The MURPHYS are LIVE from the Animal Kingdom Lodge & Yacht Club 5/30-6/8

Sorry to hijack your TR Erika but just to clarify, if you book a CL DVC studio you will be on the 6th floor only and there's only a max of 5 available and that's only if no one books a 2 bedroom which would take up one of the 5. If you book a non-cl dvc studio you will be on the 5th floor. OK, carry on now....

Thank you! I totally read that question wrong and was zero help. :lmao:

Hope you and your family have a great week. Thanx for all the pictures.
RE. wine cart: wonder if abuse by some guests (taking bottles of wine back to their room?) means Disney has to babysit all club level guests.

I'm wondering that too but you could still get your own at AKL, right? I'm really curious if you can get beer and wine at other times. Maybe they're testing it out to see how it goes. I know when we stayed at the Ritz on club level they had everything sitting out on a display and you just told them what you wanted so maybe they think this is classier??? Who knows!

Yes, and that is what club level lounge should be- quiet havens with top-notch service.

I bet you're right and they are testing this and it may move to all resorts. :rolleyes2

I searched for "guest abuse of club level" and found this from Tikiman from 2012:

In the past I have warned about abuse from guests and its effects on the offerings that Disney has in the club level lounges. We know in the past that offerings have changed because of the abuse of what was being offered. Water bottles no longer are out for guests because at check out multiple unopened bottles were found in rooms that had to be thrown out. Other offerings have been limited because of people taking much more than their share. I know some say they are getting for their family back at the room but we have to remember that there are guests that are in line and present at the lounge at the time the food is being put out so taking all that is left of something for those who can’t even walk to the lounge seems to be unfair to those who take the effort to be in the lounge. I have seen this myself many times where a whole line of people watch one or two people take a majority or even all of something that was put out before anyone else can get a sample. I just got an email from a guest in Hawaii right now that reported that some members of a family in the building showed up at the evening offerings with containers and filled them with all the available offerings to take back to the room, leaving none for the others in the lounge until the staff could make more. This sort of abuse will lead Disney to reducing the offerings or limiting the amount in some way. Let’s all try and have more respect for others and not take too much at one time."

Rereading my earlier post at the top of page 11...it sounds like it came on a bit too strong about the wine cart. It is what it is...I liked it better when the beer and wine are just put out for people to decide how much or how little they want to drink. My husband and I are not big drinkers, so it really does not impact us. I guess it just seemed, for whatever the reason or cause, that by having a drink cart is a step in a negative direction for customer satisfaction and overall ambience. But that really is just my opinion. :goodvibes

I think you're correct that guest abuse has ruined it for the rest of us and we don't even drink much alcohol from the lounge, it's really just the principle for me.

When I mentioned the cart to DH this morning, he thought it was a great idea and would reduce abuse, whereas I thought it was another example of Disney "economizing." He reminded me of the occasions we have seen guests taking multiple beers out of the fridge and making multiple trips back and forth to their room with wine and beer and then later seeing these and other guests checking-out with coolers on rollers. A CL CM once told us that some guests do check-out with bottles of beer that they take home with them from the lounge, so it must be a pervasive CL problem.

Disney CLs are also in a precarious position when it comes to underage consumption. There's a sign displayed in all the CLs regarding FL alcohol laws and it states that CMs will ask for ID. I have never personally witnessed any CM asking for ID, but I suppose the CL Bartender may soon have that task added to their responsibilities:confused3

We are now SDMT experts. You have to sit in the back of the train and have all 4 people swinging in unison!!! The ride was a million times better!!!!

We will look for you! :)

Thanks for posting those pics. Considering that I know what your entire family looks like, I'll make sure to say 'hey' if I see you. I think on the SWW thread you said you'd be at DHS this weekend? I'll keep an eye out for you.

I'm torn about the wine cart. While I also love the self-serve beer and wine, when we were at AKL CL last summer DH and I both saw a guy absolutely empty bottles of liqueur--I mean, he took the whole thing. I seem to remember this being an issue more at the AKL CL than at the Poly CL (where we were earlier in the week) but DH might remember more than me.

I do think it is an effort to curb abuse rather than cut costs. I don't mean to be obnoxious, but many of us have seen excessive greed from some other guests--I would not be surprised if Disney is trying to crack down on that.

Great room view, Erika!!

They've actually replaced the fridge in the lounge with a smaller one.

I assume the smaller fridge is for the sodas, milk, juice, cream cheese, butter and yogurt?

Sheesh, Erika... I don't know who's at Disney more... you, or MickeysToonTown
Who am I kidding... we all know it's you :thumbsup2
Now i gotta see if my tweetreader app still works.
Hope y'all have all kinds of fun.

The first CM you encounter will send you either into load zone 1 or 2. The second CM is the one you tell you want the back. He or she will put you into another separate waiting area for people who want the back. :) Have fun!

Yes! We will be there Friday and Saturday! :)

No milk in the fridge, just coke, diet coke, sprite, and the butter and cream cheese in the morning only. They did have some plain greek yogurt with blueberries sprinkled on top this morning over by the bagels. :thumbsup2

LOL! When we walked into La Cava today we were greeted with a "Hey we haven't seen you guys in a while" :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

When we got back from Epcot this afternoon DH asked a CM for a beer and was given one. So it appears that is still allowed. However when he asked for a plastic cup he was told they no longer have them.
There are still styrofoam cups over by the water and juices.

Great report, I remember reading the one with the room problems at YC last year. Glad this year is better - great view from the room:goodvibes

The floor seems completely dead compared to this same week last year. There appears to be a large convention going on so maybe that's why we haven't seen many people milling about.

That sounds great. It's always nice to feel like you aren't running around large packs of people!!! Those quiet moments where you can actually enjoy the atmosphere. I love that. Have a great dinner!!!
