The Merc with a Mouth is Coming to DCA. Deadpool is arriving this Friday at the Avengers Campus

You're lucky I like you, Brian, because you have some really terrible opinions on things.
I will give Brian a pass in that I found the X-Men movies to be pretty lame (Phoenix was always my favorite and I think they really fell short with her character). But as someone who grew up watching the TV series and reading the comics as a kid, I am also slightly offended. 😆

Oh, so did I. But have you read them lately? 😬

No, I haven't, but I get the feeling from your comment that I probably wouldn't like it. Now I'm curious...

I have just been so burnt by that stuff. It's like, I grew up watching The Cosby Show, and I loved that show and it's very funny. But, you know, I can't really watch it today because of the things he did. I don't like the X-Men anymore because of the things they did - I find I have no affinity for them, even if it's '97 or whatever. I just don't care about it.

Honestly, after sixty years of comic books there has been far more bad than good - only select pockets are any good at all (though some very good indeed). I'm just not a fan. I was always more of an Avengers guy anyway - not that their comics have been good in a while either, but there's a difference in just some bad comics and what they did with the X-Men.

For those with kids: Deadpool appears in the Ultimate Spider-Man (2013) animated series that was on DisneyXD with an TV-Y7 rating. That might be a more reasonable introduction. I imagine the humor presented by Deadpool in the parks will be more align with the animated series.

Arguing about character representation in rated-R movies vs comics...is kinda a wash. As someone alluded to Marvel and DC had to change in around the 80s. Adapt or die, so they introduced more adult themes and characters to great survive. Times change and there are a few problematic issues and storylines from the 80s and onwards from the comics of the past that if brought to a film adaption might lead to an R rating.

This is another case of adapt or die. When they see how successful shows like GoT and The Boys are, while many of their latest movies aren't successful...adapt or die.

I disagree about comics in the 80's having to "adapt or die." The adoption of more mature comics also coincided with the direct market, AKA the local comic book shop. At first this was great because it expanded the market, creating room for those more mature comics like The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen, but also keeping the standard superhero stuff pretty friendly. The problem is that as time went on, they leaned more and more toward that type of material, to the detriment of everything else. Exclusive distribution deals squeezed out the newsstand and comics entered a cycle of becomming more and more expensive and only appealing to an older and older fanbase. The industry has been in decline for more than 30 years now and at death's door more than once. Now they skate by, and the giang conglomerates that own the publishers only care if they can make a movie using the IP. Comics have languished, appealing to a smaller, and more niche audience than ever before. Essentialy, they adapted AND they died.

They have had multiple versions of Loki, multiple versions of Moon Knight, Taskmaster, the Eternals, Kate Bishop, Agatha, America Chavez, Death Dealer, Shang Chi, O.B. from the TVA, Werewolf by Night, and Kang all at Avengers Campus. None of those are Avengers or at least not yet. People find these all fun so what's the harm?
Yes and thank goodness…most of the were only there a short time to promote whatever series they were doing at the time, I.e, America Chavez was only in Dr. Strange’s show for a brief time when Multiverse came out, then back to Thor who played much better in the presentation. I saw her walking around the campus and literally no one knew who she was, just thought she was a random teen walking around. Well..we know Kang won’t be back :rotfl2:

A great idea, though, would be to have a special After Dark Marvel night again and I wouldn’t care how many random obscure characters they want to parade then….cmon Disney, make it happen in 2025!

I just want Halloween themed Cartoons during the reason

WereWolf at Night, Elsa Blood Stone, Blade, Moon Knight, Scarlet Witch and Zombie Captain America

I saw the Paris show its cute but.....god do I dislike that western guests can never have nice things because the US is being scared the guests could do something to get them sued

Watch show live

This is not a kids show its PG but the jokes are for adults. They made a joke about Splash Mountain....insane

I think they could work this into a full time show if they made it longer and a bigger area for people to watch

Deadpool is like Genie so the show can seen way more then one time. The Jokes Change and he reacts to the crowd
