The Melting Pot

Good to know. I was not aware that the meat is raw. But I am perfectly fine with that and cooking the food.

I love Melting Pot too! I go there quite often with my girlfriends, and I brought my daughters there once. After trying the Big Night Out I have decided that I will only go there for cheese, chocolate, drinks and salads from now on. They do those VERY well, and they are delicious, and more than filling for a meal.

I'm another one who couldn't stomach the sight of raw meat. I'm a vegetarian, and I cooked my veggies in broth while my carnivore friends cooked their meat in oil, but it was enough to make me feel icky. They complained that it was hard to know when the meat was done.

But the cheese is unbelievable, and the chocolate is to die for! I was making inappropriate noises with that chocolate fondue. The drinks are incredible too. You will have a wonderful time! Our MP is very upscale and the service is fantastic. Have fun!

It is SO GOOD. We're trying to convince my brother that that is actually where he wants to go for his birthday dinner (his b-day is in 2 days), but so far he's not budging. Hmph.

Make sure you ask for a table with two burners. For a party of four you can then have two different pots to cook in. For example the nacho cheese and the spinach artichoke for the apps and then the hot oil and the broth for cooking. At our MP when they run out of double burner tables they seat parties of four at the single burner tables. Then everyone has to use the same dip/cooking sauce.

Yes! I love it!

I usually go for just dessert, but dinner is great too! My dbf and I love to go there on date nights....

We got every year for New Year's Eve. We have a blast. They do it up right at midnight with hats, noisemakers, etc. We really enjoy the food. They send you home with a bag of goodies that includes their garlic and wine seasoning. We use it on everything at home. You'll have a great time!

We don't go for the special events, b/c they make you get the full meal. But when we go, we get the cheddar fondue with the beer (mmmm), maybe a salad to share covertly, and then the dessert chocolate fondue (with extra fruit and no marshmallow). So good! And nowhere near as expensive as if you have the entree.

For those of you who don't want to cook your food, do NOT go to a traditional Korean restaurant! Or if you do, don't order meat.

I've always wanted to try that place.

Me too! DH and I keep talking about going there (there is one in Grand Rapids, about an hour and a half away from us) for a birthday or anniversary but we just haven't gone yet. I did look over their menu and saw that it's pretty pricey, but I like the idea of skipping the meat part and just doing the cheese, salad, drinks and dessert. That would be great, I think!

The Melting Pot sounds sooo awesome, but I'm a vegetarian and I have to wonder if it's worth it? There are some great suggestions about just getting the cheese and chocolate (oh WOW...!!) but there is a vegetable selection. Anyone have it? Any good?

It is soo woth it even if you just went for the cheese or the desserts.

BUT I LOOVE it:laughing:
I had an awesome time and the two bottles of wine weren't so bad either:rotfl:
It is expensive but it isn't something you do everyday.

So we made resservations for this place for New year's Eve. It's pricey, but I'vealways wanted to try it. I've heard some good things and wanted to know if anyone here has ever been there. It's a fixed menu for the evening. I SO rarely get to go out to anyplace fancy-pants, so I am really stoked! Get to dress nice and everything!

Which Melting Pot are you going to? One in Charlotte? A friend of mine works at the one near Queens.

Charlotte. The one on/near University.

She works at the other one and is schedule to work that night. I was going to suggest you request her as a server because she is really good. Oh well.

Have a great time!

That is the one that we go to.
DH went with me to the Melting Pot once, and he will not go back. He says it is a woman's place. I love it! Now I go with DDs and friends. I love the bread/cheese and the desserts!!!!!!!!! The desserts are defintely the best part of the whole meal!!!!!!!

Wouldn't the one in Durham be closer? It's right across from Southpoint Mall, exit 276 off of I-40. It's only about 2 or 3 years old and really nice. My Mom's group goes a lot for Mom's Night Out on Thursdays (usually cheese, chocolate and salad for $19). My DH doesnt care for it so I go without him.

Noooooooooo...not by a long shot. I am 45 minutes from Charlotte. Durham is over an hour and a half from me. I live west of Winston-Salem.

When you mentioned Greensboro I thought that you lived there - in which case Durham would probably be easier. But not if you live west of Winston.

Wait a minute - are you the one that lives in Davidson County? I am from Lexington and I think we were about 45 minutes from Charlotte.

Greensboro would have been the closest...but only by one mile. The Charlotte location is literally one mile further away. Fascinating, aye?

I am not in Davidson County.
