The New Disney Dream!

I'm actually a bit concerned about elevator noise. It was nice knowing that deck 12 didn't get any appreciable foot traffic by the forward elevators. (Let's be clear, I don't think concierge passengers are better than anyone else, but we tried to choose deck 12 because it seemed quieter.)
We booked our deck 12 cabin by the elevators....had I'd known I would not have. Booked same cabin for May. :worried:

What, the noise floating into the Quiet Cove area? Yes.

It's not the noise that annoys me, it's the idea that many kids will pass by the Quiet Cove to get to the puddle and might be tempted to spend some time in there... I don't hate kids, but when I'm in the Adult sections, I want to be with adults.

Well, as I said, it's not on the same deck as Quite Cove, so they really don't need to pass through there to get to it.
Kids passing through the Quiet Cove area has always been an issue (on all ships). But on the Dream class it's just more obvious. On the classic ships Quiet Cove is set up differently than the Dream class ships. In the center is the pool, surrounded by two rows of deck chairs and then a railing. Outside the railing is the walking area and then a row of tables and loungers on the outside (closest to the viewing windows).

On the Dream class the walking area is basically right through the middle of the area (next to the pool). So, it's just more obvious when kids are passing through.

Unfortunately, this isn't likely to change, as the design of the ship puts the forward elevators in the adult area on the deck with Quiet Cove. Anyone with rooms in the forward area of the ship will use them to access the pool decks, necessitating kids having to walk through the area.

Now, if they are just going to the Puddle Pool, they can access that on deck 12 and remain in the family area of the ship to get there.

I don't mean to be a downer but...the whole thing kind of makes me sad. Pay for ice cream....pay for treats....pay for bar food....pay for liquor....pay (more) for corkage...pay more for less magic. Maybe I've just cruised too much to appreciate the add ons....I just miss the old DCL....
LOL, I hear you! I understand that some things are not going to be included, but bar food? Seriously? And it's not cheap - $8 - $18.

Deck 12 Forward was never an adult-only area on the Dream or Fantasy. Deck 11 Forward and Deck 13 Forward are the adult areas. On Deck 12 Forward, the stairways going both up and down are marked as being for adults only.

On the Fantasy, I don't recall the family puddle (didn't even realize that was its name) being a very busy or especially noisy location.

As for the Forward elevators on Deck 12: I don't see why the demand for them would be much different than before.

I'm excited for the jacuzzi and shaded area in the concierge lounge. It was hot as Hades up there during our summer cruise. We were absolutely melting during the private meet and greet- they had to hand out water and ice cream to try to cool everyone down while we were waiting for Pirate Goofy to show up!

Depends how people get to funnel puddle directly instead of from Deck 11. If they do a better job of enforcing kids not walking through the adult area, and they should, then I guess more people might use the midship elevators. If people come directly from their rooms, I assume there will be more traffic to those forward elevators. Only time will tell.

Just for reference, this is the Quiet Cove on the Dream (pre dry dock). The curved area on deck 12 is where the new Funnel Puddle is.

See pic....

The "quiet cove" isnt really quiet...LOL The families above should be concerned about the noise from there overflowing.

The new wading pool will be a welcome addition to a relatively dead area on the dream. We are talking a boat here folks, there isnt that much room to do new things and this spot was being wasted by 4 chairs and 2 tables. Dont fret, a small wading pool is not going to ruin your vacation

DH and i loved the Deck 12 area...there was often live music there and still relatively low key. There were kids, but not a lot. It was a happy medium between the adult areas and the people soup down below in the main area. My kids could still find us and sit with us, but it wasn't crazy busy and we could usually always find free loungers. Maybe i shouldn't say that too loud!

The additions to the concierge deck were so needed! I've only ever poked my head out the door up there twice. Never tempted to stay even with the lure of the events. It was like an oven up there!

Yes! We sat out there occasionally in the evenings but it was way too hot in the day. No shade and nowhere to get wet is just stupid. Glad they finally remedied it. Too bad it's too late for us. We just cruised on the Dream in early September.

It is hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like they shaded the entire concierge sun deck.:( I agree it was way too hot up there without any shade areas, so i can't wait to see additional pictures. Will get to it it in December, but i imagine, someone will post additional pictures by then. i do love the addition of a hot tub though, if you can move kids out of the way to enjoy it! including my own, of course!

The pictures I saw it looked like the center of the area was shaded but you could still sit in the sun on either side if you wanted. I think this is the perfect mix.

Is every room in the kids area except Andys room now just computers or video games? I am hoping there is more to do than just screen time for this kids especially younger ones.

Very true...it gets very hot and I'm looking forward to being able to sit up there and read. :-)
