I tried the Olay Pro-X but wasn't impressed. Used it for a few months but don't see much of a difference. My main concern is reducing pores and evening out my skintone which is pretty red around my cheeks and nose. I'm looking into the Clarisonic and I see the Mia on Amazon for $105. Is that pretty much the cheapest I'll find it? Also, how often do you replace the brush and do you use their cleanser?

The Mia brush is supposed to be changed every 3-4 months and no, I don't use the Clarisonic cleanser.

I just bought my BM starter kit at Sephora tonight and its making my face itch and tingle!!!! Anyone else have this problem when they first started and did it go away?

I just bought an Urban Decay Shadow Pencil in the color Sin. It looks so awesome! Anyway, this is my first time using eyeshadow in pencil form so I was looking up tips/tricks on best way to apply it. Came across a few reviews where the women said they did not like the Urban Decay eyeshadow pencil, because it was difficult to sharpen.

I was under the impression that you do NOT sharpen the pencil...the amount of product you see is what you get, right? :confused3 Please tell me I'm right, or I'll be so embarrassed!

Here's a picture: The black material you see at the base of the tip feels like plastic to me. No way you could sharpen that! (Or does the end of the pencil twist? I tried but it doesn't look like the product twists out....)

Also if anyone has suggestions on how to use it, I'd be grateful! The first application wasn't smooth. Maybe because it needs to be used a few times, or maybe I need to heat it up with my blow dryer, I don't know! :rotfl2:

No, you can sharpen the eye shadow pencil. I recommend getting a good sharpener. Urban Decay makes one that I use on the 24/7 eye liners and it does a good job.

wanted to share that I purchased the Monistat Chafing Gel for a face primer, and it seems to be working great for keeping me un-oily (I know, not a word) all day. Only by the very end of the day, do I feel a little oily in my t-zone. Before using this, I was blotting and powdering my face ALL DAY LONG to try to control oil. It was very inexpensive too. I ordered it from Amazon, in the 3 pack. I love it!

Yes. I had this problem and I loved BM. The bismuth in the make-up made me itch like crazy, especially when I sweat. If I was itching underneath the lights at the dentist, there wasn't much of a chance for it in Disney in July. I sent mine back ;(

Has anyone bought anything from the summer collections? I got the bronzer and Aurora palette from Dior, the bronzer, palette, balls, and brush from the Guerlain Pucci collection, and I realllyyyy want the Chanel bronzer! Oh and some of the Nars too lol

So, tomorrow will be two full weeks of using the Mario Badescu line of products for my Rosacea. This is the kit that I bought:

anti-redness.jpg

This kit costs $48 and it contains a 6 oz. bottle of Cream Soap, 1 oz. jar of Calma Mask and a 1 oz. jar of Control Cream. Here is what I think of each product:

The Cream Soap smells really good. It has a slight coconut scent and I really like that. It takes a little to get used to it since it is so creamy and does not lather. I'm just old enough to be a little weirded out by a soap that doesn't lather, but may face isn't greasy feeling from it. It just feels much softer after washing with it.

The Calma Mask reminds of a clay type mask. The first time I used it I put it one while I was in the shower. Even though I did dry my face before putting the mask on, it never really dried even after waiting the 20 minutes. Because of that, the next day I decided to try it again after getting out of the shower. This time it dried and it was nice. Never got a tight feeling like some mask give you when they are drying. After rinsing it off, my face felt so smooth and soft. :thumbsup2

The Control Cream is the best of the three items. It is a thicker cream, but not to thick. Goes on really easy and my face has not been this smooth in years. It is very moisterizing, but it does something to control the redness and the bumps. Says you can use moisterizer after applying, but I haven't needed to. As a matter of fact, I've been a little afraid to.

All in all, I would recommend trying these products if you have rosacea. I have not needed to use my prescription stuff at all since using this :woohoo: and I really don't think I'm going to need to use it if the last two weeks is any indication. My skin has not felt this smooth in years. I've tried to use moisterizer along with the prescription stuff and my skin was still dry, but not anymore. It is smoother than a baby's butt! :rotfl:

This was my first experience with Mario Badesu products and so far I'm impressed. Along with my kit, I ordered two hand creams. They are both very nice and seem to work very well.

