I KNOW this is stupid and flawed thinking but that has been my experience. I know to pay more is not smarter but I still do it! The funny thing is if I see a product in Walgreens or CVS for 25.00 I will not buy it I think it is expensive yet if I go to ULTA or Sephora I think wow this is only 25.00 and would buy two of them!
Anyone else do this ?
Having issues quoting on my phone....hence my red text....

YES! I have a huge ~issue~ with spending what I consider a lot, on drug store items. I even get a little "who do they think they are????" attitude about the whole thing. Just last week, I saw this Loreal HIP eyeshadow duo. Real cute shades, a gold and a brown. I was gonna get it and it was $9. What??? This is Loreal! I stuffed it back in the rack, angry. LOL!

Have you ever tried those blow drier brushes? I truly hate my hair, unless I use mine. It just smooths so so well.

I love it. Love love love it! I just can't say enough good things about it. I've been using it since I was like 22. That's almost 16 years of loyalty. As mentioned, I think I made a mistake turning my back on it, for awhile.

I had a moment of weakness, and after a few drinks at Navy Pier, had hair tinsel put in. I freaking LOVE IT! I cannot stand feather extensions, but the subtle sparkle of the tinsel, is so cool. I ended up ordering some to put in myself.I'm excited to get them.

And I picked up some Neutrogena Rain Bath shower gel. I had forgotten how nice this stuff is. And the smell? I was whisked back to HS. Not sure if that is good or bad. In any case, my skin is so soft and yummy. :)

I absolutely refuse to buy drugstore brands because their prices are ridiculous now. I can get MAC for the same price or cheaper with my Pro card.

My hair is just thin, not thinning. I don't know that aa shampoo can change something that's developed on the inside, kwim? My mom had thinning hair, she tried a lot of things, and nothing she found ever really impressed her.

My advice would be an amazing multivitamin, and focusing on faking it. Root lifter, clarifying shampoos and smoothers. I really like using TIGI queen for a day thickening spray AS a root lifter. Good stuff.

Nioxin ~ never liked it BUT its because that menthol scalp feeling?? OMG! Its what my panic attacks start like, so it freaks me out, and makes me panic. Lol! Can't use it. Hahaha!

I used to use Nioxan it is supposed to help but I never really saw a difference. There was an article on AOL yesterday and it gave the foods you should eat to promote good hair growth. Some of them were white meat chicken, chick peas, strawberries, green veggies and there were two more but I cannot remember what they were.

Hi cinmell

I agree with what CathrynRose stated.

I too have had a problem with thinning hair. My hair has been thinning for the past 3 to 4 yrs. Every time I wash my hair, comb my hair, or even run my fingers through my hair I would have a lot of hair fall out. This pass year I really started to get scared due to my loss/thinnning hair. It started to become really noticeable. My hair use to be long and thick. It became very very thin and stringy.

I started taking a multivitamin daily, Oscal, and Vit D ( I don't get enough sun;)

My hair use to be really long. About 6 inches and I had it cut into a short bob.

After 3 months I did notice my hair loss had decreased drastically. I still get about 3 to 5 strands but I think that's normal. I use to get big clumps!:scared1: And I know this because every time I'd wash my hair I would roll the hair left on my hands around my fingers and place it by my shampoo bottle. Kind of my way to gauge the hair loss. :lmao: (don't judge me ) By the end of the week I had enough hair to braid! :scared:

Now I get barely any hair.

If you're not all ready taking a multivitamin maybe you should try it. I don't know if it would help you but it wouldn't hurt to try. :)

Also I've heard fish oil helps.

Other then that keeping your hair short will eliminate the weight in your hair and root lifters work wonders! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the suggestions! I do take a vitamin, but not everyday like I should. I just take it when I think of it. I'll have to get better at that! I'll have to check out some root lifters. I've never heard of them before but I'll give them a try. :)

Exactly I think the same thing. What right to they have charging 31 bucks for something. It is like they are wanna be-s (I did not know how to punctuate be's) Also I am wondering what the red will look like when I bolded it.

When you say you use the blow drier brush what brand do you use. I saw one at Walgreens and it was Conair and once again I turned my nose up at it. JUST because it was Conair. :scared1:

IF you live near Lord and Lady you can get a card from them and then all your purchases are 20% off for the whole year. I think the card is like 15 but they just take it off your purchase. I got the Redkin Root Lifter there.

Well, this is one I won't turn my nose up at. My hair is just BETTER, when I blow try with it. Fuller, smoother, shinier and better. :thumbsup2 It's either a Conair, or a Revlon or something. No clue. I just look for a big barrelled, bristle brush with high heat.

ETA ~ you know, I discovered it YEARRRRS ago, when my blow dryer broke and was shooting out cold air. I still lived with my Mom. I could NOT find her blow dryer to save my life. And then I came across this completely 1970's looking rust-orange and cream colored Vidal Sassoon "blow dryer" brush. What else could I do???

I am SOOOO GLADDDD I found it. So glad. It elimated the step of round brushing, and blow drying. It was all one step. I freaking love those things.

