Well, I just read Mousesavers and the new changes are here. I'm bummed out to see that there will be higher prices on week-ends. They also "closed the loophole" as Deb calls it and you will be charged based on each night of your stay. Not just when you check in like before. Thought you all would like to know.

Charging holiday rates during the holiday makes sense to me! That's what most other hotels do as well. The same goes for charging different prices on different days of the week. Business hotels generally charge a lot more Sunday through Thursday and discount the weekend - whereas resort hotels charge more for the weekend.

At least if you travel during value season there isn't an increase on weekends.

No weekend increase if you are in a deluxe during value or regular season.

Now that's good news. We always go 2nd week in December and it's good to know that our rates won't fluctuate throughout the week. <whew>

The one quote I was able to get for March 20-26 (over Easter) had no increase for the weekend. It was for GF Garden view--same price Thursday night-Tuesday night ($530!). That was my "pipe dream" quote. Wish I could get back on the site and check out some other options!

Just received a rate of $65.60 per night for our Jan. 1-6 trip. Glad to see our trip rates didn't change. I didn't see that the rates were not changing during value season. Did I miss that part in Mousesavers?:confused3

Different resorts have weekend rates in different seasons. No one has them in Value season and DVC resorts don't have them at all

Ugh, I had a room booked for June 30-July 5 at POFQ. And now that cost is more than $100 more than what I was tenatively quoted. :sad2: Now I am back to rethinking where I want to stay, and for how long.

Im definitely disappointed in the changes. I was really hoping that to compensate for the weekend increase, they might lower the weekday rates a tiny bit. Magical wishing on my part I guess. Ah well, at least there arent weekend rates during value and regular.

It just makes me sad that Disney is trying to discourage weekend only visitors. We may not come and stay for 14 days at one time, but our 3 night trips, when taken 5 or 6 times a year, really add up.

Another FL resident disappointed in higher weekend rates. I go several times a year for just weekends, I prefer moderate resorts.

Same here Dis. I really feel like these changes were made with no regard to Florida Residents and as a big time Disney fan, that makes me really sad.....We love the mods as well, but were hoping to spring for our first deluxe this year. Now, that seems even less likely.

The Fl Res Codes are nice, but my experience has been that they are hard to find availability at all, much less for a resort of your choosing.

Hello!
Does anyone know if Thankgiving is concidered a Regular or Holiday season? If Regular, doeas that mean that the weekend rates stay the same?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I looked up prices on Disney's website it gives me higher rates for Fri, Sat, and Sun during January at all levels. This is from Jan 18th-22nd.
Pop was 92.00 weekends and 82.00 for Monday night.

I thought this was value season??

It looks like Thanksgiving has its own rate catatory for '08. For the values, standard view is $109/night, preferred is $121/night for the Thanksgiving Holiday. For the moderates, standard view is $175/night, water view is
$195/night for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The deluxes vary according to resort & view.

You're being charged extra for the Martin Luther King Holiday.

Yes, it looks like there are certain weekends, on which holidays occur where they have higher rates in effect, no matter the season.

I am very glad though to see that there are not weekend rates (in general) for value & moderate season.

But I do think that the day to day seasonal rates thinks stinks, at least it does for us! Now, any December vacations for us have to come to an end by December 19th. We like to stay until about the 23rd, because there are still not many people there, so I was hoping they would tweak it so that holiday season started somewhere around the 23rd. But I guess not.

Thabks so much!!!:goodvibes

I just checked online for Feb 2008. This year we checked in the Wed before Pres week and have the value rate for our 8 night stay. For 2008 using the same time period my room price would increase $840. The GV Poly rate for value only increased $11 per night in 2008. So instead of paying and additional $88 next year it would be $840.

I realized most hotels price like this & Disney has every right to make this change. However for my family this change will keep us from booking our Feb vacation at Disney in 2008.

It will be interesting to see what effect this will have on guest levels. I suspect a lot of people who usually checked in 12/19 to be there for Christmas at the value rate will be priced out.
