Just wanted to let all you good folks know that I've had to give up my position as moderator on these boards. I've been a member and moderator on these boards for 7 years and it's been a huge part of my life ( I even met my wife on these boards), I think we were the first DISSERs to form a relationship that ended in a marriage, even if circumstances meant it took us a lot longer to get married than some others.

Following my move to Orlando I started work at Disney in March. It's no coincidence that I've been almost invisible on the boards since then. Working for Disney makes it very difficult to be active on the boards as it can be harmful to one's career.
I spoke to Pete in March/April about this and it was following his advice that resulted in my reduction in posts. The current changes in this site mean it is no longer possible to maintain a "wait and see" policy to what happens to my career, which looks likely to continue at WDW for (hopefully) quite some time. A decision had to be made as to my ability to input into the site and while I'm working for Disney it is impossible for me to have an active role in the DIS. IT would either compromise my ability to do the job on the DIS properly or it would compromise my future with the company.

I will continue to read the boards and I hope anyone who "knows" me and would like to meet up when they are over here either for a beer, coke or a game of golf would feel comfortable in dropping me an email or IM (emails are a lot better) to try and organize a time.

I've very much enjoyed my years here and the people I've had the chance to meet, both in "cyberspace" and face to face (either here in Orlando or at one of the UK DIS meets).

I would very much appreciate if one of the moderators could post a link to this post on the moderators board as my "mod privilages" have been terminated before I had the chance to say goodbye to that bird.

See Ya around guys.

Vernon,

Thanks for all your efforts over the years as a Moderator. Hope your new life and career go well over in (mostly) sunny Florida :)

Sorry to see you leave Vernon but would like to thank you for your help and advice over the years and to wish you all the very best with your future at Disney

Thank you for all your help and advice Vernon, and all the best with your Disney career!! :goodvibes

Vernon, just wanted to say thankyou for all your help and advice that you have given us over the past few years, and i hope you have a long and happy career with disney,
wishing you all the best :flower:

I`m more a lurker than a poster and I certainly appreciate your work over the years. Enjoy your career with Disney - all the best!

good luck with your career with Mickey....
i can honestly say i'm very jealous....every time i get a notice from the placement office of where i went to school of a position open in WDW, i have to really control myself not to send off my resume....

maybe when we retire, i'll be able to convince DH to move to orlando and join the ranks of the happy retirees working for the mouse....

Many thanks for all your help and advice, Vernon, and good luck with your Disney career.

All the best Vernon ~ Hope everything goes well.

vernon you will be much missed on the boards, good luck and very best wishes in your career at disney.

Sad to hear that you won't be posting here, Vernon - truly the end of an era - but very pleased to hear that you're working at the Happiest Place on Earth! I'd love to hear more about it, but I guess you can't post that here.

I'll be at WDW in January with Matt, my brother and s-i-l and my 21 year old daughter and her boyfriend, so I'll drop you an email nearer the time and maybe we can meet up. It would be great to see you again and to meet Jana.

All the best, buddy. :flower:

Vernon, I still remember the friendly welcome you gave me when I made my first tentative post on the DIS (a few years ago now!). I think it came as such a pleasant surprise after seeing the less-than-friendly side of some other message boards 'out there', that it was largely responsible for getting me hooked on these boards.

Best wishes for a wonderful future in Florida :)
