Well, as the screen name implies, I've lurked here a while, snatching some info here and there. It is amazing the number of google searches that looped me back to this thread.
Since my upcoming vacation overlaps with CR Fan's, and he's done the grunt work on getting answers to many questions, I'll buy him a Labatts or Molson that week before Christmas on behalf of all of us who have benefitted from his hard work. Great work, eh?
I'm down at the CR 17-24 December 2008, so say hello if you see us there.
One thing that I am wanting to try this time, and consider this an open invitation for anyone down there the same week as us, is a grocery delivery service. There are several that deliver to resort hotels for a smallish fee ($15-$25 depending on how much you order.) The refillable resort mugs and lugging down to the gift shop/snack bar for marked up stuff is not too appealing. BTDT. With a refrigerator in the room, for the price of one of the mugs we can order whatever we want delivered and only pay normal grocery prices.
We used a grocery delivery service at the beach this year, and it absolutely was worth every dime and worked flawlessly.
Wife and I were considering ordering a few 12 packs of soda pop, some orange juice/capri sun type drinks, a thing of chocolate milk and then like some chips and stuff. Just some muncies for the room Seems like a small order, but if 2 or 3 rooms were thinking about a similar order we could place the order all together and save/split on the delivery charges. Just a thought.
Anyway, this trip is #6 for me, #3 with my wife and #2 with my kids and wife. We finally decided the time would never be right, the budget would never be right etc. Just pulled the trigger on going and consequences be darned. We had the kids participate in looking at the hotels online and they expressed their interests and explained why. In the end, we all decided the CR was the way to go, which finally crosses that item off my Life's to-do list. I see many other posters "finally staying at the CR" and it was heart warming to know that I'm not the only one finally living out a 25 year old dream. I don't know what it is, but for many of us this has always been a dream, and I'm tickled we finally are going to do it.
(Although Disney closed the Adventurer's Club at Pleasure Island, which should be a capital crime. I'll be angry about that for just a while longer and then bask in the glory of the CR

)
Here's hoping the weather holds and no airlines go bankrupt.