YES
And I do!

Me too!

What's Lord & Lady?

And I (as mentioned) like TiGi's Queen for a Day thickener, used at my roots and Sexy Hair Root Lifter.

Be sure to concentrate it on your roots. Section it and spray and roots, section and spray, section and spray....then kinda rub your finger tips, into your scalp to distribute it amongst your scalp.

And then.... use a blow dryer brush **looking over at Bella :rolleyes1 ** and I prefer to blow dry with it. And kinda lift my roots up.

OMG you do need us over here! LOL! It is supposed to clean your skin. It is a brush that circulates and cleans your skin as well as exfoliates it. This could help with your pores too.

I bet it would. Pull that thing out!

I am usually a lurker but had to ask a question. Does the olay product similiar to the clarisonic work as well?:confused3 The price was pretty steep but my pores aren't great either:lmao:

I bought that thingy for my pores, or rather sebaceous follicles. It was OK, I only used it for a couple of months, now I don't use it at all. I've found that a cheapy, rough washcloth works much better for me (I use an Eeyore Magic Towel! lol). I use it twice a day and have seen a huge difference. I also use Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask once a week or so to help dry out my pores.

cinmell lives in MA it is a hair chain that has beauty products and sometimes if you buy the large size you get a good deal. Right now they have a deal where you pay for a vip card and you get 20% off the rest of the year. The thing is what they do is basically take 20% off your first order but you do not see the savings it pays for the card. So really you are not paying anymore than you would have for your order. Then the rest of the time it is 20% and really it did not cost to get the benefit. Or at least that is what they did for me.

OKAY so I am going to give the Conair a second look. I had one of these years ago but I could not work it well. Perhaps I have matured....lol!

Works for me! It is gentle and frankly I don't know what the Clairasonic is like but I would not want anymore power than the Olay.

:goodvibes Very excited: I purchased a Biolage hair balm today, (I'm a sucker for anything biolage--smells so good :lovestruc). So tonight I have a date with the hair balm and a bath bomb (and maybe a pedi too?) Lifeissogood!

Has anyone tried the new Nexus product for split ends? I'd love to know if it works.

Hmmm, now I'm thinking I may have to try the blow dryer brush thing. I have to blow dry my hair daily and I use a round brush. It's a pain but if I don't do it then my hair is blah! :sad2:

Tried it a while ago when it first came out and it is not worth it. It also makes you hair like glue which it probably is.

Add me to the list of make up snobs....:rotfl:

I do love Loreal mascara tho and I have a few NYX products. Other then that, I see a lot of drug store make-up with appealing colors but for some reason I am not interested in buying.

When I step into Sephora or Ulta I go crazy wanting everything. :confused3

If I keep reading this thread I may end up a hair care product snob. :lmao:

Oh yea, I'm also a purse snob. :rolleyes1

Okay I am not a purse snob, it just needs to be great leather and well made with good detail. Therefore I really do not like some of the signature bags they are not leather.

I will say though that when I go to Sephora (not so much ULTA it is the Walmart of make up stores IMHO) I feel my heart race and my adrenalin pump. REALLY it is the same kind of high you get when you find a really cute outfit and it actully looks good!
I think CR might remember this story but I must retell it, it was one of the best days of my life. I went to Maggianos for dinner and after went to the ladies room. When I came out my husband and son told me to go look in the room down the hall. My son's gf was there. .....IN THE ROOM WAS TONS AND TONS AND TONS OF MAC make up they had had their quarterly new product roll out and then left. YEP they leave all the make up behind if it has been opened it needs to be dumped. NOT ON MY WATCH. Most of the stuff like brushes etc were not even touched. I could not control myself both myself and sfg went in and filled out pockets. We were on our way to see Les Miserable. I was so high on my pockets full of free MAC that I do not even remember the first act. I had the best seats ever I could see the sweat dripping off the actors but all I could think about was the MAC in my pockets. This happened a good 7 years ago now and I still occasionally relive it and think why didn't i fill up my bra, since I ran out of pocket space, why didn't I make my husband fill in his pockets.....ahhh. Seriously one of the best make times I EVER HAD>Now THAT was a RUSH!

Ladies - I need help!

My skin is so oily lately. I've tried everything! Different kinds of face wash, oil-free makeup...I'm still shiny and oily. What can I do?

RB,

Have you tried going to Sephora and asking the make up artist there? I had the same problem with my nose. I never break out and then I just started breaking out on my nose. I hated it I finally decided to use some antibacterial soap (ONLY on my nose). What can I say it worked. I usually wash my face with Cetephil and backing soda to exfoliate but I have been careful to use something a little stronger on my nose.

Bold/Red = LOOLOLOL!

Of COURSE I remember that story! The 2nd post in this thread is dedicated to you!!!!!

I could listen to it, over and over **sigh**...... :cloud9:

I would so be like you. I need to go back... I can get more.... why didn't I ask for a Maggiano's TO GO bag?
