and fun center was a counter service with a HUGE arcade right next to it. The counter service they have now Tempo Grab n' Go is the temporary one until Concourse closes, then they will build Chef Mickey's express which will be permanent. So now and with CME it is on the fourth floor and the arcade is on the other side of the floor. So now everything is and will be on the fourth floor (excluding the wave and CA Grill that is)

By the time you arrive Chef Mickey's Express should be open since they plan to open it on August 14. This is just a guess but I would assume their menu would be very similar to the one at the Food & Fun Center, so it should basically be the same items.

Here's a photo of the shuttle launch from last October, which I photographed from the porch at Narcoose Nick's. It appears to be a streak coming out of the top of the CR. The vapor trail at the top of the photo is from the spotter plane that had just passed over Disney World.

You probably can't get to the top of the CR to watch because of the limited access to the California Grill, but you will probably have a great view from the beach on the Bay Lake side of the Tower. If you want some elevation, there are outside steps up to the second level of the tower. Ask some of the CM's in the area right before the launch until you find one who knows of a good spot (some of them come out to watch, too). And don't blink -- it happens fast!

Hi all,
Last year we stayed in a cabin Fort Wilderness and loved it. My wife and I decided to come back in December this year for 2 reasons: 1 - We want to see the Christmas Decorations & 2 - our youngest child won't yet be 3. We decided to stay on the monorail to maximize our use of the monorail since we will be spending a considerable amount of time in the Magic Kingdom. We've booked a Garden Wing room from 12/6-12/14. We primarily booked the GW because it is sooooo much cheaper than the tower. However, will I be disappointed that I'm not in the tower?

Thanks in advance for your help and comments.

Peter

We just got back from a 4 night stay CL at CR and had a great time! It's horrible that you didn't! Our room was spotless every day. We did a 4 resort stay and were told to call down to bell services when we arrived to see if our luggage was there yet. Once we called they checked and brought it right up. At the CR when the saw it wasn't there yet, they checked awhile later and called to tell us it arrived. They would not bring it up to the room unless some-one was there to receive it. Also they didn't know we were there until we called. Did you call when you arrived? If not, that could have been the problem. The front desk and bell services are located in 2 separate areas and I guess don't communicate with each other~ As for the room condition, I would have called after it happened the first time. I would not put up with a dirty room. Funny thing was, we noticed when we had a different maid....one day not much was done..then the next everything was in perfect order, even my toiletries were straightened up! I've heard before that the part time maids were not as great as the full time ones~

I'm still doing laundry and I keep thinking what happened here?? I feel terrible that I didn't love it, neither did my husband. Very weird. The building looks so cool......always has! But once inside the room, I felt like I was at a Boston Hotel. I still can't figure out why we got our luggage at 5:30pm, I know its Magic express, BUT why didn't the front desk or bell services call our room to ask why our luggage was still with them? We had breakfast at Chef Mickey's one morning and that was good, and we had a great time in the parks.
