I had been seeing the commercial for weeks now, and had no idea that it was a Universal commerical. Clever idea! It never shows the parks at all, just this guy in a suit and at the end it gives you a website address iwantmyvacation.com. When I finally decided to check out the website, thats when I got it! Very Clever! Did anyone else know, or am I really that slow???

You're right, it is clever! It's also recycled from a couple/few? years ago! If you go to the sight you can play the "Bash The Boss" game. :rotfl2:

I've seen that commercial several times already and have been meaning to go to the website just to check it out. I had no idea it was for Universal!

I was totally clueless when I first saw the commerical. I initially thought it was about a campaign by people to companies to give more vacation time to their employees. ie; Europeans have more vacation time than Americans (4-6 weeks, vs 2 weeks.) I had been reading about something similar in travel magazines. But when I finally visited the website, I was laughing, because they really got me with that one!! :rotfl: :rotfl: Very Clever!

You chaps only get 2 weeks vacation time???!!! So once you have had your main summer vacation what happens if you need another week off for a family wedding or a few days off to watch the kids while they are ill? That's really rotten!

Flo (in England, with 5 weeks, and suddenly feeling very grateful for that!)

Yep. DH has been working with the company for 5 years so they just increased it to 3 weeks. He also has the option to BUY 1 week (5days) of vaction a year. We also only get 6 weeks maternity leave. I hear Canadians get 1 year!!!

The commercal is great. I love the actor , James Morrison. He was great in Space: Above and Beyond

we're similar on that front then - only 6 weeks maternity here too (paid), but then we can take a further 11 weeks at a very low rate of pay, then some more time off unpaid - up to a maximum of 9 months

I live in South Florida and get 4 weeks off.
I think they'd do good with a promotion aimed at northern people to warm up. I never read about them coming down to get away from the snow. Right now is a great time to visit.

Before leaving my previous employer, I was getting 4 weeks vacation, and we could accumulate up to 8 weeks without penalty. But I was with that employer for 13.5 years. With my current employer who I have been with for only 2.5 years, I only receive 2 weeks vacation + 2 personal days. Thats the major downside to leaving a job for a new one, especially after being there for so long. You lose valuable time. Fortunately this time next year I will have 3 weeks vacation. So I am definitely looking forward to that. With so little vacation time, it sometimes forces you to be more selective in your vacation choices. But so far, I have been able to squeeze 2-3 trips a year out of so little time. Creativity goes a long way :smooth:

I would take more vacation time over a pay raise any day :teeth:
