Just got back from a week at POR. Loved it! This was our 4th time there. Its such a beautiful resort. I hope to stay there again in the future.

We are CBR lovers who are thinking about a stay at one of the Port Orleans resorts.

One of our main concerns is how is transportation to and from the parks?

We've never had a problem with transportation, that said.........was it luck? I think the longest we waited was 25-30 min which really didn't bother us. We were there over a week & hopped everywhere. We have waited much, much longer at DL. We all loved taking the ferry to DTD and we probably waited 15 min for it once, caught it minutes before it was leaving the other times. Hope this helps:goodvibes

What is the fax # so i can request a room in the mansions?
I cant bear to call Disney again for such a minor request. Phone calls take too long and i feel like such a nuisance.

thanks

I leave on Tuesday! AH! :woohoo::woohoo::yay:

I had one question though, since I check-in Tuesday, can I call today and tell them my requests for a room? Magnolia Terrace or Oak Manor, High floor..is that too much of a request?

Either way, I CAN'T wait to go!

What would someone say in a fax like this?

In my past requests I have detailed my name, dates of the trip, the fact that I'm looking forward to the vacation, and the section and/or building request and perhaps why you're making the request. Also, if you're celebrating anything special, like a birthday or anniversary, mention that as well.

My first request for AB was not honored. My second request for AB, which was also our 10th anniversary, was honored.

This year we'll be requesting a room in Magnolia Terrace.

Thanks so much! AH! Now this is getting me really excited about the trip! :woohoo:

We were just down there twice this summer. 1st we stayed at the Polynesian. This last time we were at CSR. We had to QS meals and a days worth of passes left so we extended our trip by a night. CRS was booked so we switched to POR. We were out it AB 38. Thank goodness we were on the ground floor. I would probably never book this resort due to lack of elevators. W/ 2 little ones and a stroller this just seems very impracticable. And can you fill your mugs at the main pool? If not, that is just crazy to have to walk that far and I don't think I would purchase them if we were to stay there and be as far out as we were. The next thing was our room had a smell. We were in room 3817 and it smelled like stinky socks or just on old hotel room. I thought the theming was neat. I think I would have liked the mansions much better. I am not the camping or rustic type. I also couldn't believe the difference in the towel quality. They were awful at POR. Plus the bath stuff was different. I couldn't believe that you didn't get lotion. CSR gets the two different round bar soaps, lotion, shampoo and conditioner (seperate). I don't understand the difference since they are both moderates. I guess I was just surprised at some of the differences in two moderates. Overall beautiful place, but probably wouldn't pick it again.

We just got back from a 10 night stay at POR. This is our 3rd stay at POR, and I have mixed reviews.

The good: As always, the atmosphere was lovely! The resort was booked to capacity, but it didn't feel crowded. Many cms were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the pool (both Old Man Island and the quiet pool) and the laundry room was kept clean and all of the machines we used were in working condition. The boat to DTD was great! We loved Bob Jackson's show at the River Roost! We liked the iced tea machine in the food court. I don't remember it being there on previous visits. It was nice to use POFQ's pool for an afternoon.

The not-so-good: The resort is showing wear-and-tear and IMHO the rooms are in need of a rehab. Our carpet and bedspreads looked worn and there were marks/chipped paint on our wall. Our Parterre Place location was not convenient (I requested AB) especially for a long stay. Mousekeeping did not do a great job with cleaning our room. There were pretzels on the floor from a previous guest and other signs that our room wasn't too clean. On the flip side, our mousekeeper did odd displays (rather than towel animals) with some of our stuff nearly every day. Once I download photos, I'll post pictures. I had an impossible time with getting a BB brochure in our room. After multiple requests to both mousekeeping and the front desk, we never did get the brochure. I finally took it upon myself to call the Disney Info. number to ask what the current BB offer was and I did book a trip, but it shouldn't have been such a hassle to try and get the brochure (which never materialized).

Bus service was hit-or-miss. Because of our far-flung room location, we equally used either the East or South Depots. We waited 40 (!) minutes 2 times for a bus (Epcot and Studios), and one of those times was during the morning which made us late for rope drop. Other times, the bus came within 10 minutes or less. Buses were crowded, though we did get seats most of the time.

We had a good trip and enjoyed ourselves, but next year we're giving CSR a try because of the rehabbed rooms. I'm hoping to stay at POR again in 2011 and am hoping they'll do a rehab between now and then.

My DW & I stayed at Dixie Landings in Jan. 1999 & Nov. 2000.
Our first trip was before we had kids & the second was with an 11-month old.
We are now returning w/ our three DDs.

Have there been many changes to the resort (other than a name change) since then?

Hi:
This question came up in another thread, and I can't seem to find verification anywhere. For a family of 5 (using the trundle) does Disney require your 5th person to be 9 (or under).

We are a family of 5 that has stayed at POR when our kids were younger, and were thinking about staying there again (we have 3 twelve year olds). As it stands we are staying at the Dolphin, but I always thought that POR was still an option for us. (I realize it is a little tight, but we are pretty low key and don't spend much time in the room. Also my boys are not super tall and the trundle is still fine for 1 of them, heck they sleep fine on the ground when camping!).

It is a rule that our 5th needs to be 9 or under, or just a recommendation? I thought I would ask the experts!
