Hi Dis Family! My wife and I just returned Saturday from our first trip to Walt Disney World and our honeymoon. I have so much I want to share and pics I want you to see but to post it all at once would take a long time which I don't have right now so I will separate my report into each day we were there! Before I move on I do want to thank each and everyone who answered questions and gave tips. It helped wonderfully and I would have been lost without them. :thumbsup2

Let me set the stage … Michelle and I were just married the day before in a beautiful wedding. Michelle grew up poor and her family never could afford more then a 1 day trip to the beach. Not only would this be her honeymoon but her first vacation ever. And the first Disney trip for the both of us.

DW (Michelle) -----> :cheer2:
Me(DH) (Brandon)-----> :yay:

Day 1 April 23, 2006:

At 4:00 am my new wife and I arrive at RDU international airport in Raleigh, NC. This is my first time flying to you can imagine that my nerves were a little wary. Michelle was a little frustrated because we arrived 2 hours before the flight. My logic is to get there early and make sure you make your flight. Besides this was my first time in an airport with the intention to get on a plane so of course I really didn't know what to expect. Our flight took off at 6:00 a.m. I booked a early flight because I wanted to get to WDW ASAP. The sooner the better. I've been through so much planning and surfing on the DIS that the anticipation was eating away at me. We were using Magical Express and had placed our tags onto the luggage. I was a bit worried but put my faith in Disney and hoped for the best. I've heard so many horror about lost luggage and the last thing I wanted on our honeymoon was to buy new clothes and supplies with our honeymoon money. I checked our bags in and we were on the way to POP century and so excited!

At 6:00 am we boarded out flight which was connecting in Atlanta and then off to Orlando. Atlanta is a big airport and can be very confusing. We flew airtran which has it's main hub in Atlanta. When we got off the plane the our next terminal was only a couple hundred feet down the hall so no big deal.

I will not go into deep details about the flight but I did enjoy it . After the first take off and landing it was quite enjoyable. For a first time flyer I was extremely nervous but still very excited. ( I know thats a weird combo) I found out that I like flying but turbulence will take some getting use to. :sad2: But finally at 10:40 am we landed at MCO in Orlando and the excitement grew. I had survived my first place ride and now was on Disney Ground! :yay: I have to say the ride from Atlanta to Orlando was a little nerver racking because of all the screaming kids. I think everyone on that plane was heading for WDW and my luck POP! :guilty: But who cared because we were in ORLANDO!

At this point I was pumped but as soon as we located the Magical Express desk is when I started having serious doubts about choosing WDW for our honeymoon. The line was absolutely horrible and out of control. The Disney cast members were yelling and fussing with everyone around them. They wouldn't let my wife stand in line with me and made her go wait in a separate area to the right. This made me angry but I obliged and kept my mouth shut. After waiting about 45 minutes to see a ME rep I finally got clearance to go to the buses. At this point the lines for each resort are separated and you go down your resort line. The lines for this were horrible as well and once again we had to wait about another 45 minutes before being escorted outside and sat on a bus.

This whole experience was horrible and unorganized. Add a million little kids screaming and you get a miserable time! The only other thing I didn't like was that we were put on a regular Mears bus. I had planned for months, studied WDW and was looking forward to the magic starting at ME but instead we got a regular, smelly bus which had no WDW magic. Some may think I'm too picky or ungrateful but it was nothing like I was expecting. Next time I will not use ME but instead pay $80.00 for a town car round trip. I know its free but you get what you pay for. I didn't pay anything and I got NOTHING! After the bus ride we ended up getting to the resort about 1:30 p.m. This is a very colorful resort with a strong Disney feel to it which is exactly what I wanted. So far I loved it. Driving up I could see the large yo-yo and bowling pin which made me feel like a kid. It was kind of refreshing and a relief. Getting off the bus we were carrying only our carry ons which was wonderful not having to carry around all our luggage. We walked into the lobby which was nice but once again the Disney magic was sucked out of the air when I saw the check in line.
Please let me say I’m expecting something magical and unforgettable but once again I was faced with a long line of people checking in and checking out. I was upset because there was like 20 cast members checking people in/out and yet it still took about an hour to finally get to a desk to check in. We finally checked in and we given our king bed room. It was handicapped accessible but we didn’t care because we got our king bed which was very comfortable. After getting in our room and settled we were very hungry and went down to the food court for something to tie us over until our 7:00 reservations as Wolf Gang Pucks in DTD.

