If we end up changing from AoA to anywhere else, CBR is my choice... but only can do it if a room discount comes out!

Just booked today for November 26-30! I haven't been to CBR in a few years and just read on this thread about the refurbishment. What buildings are finished already, and which ones will most likely be done by late November?

QUESTION: I was wondering if there are rooms that have a water view with the fireworks in the distance.

I know there are lagoon views and that you can see some of the higher fireworks from the beach; is there a location where 2nd story guests would get the "best of both worlds"? Are the "frozen fireworks" also visible from the resort or just the epcot?

Perhaps it is just me, but although the map of CBR is excellent, I cannot visualize where Epcot, DHS, MK are in relation to the resort. Help?

ps: Love all the information here--it's really made me "fall in love" with my resort before even arriving. I so hope its as great as everyone here seems to think!

Just got back late last night from our Walt Disney World stay.

I can honestly say, I will NEVER cheat on the Moderate Resorts again. EVER.

To create more of a "budget trip" for us this last time around, we changed our reservation from CBR to ASMovies. :sad2: We really wanted to add MNSSHP to our itinerary and though how fun would it be to try out the theme of Movies!

My husband is still upset with me. ;) Poor values. Honestly, I love all the Disney resorts, but, wow, the crowd is TOTALLY different.

I will not cheat on you again, CBR!!!! :grouphug:

We agree, the make up of guests staying at any resort impacts the overall vibe at that resort. In addition, we believe time of year plays a role, too.

WOW! That is really unfortunate! I've stayed at the Deluxes and Values. The last two times we went we stayed at Disney Movies because our daughter just loves it. And both times were really perfect. And we stayed in August no less, in front of the pool! Maybe it was just your specific crowd because our crowd was just fine.
It's funny because the one time we had any problems was when we stayed in the Beach club, and there were some REEEEEAAALLLY loud new yorkers that were just screaming! Me and my wife were walking outside and heard them cursing up a storm. They weren't angry, they were just really really REALLY loud and punctuating it with obscenities. We saw a Cast member beeline it for the area they were in (which was inside no less).
Crazy.
So yeah...i guess it just depends on the crowd at the time. :confused3

This summer (2015)will be our first time at a Moderate. (CBR) and we're hoping for a good crowd! :)

Well, it's true you can never really gauge a crowd by just the resort alone. HOWEVER, this particular crowd in September scarred my husband so much, he was like, "We are NEVER staying at a Value resort again. EVER." ;)

We witnessed some pretty horrifically mannered people this time around. :scared1:

We must have been unlucky this time, and super lucky last time we were at CBR! He also thought the CM's at CBR were much nicer and friendlier. I remarked to the pool guy CM that the resort was full of "treasured guests". He laughed and laughed, for he probably knew what I meant. LOL.

Either way, we still had a great time everywhere else!

Yes, indeed, the time of year definitely changes the crowd! I cannot figure out quite yet how I want to categorize September. ;)

May so far has been our favorite month to visit. Not necessarily as slow as September, but a great time to visit!

We are here now and going on night #6. We have had a great time. Anyone please let me know I'd you want pics of anything or have any questions. Thanks!

Are there ping pong tables at CBR? My daughter has suddenly become obsessed with knowing the answer to this!

If you request a specific building, say Jamaica 45, and don't get it, are you likely to be placed elsewhere in the same village rather than somewhere else entirely ?

Reason I ask is, obviously Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51 appear to be the most popular requests (and therefore are most likely requests to be turned down). Martinique 22 would be my next choice but getting bumped into the rest of Martinique looks closer to OPR than getting bumped into Jamaica 41 or Aruba 56.

They will try to get you close to what you asked for.

Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51 are popular here on the DIS. But really, we are a very small percentage of people at WDW so I wouldn't worry about it too much. There are 64 rooms each in Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51 and maybe 2 or 3 DIS members staying at CBR at any given time. There are sooo many people who go to WDW and don't do any research.

I agree. Now that we have discovered the joy of not being park commandos, we can't seem to stay anywhere else. Our trips have gotten longer now so we can take 2-3 days to enjoy CBR.

We are booked for feb 1-7! First time at WDW for my DH, Ds5 and DD1. :). So excited!

Welcome! I've added your dates.

I don't believe so.

If you have Google Earth, or just visit the google maps site, it gives an excellent visual! Water view buildings in Martinique would allow you to see the higher fireworks at Epcot, while Trinidad South is an awesome location for the Frozen fireworks at DHS!

We just arrived today and got a room in the newly renovated Jamaica buildings. This is our first visit to CBR and we are adoring it! We're normally Riverside fans, but this is slowly winning us over.

Whoohoo! I hope you have a magical stay. We too are converted POR fans. We can't seem to stay anywhere but CBR now. :beach:
