The Moms Panel take on the Yeti, an EE5K TR ~*~ Completed ~*~

One step at a time.. us Fockers can only take baby steps:lmao:
I know, hey at least we remembered to take a photo that's an improvement :rotfl2:

I had so much fun hanging out with my Fockers! It was especially nice to talk to you and Em since I hadn't met you in person before. :goodvibes It only took a couple of years! ;)
I loved meeting you too Dawn

Hello Jo! Looks like I found your trip report. :) I didn't realize you ran into Whitney at the airport! I ran into Margaret on the way home. Small world for Disney Moms!

My favorite line so far is:

"I was so chuffed but knew my daughters would be gutted."

Love it! Can't wait to read more. It's hard to believe we've been back almost a month already.
Did I not tell you about me stalking Whitney? :rotfl2: And at least you knew what that sentance meant as I had to tell you all what chuffed meant recently :rotfl:

I'm so excited for another of your reports!!! :woohoo:

Denise
Thanks for reading Denise :goodvibes

Yes, that would be quite helpful!:lmao:
I'll try ;):rotfl2:

I know, I know, I need to update, the kids are on school holiday next week so hopefully I'll get some time to do it :thumbsup2

Wait a minute Jo !!! I knew what 'chuffed "meant !! Oh that's right I'm English too:rotfl2:

And they should also be saying "Jolly Good Old Chap":rotfl2: Or"Don't get your nickers in a knot ":rotfl2:
Well I'm off to earn an Oxford scholar!!!!!!:rotfl2:

And at least you knew what that sentance meant as I had to tell you all what chuffed meant recently :rotfl:

That has been one of the highlights of our year...spending it with Jo whilst learning her culture. She is definitely my favourite Brit! :)

popcorn:: Update update update......................
Coming up :thumbsup2

So whilst I was dining with DIS friends some of my fellow Moms panellists were visiting Give Kids The World which, incase you didn't know, is a fabulous place close to WDW where very ill children and their families get to have a magical vacation. Moms panellist Anna had been so moved by the great work done at GKTW that she had arranged a collection between the 2009 panel and some of the 2008 panel and between us we amazingly raised $1,550. GKTW offered us a tour so we could present the cheque and apparently it is an awesome place, all the Moms loved seeing the great facilities there albeit whilst holding back the tears. Here are a few photos of their trip and for more details you can read Anna's blog HERE

Our schedule had us meeting in the AKL lobby at midday ready to be picked up for a personal tour of the Wide World of Sports. This would be the first time since December that we'd all be back together, well except Amber who would meet us later at the party. Margaret had befriended people at Garrett's Popcorn and they had given her 2 huge tins for us all to share. I'd never had it before and OMG the caramel popcorn is to die for, it's so buttery and moreish and I'm sure has no calories whatsoever :rolleyes1

Soon our 2 minibuses arrived and we all piled in for the short journey to the WWS, we were met by our guide who firstly told us that it was being rebranded to include ESPN and then took us on a tour. I was completely amazed at how huge the complex was, there were baseball fields, soccer/football areas, a huge basketball hall and we only touched the surface, it really is an outstanding facility. Also whilst we were there there was a huge CM sale going on, I think it was all old stock but people were coming out with ginormous bags full to the brim. You should have seen some of the Moms dying to get in there, unfortunately we're not classed as employees so we couldn't  It was fun to see though!

We were then led backstage to a meeting room where we all had a little gift, it was an ESPN digital photo frame which was so generous of them. My sister straight away said I should give it to her as it wouldn't work in the UK because of the voltage but I brought it home anyway :lmao: We then had a presentation all about the plans before heading to lunch!

Lunch was your typical ballgame food, well so I was told as I've never been to one, there were chicken tenders, wings, pulled pork sandwiches, fries etc. I gingerly tasted the sauce on the wings and OMG they were hot, I'm so glad I didn't just bite straight into it. Whitney and her husband couldn't believe I'd never had hot wings before and were also amazed I didn't put ice in my drink, I know silly Brit huh :rotfl:

I think I'm saying here, ooooh look what I got!!!

It was soon time to leave again, today was quite a rush, we had to pick up our Expedition Everest 5K packet from the front of WWS which contained our bib numbers, special T-Shirt, water holder etc before we all jumped back on to the minibuses for our trip home. On the way back the Black Eyed Peas came on the radio singing I've Got A Feeling and quite a few of us started singing, we claimed it as our theme tune for the weekend and it was amazing how often it was played after that giving us all a chance to get our groove on :rotfl:

Wonderful update, thank you! I too would have been freaking out over the CM sale - and probably would have tried to sneak in... :rolleyes1

So sad my dad was working that day! He would have loved to have seen you again!
I did look for him but I'm sure lots of the CM's looked the same :rotfl2:

Wonderful update, thank you! I too would have been freaking out over the CM sale - and probably would have tried to sneak in... :rolleyes1
Well some of the Moms did try and leap the barrier :rotfl2:

Great update, Jo! :thumbsup2 But did you realize that there were two types of wings - hot and mild? I bet you would have enjoyed the mild! And yes, the frame was beautiful! I have mine on my work desk.

As far as Garrett Popcorn, if anyone is interested, they gave us a coupon code for free shipping...they said it would be OK to share so for popcorn lovers: use GPSMOMS2009 - it's good through October 31st! And as Jo said, no calories! :rotfl:

I can't wait to hear how you try and explain the next part...go easy on me! LOL

I've never been to WWS but I think that's where the big cheer competitions are held, so maybe some day!

What's with the "no ice" thing?? Cause I'll go nuts in Europe with Iced Tea and no ice! :scared1: (should I pack my own??)

Yum--good southern food---can't wait to tell Ab you hadn't had wings---do they not have them?? How do the chickens fly?? :lmao:

Oh yeah--I saw you all on You tube--kinda scary.... :lmao:;)

:thumbsup2 Great update.

I lived with 3 English girls in college; they were from Wales, Liverpool, and the third town escapes me but I NEVER understood the no ice thing. ;) I did enjoy mushy peas and chips though. :cloud9: And Gold Bars- those vanillay candy bars. :lovestruc Oooooo and HP sauce and fried eggs with tomatoes.

Never had a hot wing? :faint:

I love that you raised money for GKTW! I was a wish-child in 1996 and stayed at the village for a week and was able to visit WDW, it started my obsession! We will be heading back to GKTW in December, they are throwing our wedding for us! Love it!!!
