The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

Unless it's changed during the refurb, there is a retractable line just over the tub. I used it many times to dry out swim suits.

Just returned from a trip yesterday where I stayed in a refurb room and I can confirm that the retractable line is still over the tub.

Just got home from the airport. Had a wonderful stay (as always!) at CBR. My request was honored, and we had a remodeled room in Jamaica (Bld 44). I saw that construction has started on Aruba, so that will also be an area to request to get a refurb room in the near future. jb :cool1:
So was the refurb room nice. Make a big difference?

We will be there 9/26 - 10/3. This will be our 2nd time here at the Caribbean. Trying to decide if we want to request a refurbished room. Is there 1 location that is best for toddlers?

Welcome! I've added your dates. Every village has its own quiet pool and bus stop so you are never far from one. Every village has its own beach with a playground on it too, so really there is no bad location fro toddler. We really like Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51. Both are a very short stroll across the bridge to OPR and the main pool. Plus you have to go through Caribbean Cay and our son loves exploring the island. And there's also a playground on the island.

We will be at CBR in October. It is out first stay at the resort. In the past we have always depended on the Food Court of our resort to grab a few quick meals during the week. I have read some pretty discouraging reviews about the food court at CBR. Should I plan on trying to grab meals elsewhere or are the reviews exaggerated? Any advice is appreciated. BTW, it's mostly a random lunch we do at the resort.

I have to say CBR's food court is our favorite of the moderates. I like the way its laid out and there is a very nice selection and we've always enjoyed the quality.

Looking forward to our trip - we're there 3rd-18th of next month: woo!! Quick q: do they have the washing line in the shower? When we stayed at Pop Century there was a retractable line that could be drawn across the bath tub, just wondered if there was one in CBR. :laundy:

I've added your dates! And I concur with Toffeewoffy, our rooms have always had the clothesline in the shower. And I see that joybeth just confirmed that the clothesline is still there after the refurb.

Yep, madouceamie: We will be staying at the CBR for the first time from November 18th to the 26th, so will probably cross paths somewhere along the line. I am a little apprehensive due to the bad reviews given on some links, but at least I think, "it's Disney, what is better than that:)" good luck;)

Welome! I've added your dates to the Beach Bum Roll Call. I understand your apprehension. We felt the same way until our first stay at CBR and now we can't seem to stay anywhere else. It has become our favorite by far and our "home".

Does anyone know when the last DME leaves from CBR each day? Staying through 12/19 but prefer to fly out the 20th and have longer to stay (by staying at the airport).

Any ideas?

Your DME pickup time will be around 3 hours prior to your flight. There is no last DME bus, they run 24 x 7.

Jamaica 45 is right next to the bridge to the island, where they have a nice play area for kids.

Thank you. That may be helpful. With a flight on the 20th, would they let us depart late on the 19th?

Depends on the time of the flight. If your flight is at 2AM on the 20th, you pick up will be around 11PM on the 19th. If your flights at 3AM on the 20th, you pick up will be around Midnight on the 19th, etc.

at the food court does the food come pre done, or can we ask for say pasta with out certain ingredients?

like pasta with out veg or sandwich with out salad in?

Yes, you can substitute at all the stations.

Not during online check in. You will have to call the main reservations line and have that request added to your reservation.

With teh new offers out, I reworked my math and still am coming out ahead with our current trip staying at CBR than if I had waited to apply the ROD to or POP stay...$300 savings still...granted the dining plan is the reason, and getting it free is a huge plus, but even dropping the plan, I know we are still going to be coming out ahead, I just can't see the OOP costs for our meals being much less than the plan would cost...certainly let more than $300 less.

and mainly saying this to bump this back to page one on teh thread lists.

Has anyone been able to get a smoothie as your included beverage at OPR food court with a CS dining credit? Specifically at breakfast?

Please add us to the roll call!! Just booked our first family WDW trip for 10/24-10/30/14:cheer2::love::cool1: Excited to be at CBR for our first trip:cool2:

I have not tried getting a smoothie, but I do know that they have been more restrictive when it comes to substitutions than in years past. Hopefully someone can answer specifically about the smoothies.
