Act Three:
We were not wrong that this might be a great place to see Illuminations, as you can see from below!
Following Illuminations we grabbed wristbands for Extra Magic Hours so we could use our fastpasses for Test Track and then headed to the bus to go back to Pop. Magic Kingdom was up next and we needed our sleep!
Lin...wonderful trip report! I feel like I'm right next to you eating and riding rides. Can you elaborate on the tree spot? Seems like I can never find the right spot for illuminations?

Hey YM!
Go the counter service in Mexico and of course grab some tasty nachos. Then walk around to the seating area and in the exact center behind the restaurant but still within the restaurant seating there is a big tree planted with one of those brick planters around it. It butts up right to the fence surrounding the lagoon so no one can get in front of you!

Act Four:
Scene One:
Location: Magic Kingdom!
We were up and at em the next morning and ready to go. We got to Magic Kingdom and headed straight for Pirates of the Caribbean to check out the update.
The wait was probably 5 minutes and it was pretty cool. Since they wont let you take flash photos and we didnt feel like getting yelled at I only got one photo and it isnt very good, soI'm not going to post it. But, I did get a picture of the infamous Marc Davis Chess Game in the que line!
Afterward I took pictures of the outside and then we headed to the Jungle Cruise.
The line for Jungle Cruise was about a half hour and during it we got a little worried about whether we would be able to eat at 50s Prime Time the next day so I called and made an ADR. I think we had also just missed the Dream Squad in this part of the Magic Kingdom, as all of the sudden there were tons of people with Dream Fastpasses around their necks. We also caught site of Disney newbies getting spit on from Aladdins camels and looking around to figure out where it had come from. That always cracks me up.
Then we walked around for a while and headed towards Fantasyland for some lunch at Pinocchios Village Haus because I cant go to Disney without a stop for some Figaro Fries! Ashley had never had any and she was quite impressed. We had also managed to beat the lunch crowd and easily snagged a table next to a curtain. There was a big curtain up right beside us in a corner and being the curious gals that we are we had to peak. Oddly it was a table for about 12 blocked off for some unknown reason. We pondered this for a while and then a manager told a Cast Member that was Earning His Ears that it was a private table. Private for who we dont know, and there was really no way to sit at it with the curtain in place, but, it was kind of cool either way. So, next time you are at Pinocchios try to find the mysterious hidden table. Ooohhhh.
After lunch we hit up all the Fantasyland rides and even caught site of Mary Poppins herself riding the Carousel while we waited in line for Snow Whites Scary Adventure.
After Fantasyland we strolled over to Tomorrowland to grab Ashley come fastpasses for Space Mountain and then took a ride on the TTA where Ashley DID NOT keep all hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times. Luckily the Disney Police did not catch her!
After our spin on the TTA we took some pictures of the castle on our way to Adventureland to grab ourselves a Dole Whip before finding a place to watch the new parade. We were easily able to find a spot right in front of the castle, another indication of the low crowd levels! A very lively, middle-aged cast member in the pre-parade bit entertained us and I wish I could remember his name. This guy was hilarious! The parade was decent and I love getting to watch it from a spot in front of the castle. There is something magical watching it with the castle in the background!
Then we headed across the bridge to The Haunted Mansion where there was some serious line confusion. From what I can gather the cast member was starting another line that would loop back and join the first but they hadnt hooked and unhooked all the necessary chains yet and people were getting all kinds of angry at each other. The line was only about 10 minutes long to begin with, but oh well. We enjoyed our trip into the realm of the supernatural and then decided to go see what the wait for Big Thunder Mountain was.

On our way towards BTM we happened upon Woodys Cowboy Camp and I was very excited. My friend Amy is one of the Cowgirls in the show but they dont post times for it or Pirate Training in the times guide for some reason. So, we caught the very end with them all doing the Hokey-Pokey and I got to see Amy for just a second.
Then we continued on to Big Thunder Mountain where we saw the longest wait of our trip, 90 minutes, so we skipped it and headed back to Tomorrowland so Ashley could ride Space Mountain and snag fastpasses for Buzz Lightyear. Along the way we took some pictures of Splash Mountain in its state of refurbishment. It was a very weird site to look up at the drop and see a big sawhorse and light, and no water anywhere.
On our way I noticed that the castle show was about to start so I decided to watch that while Ashley did her thing. The new show is cute. I love having Mickey and the gang back in front with just an appearance by the Princess Brigade. (Dont get me wrong; I like all the princesses, but I LOVE Mickey!) I was glad I got the chance to sit down and watch it. Then I took a few pictures of the Partners statue, my favorite, and headed to meet Ashley at Buzz Lightyear.
We still had some time before we could use our fastpasses and we had spotted a Dream Squad guy wandering aimlessly around Tomorrowland. So, inlight of nothing more pressing to do we followed him for a while to see what he was up too; which turned out to be nothing and we got bored. We had really wanted to get to see him grant a wish, but oh well. So we headed back to Buzz and took our chances against Zurg. (I won).
Then it was back to Fantasyland to take a spin on the Carousel, Teacups and ride Snow White and Peter Pan again. We spotted our Dream Squad guy loitering in front of Winnie the Pooh, but then he started talking to a cast member and we gave up on him doing anything interesting.
At this point we decided to go grab some fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain and then go grab some hot dogs at Caseys before trying to find a spot to watch SpectroMagic. Now we were beginning to see crowds. We managed to eat our hot dogs standing up, which was quite interesting, let me tell you, while watching over the strollers of a family that argued through the whole parade. It was funny. I know it shouldnt have been, but it was, and I had a hard time not laughing out loud.
And off to Thunder Mountain it was. As I am sure you have noticed I dont really do thrill rides, and getting me on this ride is always a challenge. But, it is the one that I will ride so as not to make my party go it alone for all of the rides. We managed to get the very first seat in the train and I have decided that I will now ride it from that seat only. There is not nearly as much speed and you dont get that sickening downward feeling.
Then it was time to find a spot for Wishes and settle in to wait for the fireworks to start. I always watch Wishes from the same spot, but this time they didnt pipe the music in that direction. We couldnt hear it but it was still pretty!
After the fireworks it was time to do some shopping! We shopped our way up and down Mainstreet, USA while waiting for the crowds to thin and the bus lines to get shorter. We took a couple of pictures of some displays, (because I am a retail geek), and decided we needed a snack. So, to the candy store we go! I knew I wanted a caramel apple and Ashley wanted a Rice Krispie Treat and as we were paying we laid eyes on the most gigantic Mickey Rice Krispie we had ever seen. So we bought those too!
Then we did some more shopping and settled down at the Minnie and Roy statue to watch the castle turn colors and take some pictures of it. It was then that we noticed the castle had been orange for quite some time and 30 minutes later it was STILL orange. I like it blue, purple, pink, white, teal, multi but not orange! We waited and waited and it never changed. In the meantime a very hilarious cast member came by selling his light-up things and Ashley took his picture. He was really into his job.
Finally, we gave up and went back to the bus.
The castle was still orange as we drove away!!

Thanks girl. Its a canon something or other...Chris took it to work so I will find out tonight. We got it for Christmas because the one we bought before our trip last year took the WORST night pictures ever. Its great because I can carry it in my pocket!

Lin: your pictures are fantastic! I love the one of you on the carousel, it's so pretty and you really get the sense of motion. I do exactly the same strategy with shopping and relaxing while I wait for the herd to leave the MK! It's so much better to just chill out and shop for that hour or so, than to spend that time waiting in a hot crowded line.