Anytime you order direct from the company's website, you get to pick samples. Now, I was all prepared for those foil pouches of samples that may have one use of the product. Oh, but was I wrong! They send you really nice samples. I choose the Healing and Soothing Mask, Ceramide Eye Gel and Papaya Body Lotion.

The mask sample came in a small jar about the size of a sample of Everyday Minerals Foundation sample. The eye gel came in a jar about the same size of a eyeshadow sample from Everyday Minerals. (:rolleyes1 now I know you all know how big those jars are.). And, last but not least, the body lotion came in a small bottle that is about the size of a Visine eye drop bottle. So, the body lotion isn't a huge sample, but the eye gel was more then generous. It has been used every day for the last two weeks and I haven't even put a dent in it.

Needless to say, I was impressed and will not hesitate to order other items to try.

thank you so much for posting this. I'm going to try it!

I just dyed my hair from a medium brown to a dark auburn. I like it so far but want to go a bit redder. Anyone know a good color protecting shampoo to use, preferably from a drugstore? I hear red fades very quickly.

I'm looking for some suggestions for a good mascara. I don't want to break the bank though so, say, under $15?

I really would like one that plumps up my lashes.

Thanks, ladies!

BENEFIT , They're REAL is fantastic. It is 22.00 but if you go to ULTA you can usually use a 3.50 coupon on it. It is well worth it.

A while back there were a few responses about a hair remover system like NO NO. I cannot find them but there were a couple of hair remover systems mentioned. Anyone who uses one could you weigh in ?

Slightly off topic I went to Michaels today and they have these velvet triple bar jewelry "display " things that you see in the stores. They were on sale for 14.99 (plus teacher discount puts it to 12 and change). anyway they are PERFECT FOR bracelets and necklaces on the dresser.

Hi everyone...

Well, I'm a former MAC Makeup Artist, so a lot of my stuff came from there (because we "had" to wear the product... and oh, yeah... the 60% discount didn't hurt either... :rotfl: )

Anyway, whenever I'm shopping for makeup, if I'm looking for "department store" brands, I try to go to a CCO. If you don't know what a CCO is, it stands for Cosmetic Company Outlet. You will find them usually wherever there's a Prime Outlets (there's a CCO in the outlets right near WDW). You can get Estee Lauder brands (which includes: MAC, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Origins, and some other stuff that I just can't remember right now...) at 30% off retail prices. It's a good place to find stuff "limited edition" products. Products that are part of a collection that's only (supposedly) available for sale during certain times, after the promotion is over, it gets shipped off to a CCO. You can also find lots of "basics" there too (brushes, foundations, etc, etc).

But, I've come to love certain drug store brands, too. For example, NYX eyeshadows are a very good sub for MAC shadows, and they are only $3.99 per pot. Certain Milani colors are good, too. I've heard good things about Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation, but I've never tried it. I love L'oreal Voluminous Mascara. I'm not a big fan of mineral makeup, as I have a hard time finding a brand that has a shade that matches my skin tone (I either end up looking orange, or ghostly).

Um... I think that's it for now...

Oh, yeah... if anyone has any questions about techniques, etc, please feel free to ask (especially as it relates to MAC products).:flower3:

I have a question. I am in my 40's and my lids are not what they used to be. I use TARTE primer on my lids but even without it my shadow seems streaky. I used Mac, Dior cream and dry, Trish McEvoy, Tarte, Smashbox I could go on and on. Idid try the Sephor too and that one did not go on smoothly either. I tried waiting 10 minutes for the primer to set and then putting it on after only a minute or two. I also used Bobbi Brown Shell over the primer to help keep it smooth. What am I doing wrong?

I've been using cereve facial cleanser with my Mia but it's pretty blah. Any suggestions for a facial cleanser?

Also has anyone tried the cleanser and moisturizers at Costco? Normally if they put ther name on a product it's pretty awesome.

I use Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser. I put a tiny amount on the brush, foam it with my fingers and then turn the Mia on. :)

I used the Olay cleaner but I do not know if it was that or the Clairsonic that gave me a bad case of adult onset acne. Am on 2 meds from the dermatologist.

I use Olay Pro X cleanser, Costco has a great 2 pack. If I'm in the shower, I also my DD's Neutrogena graphfruit acne cleaner.