Upon entering the food court we were bombarded by huge crowds, loud kids which seemed as if they had a mission to scream and cry. I was becoming depressed, sad and really was regretting this trip and wishing I had went somewhere else instead. This was the exact opposite of what I expected and was ready for it to end. The food was so so and but fulfilled the need for the moment. After about an hour in the food court Michelle ( My wife ) and I went back to the room to find our luggage sitting there safely and all there. Finally something good and something that worked right. ME had done its job on the luggage and things seems to start turning around. Michelle and I got dressed and headed for DTD. After a short walk to Wolf Gang Pucks we arrived and requested a table outside next to the lake. We were seated outside and it was so beautiful. The sun was setting and temp was perfect. Everything bad that had happened that day was starting to melt away and Michelle and I were truly enjoying Disney. The food here at Wolf’s was probably the best I’ve ever had. Michelle felt the same way. We were on the dining plan and was able to order what ever we pleased. I will get into the dining plan later but it was the best investment I have ever made. The chance to choose what ever you want off the menu without having to worry about the price is AWESOME and we loved it. After we left we caught a movie and then headed back to POP. What started as a bad day at Disney turned out in the end to be romantic and perfect. Perhaps things were starting to turn around. We would have to see because the next day I was going to surprise Michelle with a breakfast at POLY because she loves LILO and Stitch and then off to the Magic Kingdom.

Congratuations on your wedding!! It is too bad the start of your trip was not magical but sounds like the first day ended with some magic ;)

I have concerns with ME as well; it will be my youngest 2 first trip & am rethinking about renting a limousine service so everything goes great.

Can't wait to read more! :thumbsup2

Congratulations on your marriage! Glad you started feeling the magic by the end of the day! My dh and I were at DTD that night too! Only we were at Raglan Road celebrating our 13th anniversary! :goodvibes

I can't wait to read the rest of your report and see the pics! Hopefully you made memories to last a lifetime! :thumbsup2

Congratulations on your marriage. Sorry about the delay at Magical Express. The two times I've used it, there have been no lines.

Thanks for posting. I can't wait to here more.

Congrats. We honeymooned in WDW in 1999 and it was wonderful. I look forward to hearing more.

Congratulations on your marriage!

My first vacation was my honeymoon as well, although we didn't go to disney. It was my husband's first plane ride, and now he's addicted!

I hope we get to hear about how magical your trip really was :wizard:

Day 2 April 24, 2006:

I wake Michelle up about 6:00am. She’s a little cranky and wants to sleep but I assure her that she needs to get up out of bed. We go ahead and get dressed for the parks and head out the door to the bus stop. Little does she know that we have breakfast reservations at POLY. This breakfast is with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto. She loves the movie Lilo and Stitch and of course loves Mickey. As I said in Day 1 she grew up very poor. A vacation to her was a day or two at the beach. This Disneyworld trip was a big deal for her. When I first told her we were going to WDW she burst into tears because she had always wanted to go. Now I was going to surprise her with something I know she would love. But first we had to get there. Our reservations were at 7:40 a.m. and we take the bus to Magic Kingdom. Upon arriving at the Magic Kingdom we head to the monorail stop. The monorail pulls into the station and the doors open. To our surprise we are the only ones on the monorail. I ask the driver if we could ride up front. He obliged and we hopped in. Riding in the front was very cool because we got to speak to the driver and see every thing! It was awesome. Everything from the day before was now in the past! This was WDW and we were enjoying it!

Upon arrival to the Poly, Michelle didn’t know anything else expect that we were there for breakfast. We sat down and the cast members couldn’t have been nicer. The hotel was wonderful and the Ohana’s atmosphere was great! We were sat right next to the window and immediately were brought fruit and juices. As we began chowing down before the main course who should appear but Mickey himself dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and coming toward our table. I look at Michelle and she started crying. This even brought tears to my eyes. Her whole life she watched Disney movies, had Disney toys and dreamed of coming to WDW. Now at this moment everything had come to fruition and there she was hugging Mickey Mouse like a long lost friend who she hadn’t seen in years. I think Mickey noticed her crying and stayed at our table longer than normal to play with her. This was truly magical and brings tears to my eyes typing this. Every dollar spend, every hour planning was worth it just to see her happy. After Mickey left other characters came over and we took pictures.

