Can anyone please give me any ideas about quieter rooms?
I took the plunge and booked 6 nights at CS in Jan 2005.
It will be myself, my DD 6 and DH and we're travelling from the UK.
I'm uncertain as to whether I'll be able to fax through a request any way as we arranged the holiday through Virgin but intend to give it a try
:D
I've read the room preference notes posted on the AllEars website and am a little confused as to what to put as my main preference, and why!
Sorry if that sounds confusing:confused:
Basically, my DH is registered disabled as the result of a longstanding brain tumour and finds walking long distances difficult sometimes (stairs are no problem). I am his registered carer and, as such, don't really like to leave him alone for long periods of time or be too far away when DD and myself go off to do things.
I guess that what I would like is a quiet room, not too far away from the pool / playground but also not miles away from the bus stops, reception area, restaurants etc.
Does such a place exist and, if it does, what should I ask for?
Any input would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

alisonbestford,

I think that you might like the Cabanas. Building 9B is about 5 minutes from both the main pool and dig site as well as the main building where the restaurants are located. There is also a quiet pool nearby.

During our most recent trip, we stayed in Casitas 1 because, to put it bluntly, we're lazy and wanted to be as close to the restaurants as possible. We weren't too concered about a pool.

We like to sleep in and found both areas very quiet. We were NOT on the bottom floor so I think this may help as well. There are elevators, if needed.

If you look through this thread, there are some great websites with maps and photos.

You shouldn't hesitate to ask to use a wheel chair for your husband while at your resort or in the parks. You will be doing more walking than you realize and the Florida sun can be brutal.

I hope this helps.

cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge

cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building.

cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above.

ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

The casitas are close to the gym, spa and have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building.

We stayed in Cabanas 9B second floor. It was close to everything and very quiet.

I requested Cabanas for our stay. What do you veterans think our chance are for two connecting rooms the week right before 4th of July? Should I have even bothered? I don't want to set myself up for disappointment.

alisonbestford - you should be able to state medical reasons for your room preferences. That should help. :D

Which of the Cabana buildings are non-smoking?

And if you rent one of those 4 seater surrey bikes, do 4 people pedal or 2 peddle and 2 ride along?

Thanks! :bounce: :sunny:

A few questions:
Is there a laundray facility right by the dig site or are they just by the quiet pools.
Do they give you shampo and/or conditioner in the room.

Thanks.

According to others, they do provide a generic all in one shampoo bottle. But I recommend going to Target or Walmart and picking up a $2 bottle for your own use and preference.

what do all of you prefer....

Cabanas or Ranchos?

I know that there are many of you who like both, and its hard to say which is better....

I was just hoping to get some feedback on these two sections so that I can fianlly decide which to request!!

thanks!

Hi everyone, I just got DSL and now I would like to share some photos of CSR I took when I was there with my son in Sept. 2003. I'm still working on it and will have more to add later on.

Wow! Those are some great pictures! Thank you for sharing! :sunny:

This thread has convinced us to stay at CSR for our Oct vacation. I need help with building selection. I am leaning toward staying in Cabana's 9B, do any of the rooms actually face Lago Dorado? It appears , from the map I have, that the rooms face more toward El Centro. Your help is greatly appreciated.

9b really doesn't face El Centro, well maybe the stairs on the end and a small portion of the back. The back side faces a small lake and the front faces the beach and another small portion of Lago Dorado that is separated from the larger portion by the wooden bridge.

So Buzz, if you have a standard room reserved not waterview, can still possibly get Cabanas 9B?
