Don't you love the names for different sushi concoctions they make? Like Hairy Caterpillars and such?
Yeah...the whole name thing scares me. Like who wants to eat hairy caterpillars?!

Finally settled on our trip for this year. We will be going from the Wednesday after Christmas until the Monday after New Years. Tried for a couple value studios at Jambo, but they were all booked up, so we ended up with two standard studios in Kidani! Now I just have to count the days so I can start the countdown!!!

Now THAT is the best pinewood derby car EVER.
Clever title you have there.....I imagine sushi is fast food since it doesn't need to be cooked.
Thanks Marvin. It's really an exercise to get kids and dads to work together and spend time together and come away with something they can all be proud of. Everyone wins, but it doesn't always feel that way at trophy-time.
That's awesome! It'd be great to go over New Year's. Keep us posted.
Yeah, that is the point I tried to make with my boys. I wanted them to have the experience of building their own car and competing with it. Unfortunately, there are too many Dad's who think it is a parent competition instead of an opportunity to spend time and teach/work with their sons. At that age, though, it is hard to teach a life lesson to the boys when they aren't standing there getting rewarded for their effort.

Thinking about a PTR to help me pass the time, but after this new standard you have set, the bar may be set too high. Not sure I could lure away any of the glennbo groupies long enough to have any readership.

Exactly. Used to make me so angry when I saw some of the cars.
Yippee. Now that our trip is scheduled, I got to count the number of days until we leave. OMG, it is 296 days we have to wait to head "home" again to Kidani!
I think I'm gonna have to join a support group to help me get through........

I just realized that today we hit double-digits in our countdown to the "most expense free trip ever"!
Who's with me?

darn it you hit double digits that must mean i have sailed past my double digits.

the speed tricks they use is hollow out the inside of the car on the front end and load it with ball bearings or something heavy, but that would be cheating and cheating is wrong in church competition it is really wrong.![]()
You caught that, did ya'........I think you just described the people who cruise the PTR forum.![]()
im talking about if you would hallow out the bottom of the car in the front and the back, and hav about 70% of the car weight in the front and the otehr 30% in the back you should get more speed on the hill and carry it through on the straight away.Yup. You must have.
I didn't see anything in the rules about that, so it wouldn't be cheating!
Wait, are you talking about placement or just plain old overloading the weight? They do have to be 5 oz. or less. That is in the rules!
Hey Glenn! Late congrats on the double digits
It's so hard when one kid wins an award and the other doesn't. I bet it probably meant more to James, too. I love Marlene's sushi car idea. We did a pinewood derby (although being for girl scouts, they called it a "powderpuff derby") a couple years ago. Scott had a lot of fun building the car with Jenna - but both of us were amazed at the complexity of some of the cars at the competition. It was obvious that the parents had done most or all of the work for some of them. I'm not sure what lesson those kids would take away from it - but I'm sure its not what the Girl Scout organization has intended.

just have to make sure it is not too heavy i the front do drag it down after the hill.
Okay, weight distribution. All I know is, it sounds to me like Parker better clear some shelf space for some trophies.
