~ The Man Report ~ ~ Lack-O-Booze & Garlic Fumes ~
After MK and swimming, we head back to the room. Ive now gone a record sixteen hours without any type of alcoholic beverage to sustain me. Its a record.
My last taste of the precious, sweet liquor was the gulping down of what remained in my Whiskey glass after the Secret Carb Fest from the evening before.
Its 4pm on Day #2. MB is in his jammies thinking that once he puts them on, theres no way well make him leave the room to go anywhere. Oh, how hes sadly mistaken.
By 4:30 Im Jonesin for some booze, any booze, and decide we need to get ready for our big dinner.
LtP pries MB from his P.J.s and gets him into his favorite Stripey-shirt. I change into my best Cruise-wear, and LG puts on her newly purchased, white Minnie shirt w/ white shorts. Shes very fashionable.
Everyone except me puts on their
Crocs.

Geeks!
As blue so aptly pointed out in her superb Hollywood video production, were geekin
geekin hard!
Tonight is one of my absolute
Favorite places to eat anywhere in the World
Portabella Yacht Club or (PYC).
For whatever reason, Im in a REALLY good mood this evening. I cant explain it. Maybe its just the wonderful day we had at MK. Maybe relaxation is finally setting in. More than likely though, its that Im sober and able to enjoy my surroundings with a lot more appreciation.
Ill soon fix that!!
We arrive to an empty restaurant. Perfect. The four hostesses greet us with unbridled enthusiasm and have no problem with my request to seat us outside, under the canopy & along the lake.
I just love this spot. Its probably why I love the restaurant. Early on, this place is empty. As a matter of fact, if you have a free day with no ADRs, this place is an easy walk-in prior to 6:30 pm.
As they prepare our table, I wander around the lobby and take a few pictures. This is a beautiful restaurant that deserves its due.
Alone on the patio, shaded by the balcony, I sigh deeply and peruse the wine menu. Hmmm

:
After much debate (with myself), I decide on the Chianti Classico, Reserve. LtP doesnt care what I order as long as its red and served quickly. Well power down this first bottle like its chocolate milk. The constant needs of my vacationing children have this effect on me. Wine is the only cure.
The 4 year old bottle is served in short order by a wine steward, followed by the bread guy who also serves as a water guy. Unlike next door from the previous evening (Fultons), PYC doesnt see the need to have one entire person devoted to the delivery of bread. Its a Disney-run restaurant so you expect to see efficiencies like this.
I taste the wine, sniff the cork, and deem the liquid acceptable and ready to be imbibed.
17 minutes later, I order the second bottle.
Last March, while on vacation at WDW and dining at this exact location, LtP made the unwise selection of pasta w/ sausage and cheese (
Rigatoni Calabrese - rigatoni pasta with Italian sausage, cremini mushrooms, plum tomatoes, black olives and escarole $19.95). Epcot, the following day, was marred by clenched bowels & constant trips to the restroom facilities at 15 minute intervals which in turn ruined an otherwise lovely day in the parks.
This time, LtP is backed up like the Soviets at Stalingrad. Smarter than 8 months prior, and abstaining from carbohydrates, she wisely chooses the Rib Eye steak (
Ribeye Steak - grilled with portobello mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic, extra virgin olive oil and seasonal vegetables $35.95).
Pickled from rapid-firing wine shooters, I forget to take pictures of the food. I believe this is the one and only time I fail you fine people. I promise it wont happen again.
Im hankerin for fish on this trip so Red Snapper is what Buzz orders (
Snapper - grilled filet of lane snapper with fried baby artichokes, garlic, lemon and white wine sauce $28.95).
Its all extremely delicious with excellent presentation. The views from our dining location are also superb. As we enjoy the remnants of our second bottle and burp up legendary garlic fumes, we revel in the quiet of the patio with the views of our home DVC resort, Saratoga Springs.
The kids wander around the patio, playing with one another as couples stroll by, headed to Pleasure Island and the soon-to-be-starting evening festivities.
The perfect end to our second day.
Up Next: My Issues w/ the Cheese Factory Remain Unresolved.
Terrified of Grimace, we opt for a photo with the Hamburgler. This was on our way to PYC in DTD.
Chasing squirrels is great fun.
Like father, like daughter.
A great place to eat. PYC receives my Man-Report Seal of Approval
