I use Clinique High Definition mascara and right now I use L'Oreal kohl pencils. Next time I'm at the mall, I'm thinking of getting MAC Powerpoint. I don't put mascara on my bottom lid, though. I never used a makeup primer but that sounds like it would help.

My money is the smudging is on the eyeliner - you're right. I've used that mascara before, with no issues.

I'd find a better liner. Someone mentioned Urban Decay, earlier. I am using TiGi's & Medusa (side note: Has anyone else used Medusa brand? It's flipping hot!!! http://www.medusasmakeup.com/ )

But I'd still use a makeup primer/base on your lower eyes.

Just bought and used the Monistat gel yesterday. WOW! My make-up looked great hours later and it helped my pores look smaller. Now I have to go back and read this whole thread, I bet there are tons more great tips. Monistat on my face! Never, ever would have guessed that one.

:thumbsup2

On a side note, been spending a lot of time in the pool and my hair is suffering. Frizzy. Dry. Help. Please.

What's your usual hair stuff?

I love that stuff. We just came back from a vacation at the beach in South Florida and at the end of a day in the hot sun and wind, my makeup still looked fresh (yes, I wear makeup at the beach). The trick is to spray it on liberally until your entire face feels moist.

Totally. :thumbsup2

Thanks! That's what I bought :thumbsup2

I love this thread !!!:cheer2:

HANDY TIP FOR NEWBIE MONISTAT USERS!!!!

I thought it shoudl be mentioned, because I even made the mistake when I first began using it....

Most other makeup primers "dry" pretty quickly, and you can apply makeup over them, right after appliation of it.

Monistat is a bit different. You ~really~ need to wait for it to dry to the powdery finish, which takes a few minutes. It will still work, if you don't, however your makeup doesn't glide on as easy, and I found it didn't hold up as well.

I put mine on my face, right out the shower - I dry off, get dressed, put it on... then I head to my room, put all my hair products in, comb my hair out, go fill my coffee cup then sit down to apply my makeup. By this time, it's a powdery feel. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip. :thumbsup2 Putting my order in from Amazon. :)

So Monistat goes on after moisturizer but before foundation right?

I don't like Medusa because they're notorious repackagers. There's no special formula to their shadows, they're just repackaged micas from a wholesale company.

CathrynRose:

I FINALLY went and got a Moroccan Oil deep treatment done, that you have been raving about. And my hair is fabulous now. :woohoo:

I had a Groupon for a haircut & a Moroccan Oil treatment - the stuff in the blue tub. I saw it so I know it was the real thing. I had another haircut Groupon expiring first & had to use that one up before I could finally cash in on this Groupon.

I'm thinking of getting one of the bottles. Any tips for how & when to put that stuff on. Do I still use conditioner, or do I put it on in place of a conditioner?

:goodvibes Very excited: I purchased a Biolage hair balm today, (I'm a sucker for anything biolage--smells so good :lovestruc). So tonight I have a date with the hair balm and a bath bomb (and maybe a pedi too?) Lifeissogood!

Has anyone tried the new Nexus product for split ends? I'd love to know if it works.

I tried the shampoo, conditioner and leave-in treatment. It does not work! :sad2:
I have not seen any noticeable difference. Ugh!

I am new to this thread.
I admit I have been using Wen and love it...but after reading thru some of the posts (I did a search on Wen and pulled up a few on co-washing in this thread)...I am thinking there is a better CHEAPER alternative. To those who do this what are you using to co-wash? Do you do it similar to the way you wash with Wen.

Thanks!

Here is a list of the drugstore brand silicone-free conditioners (as well as lists for natural health food stores & mid-high end):

I found out my regular conditioner I've been using is on the list. Going to try co-washing out tonight. :thumbsup2

I found Monistat itch relief cream. It says soothing care on the side and the box looks exactly the same. It doesn't say chafing powder gel. Is it the same thing ?

And this anti silicone thing baffles me (as does the sulfate hate)....

I use silicone conditoners, and it still works just as good. Don't be afraid of cones.... ;)

No, no.... check that link posted (or page 1 of this thread has a link). My place I always find it, is CVS.

My skin hates primers, but, I think I'm gonna give the monistat a try. Is this a ok choice for dry, sensitive skin? And how does mineral makeup ( EDM) wear over it?

Hi Color Experts,

I was able to hit a Cosmetics Company Outlet store this weekend in New Jersey and they had parts of the MAC Villainous Villains Collection.

I bought the Briar Rose Beauty Powder (a bluish pink type of blush) and was wondering what eyeshadow colors would complement it. I was thinking along the lines of a neutral like MAC Shroom but was curious to see what others would choose.

Thanks!!

Lisa :)

just found this thread :)

-i also use the monastat for primer, it really does work great
- favorite mascara is MAC opulash i use it with the white primer from the loreal tubes mascara (red one) this combo will last 2 days and still look great
-have been using rapidlash found it at ulta, ordered it for half the price on overstock. I had an unfortunate incident with some fake eyelashes and most of my uppers came out, it really did make them grow in faster and thicker and less fall out when I was mascara off, also made my bottom lashes grow.

I use EDM, and it works great. I actually do NOT moisturize (in the Summer) before applying, but do so in the Winter. Only you know your skin, but it sounds like you should Moisture --> Monistat --> Makeup.

Shroom sounds like it would be perfect! What about MAC Vanilla Pigment? And maybe a Taupe in your crease?

Which Sebastian products do you recommend? Any...all?

I love all Sebastian. Love Love Love!!!

I saw someone in another thread talking about urban decay setting spray, but on the Sephora website I see there are 3 different types. Which type does everyone use?

All Nighter.

just found this thread :)

Tried the monistat primer..is it supposed to feel oily? I thought it dried. I put it under my eyes and waited a good 10 minutes before applying makeup. Within a few hours all my eye makeup was very smudged, as usual. I can't ever seem to keep my eyeliner on my eyelids!

Have you tried Urban Decay Primer Potion under it and then setting it with a powder shadow over it?