After the characters the food came out and it was fantastic! All you could eat bacon, sausage, eggs, and potatoes. Yummmmm … If only I could be there now! After we couldn’t eat anyone we checked out and headed for the monorail back to the MK. I looked at my watch and it said 8:45 am. I was pumped … we would actually get to see the opening ceremony at MK. Once we arrived and in the ceremony started and it was truly magical. Seeing Mickey come in on a train and open the park was wonderful and pure Disney!

Walking into the park was wonderful and made me feel like a kid. Every thing was so clean and perfect. There was also a sense of relief because I was finally there. I had seen so many pictures on Dis and around the internet that I thought I knew what to expect but the castle took my breath away. WOW. This was WDW and it was living up to the billing. Walking down main street was surreal and reality begin to hit me … We’re here!

Michelle and I walked in the Emporium and went straight to the Mickey Ears. We brought the bride and groom ears which are a must if you are on a honeymoon. You get so much attention with these things! I could go into detail about every single thing we did but it wouldn’t take me all day and I don’t feel like typing that much so I will give you the highlights and reviews.

Stitches Great Escape: This was a fun experience leading up to it. The animatronics were great but the end it self was a letdown. It seemed as if it should have had more.

Philhar Magic: Awesome! Best attraction of the week! Wonderful effects and entertaining!

Space Mountain: Fun but ride shutdown right before we got on and we had to wait for about 25 minutes standing next to the car. You can tell it’s an old ride but still nice.

IASM: Was stupid. Michelle loved it but I couldn’t wait for it to end!

Splash Mountain: Long ride and lots of fun and a classic. Awesome drop!

Thunder Mountain: Fun but a little bumpy. I came off of this ride a little sore.

POC: I liked this ride as well did Michelle. It’s old but a classic and nicely done. Much longer than I expected.

Jungle Cruise: This ride was 50/50. It’s old and the robots are kind of dated but it was at night which is cool and our boat driver was very entertaining which made up for the other stuff.

Haunted Mansion: Very detailed and fun. Because it was old I wasn’t expecting much but the effects were great. Defiantly a ride beyond it’s time when it came out!

Buzz Light Year: Very cool ride and short wait. The cars are constantly moving and we didn’t have to wait at ALL!

Hall of Presidents: This was something I was looking forward to and it didn’t let down. They look real and it’s amazing how they all react to each other. The film needs to be replaced but it was great. Not a very popular attraction or so it seemed. The theatre was only a quarter full.

Columbia Harbor House: This is located in Liberty Square and we stopped her as one of our counter service options. The food was very good and we plan to make this a regular stop.

Share a dream come True parade: This was a wonderful parade with all the characters in the snow globes. The only thing I don’t like is that Main st becomes very crowded on the sidewalks. Ugghhh … it’s a nightmare trying to get through.
We had a busy day and did take a mid day break at POP before returning for more. you hear alot about taking mid day breaks but they are so nice. The parks can be so exhausting and trying. It is so nice to hop on a bus and that takes you straight back to your room. After a quick nap and snack from the food court we jumped back on the bus to the MK. I have to say the Bus service was ok. Some look at it as part of the Magic but they are over crowded and to me dangerous. Some nights I really do feel as if they try to see how many people they can fit on the bus. I don't mind standing up but the way they try to fit so many people on the bus can't be considered safe and something should be done. But anyway now that I have ranted a little bit ... :rolleyes2 To end the day we got a perfect spot in front of the castle for wishes. It was about 20 feet in front of the Walt / Mickey Statue. She knew nothing about WDW but I did from reading on DIS and seeing pics. I heard about wished but didn't know exactly what to expect. As it started it took our breath away. This had to be the best fireworks show I had ever seen and she felt the same way. It was magnificent the way the music coordinated with the fireworks and the classic Disney music just brought tears to my eyes once more for the second time in a day. At this point is when the Disney Magic truly hit me. There was Cinderella’s castle right in front of me. The castle that I had seen growing up, the castle that I had only seen in cartoons, the same castle that I had seen in pictures and so many commercials was right there in front of me. WOW. I was really here. Some one pinch me, is this real? This was what Disney Magic felt like and I was loving it.

I'm glad you are sharing your Honeymoon Trip report with us. I'm at work and I couldn't see the pictures on my screen, they were really large. If I had my sons laptop wide screen, I would be able to see them, he has a wide screen. I think there is a way to make your pictures smaller. I always call on the tech team to help me. I have no clue how to do it.

Ok I am crying my eyes out already!!! What a beautiful couple you two are! Can't wait to read more!
