Have the rooms at POR been renovated or updated recently, or does anyone know the last time they were renovated? Just curious. Looking forward to our stay here. Thanks!! :)

And fantastic pictures; I have the pic of the lobby on my work computer this week.... ah, to dream being there......;)

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I've got a TON more photos which I've been sorting through and trying to work out the best way to upload and illustrate the site better, so keep your eyes open.

I'm sure this has been asked.... are the rooms slated to remodeling at the POR resort, or has the remodel already been done over the last few years?

Hello fellow POR lovers!! We just got back from a week+ at CSR (don't hate me for cheating:rolleyes1). CSR is a beautiful resort, but it's no POR. We missed the Riverside Mill, boat to DTD and shady picturesque paths through the resort. We did take a sojourn to POR for lunch and dessert one afternoon and we instantly realized that our next trip to WDW will be back at POR.

Just wanting to make sure before we leave in less than two weeks since it has been a couple of years since our last POR stay and we weren't making our own coffee at home then...

I know the coffee makers are the basket style brewing machines, so in theory we should have no trouble taking down our coffee grinder and beans and using our own to make the coffee each morning, right?

In theory, I would say you are correct. That being said, I don't know that I would like the sound of a cofee grinder running next door while I'm still trying to sleep, and they aren't exactly quiet.
You might want to consider grinding the coffee the night before, so it's ready for the next morning.

Our first disney trip is less than 20 days away and I CANT wait to get to POR to check it out!

A Few quick questions:

I have seen a ton of pictures of the main pool, and the quiet pools- but I have never seen a pic of the little kids shallow pool (they have one right?) Is it just attached to the main pool?

How deep is the water in the slide area? Do you have to know how to swim to go down the slide, or could I catch my 4yo after he goes down?

Can we bring a beach ball in the pool? Can we buy one at the resort gift shop?

CREATIVE HELP NEEDED-------
My sister and her family (4yo,9yo,12yo) are arriving at POR 3 days after we leave. I would LOVE to hide something somewhere around the resort and give my nieces and nephew clues to find whatever I hide-

What should I try to hide? (I was thinking a penny, but would love other ideas)

Where can I hide it?

OH-Also, Would I be able to leave a small gift for them at the front desk on the day we check out (Thursday) and ask them to give it to my sister on their check in day (Sunday)

Thanks!

They aren't that loud... certainly no louder than a flushing WDW toilet! And the grinder only runs for maybe 5 seconds and it's done. I'll wrap it in a towel to deaden the sound. :thumbsup2

LOL. No need to do that. The blowdryers are louder than a coffee grinder.
We have found that POR has much better sound proofing than CSR and the values. The only noise that really seems to carry are people making noise outside your door or kids jumping up and down in the room above.
If you keep the bathroom door closed you will not be disturbed by flushing toilets.
Enjoy your coffee.... We fly otherwise I would bring my own coffee maker .
I sure miss my Keurig.

Single digits!:banana::banana::banana:

Did our online check-in this morning. Made another last minute ADR. Gotta start that packing list tonight, too. :)

4 days until we check into POR and I can not wait!! I looks so great!! This is our first trip to WDW and we are soooo ready!! :woohoo::cool1::banana::banana::banana:

This is our favoriate resort to stay at - riverside that is. French quarter is nice but POR is spread out and there is room to breathe. Taking a nice walk in the morning or at nice is always nice. I am amazed at all the animals that are out in the late nite and early morning.

Definately going back!!!!

I wanted to join in here and say that we just decided to book a stay at POR Water View from 9/9-9/16 and we are also on the DxDP. We originally had a CR MK Tower View Room booked, but decided that we wanted to save some money so here we are. We had stayed at POR once before back in 2007, but was for 3 nights and have been looking forward to returning since. When we last stayed there we were in building #14 in the AB section which we absolutely loved (close to EVERYTHING), so I called and requested the same location and building....I know a request is request, but we didn't want to be stuck in the back of the resort. We are all very excited about our stay :goodvibes

I would like to request a building, can I do that using online check in or do I have to call? If I have to call what is the appropriate time to call (like 2 weeks before trip, or the day before)?
