Mascara - Sigh. I struggle with my non-existant lashes. Tried the Stila lash enhancer for $90 (can't remember name) but it didn't work after 4 months so I returned it. I switch between Loreal Double Extend (love the tubing - so easy to take off at night), Maybelline Great Lash (love the brush! but this mascara tends to smudge if I cry or rub), Loreal Voluminous (This stuff has the opposite problem - I can't get it off! LOL! I use it on my bottom lashes only since I know it'll never come off during day no matter what I do to my eyes), and Two-Faced Lash Injection (like the brush, but mascara seems a little dry...

Have you tried Latisse? It's $120 a bottle so a little more than the Stila lash enhancer but the results are amazing. Also, you'll be able to get away with using less mascara and primer, or even do away with the primer altogether. I'll use primer every so often, but for the most part I do without it. As for the Lash Injection drying out - mix it with a tiny bit of water, it works wonderfully!

I'm still here!

Although I've been "trying" to stay away in order to save money. Things have been really tight lately.

Anyways, here's my recommendations on some things I've been using over the past 6 months or so.

Make Up For Ever foundation - LOVE this foundation. I made the switch from Bare Escentuals to liquid again after swirling some BE on the underside of my wrist and seeing very fine lines magically appear where there didn't seem to be some before... I thought if it's doing that to my wrist, imagine my face. Occasionally, I'll swirl some over my liquid foundation just to give me extra coverage.... depending on the occasion. The MF foundation is $40 - goes on super silky and a little goes a long way. I find when I use a cheaper foundation - I also have Loreal and 2 Revlons sitting on my table - I use twice as much foundation to cover same area because they don't glide as easily. The coverage appears to be the same, so I'm trying to decide if $40 is worth the silky feel as it glides on my face or not....

Benefit Erase Paste - I use this as my cover-up. LOVE IT!! I will never use anything else again. It MAGICALLY erases any mark on the face and blends in so nicely. A little goes a long way.... which I like since finances are tight. Can't remember what I spent but it was around $25 I think....

Blush/Bronzer - Still looking for my holy grail...

Two-Faced Shadow Insurance - I would have never known about eye primer before reading this thread. I never could understand how women's eye makeup could last during the day. I have very oily eyelids and my eye make-up would run within the hour, seriously. Now, I never even have to touch up my eye make-up. I put it on at 7:30 a.m. and it's still there for evening!

Eye Shadow - I have MUFE which I LOVE - this stuff will last forever, lol. A tiny bit on my brush is intense on my lids - great pigmentation! Also just bought Urban Decay which is nicely pigmented and Smashbox. Only reason why I ventured into other lines was because MUFE didn't have the colors I wanted so had to look elswhere, but MUFE gets my first vote. Also, have 2 colors in Sephora - don't waste your money on this brand - the pigmentation stinks - I have to use so much of it to get the depth of color I want...

Stila Smudge Pot - Never thought I'd make the switch from pencil to pot, but this stuff is so great. It took quite some practice to get the lines right, but it doesn't take me long now in the morning to put on my eyeliner. I have the black (which I use on my top lids every morning) and gray and brown (for my bottom - don't like a harsh line underneath). My only complaint is that it seems to lose it's softness in the pot after a while.

Lips - Still looking. I currently use a discontinued pink color from Mary Kay that I have to buy on Ebay. I've been using it for a couple of years now. Not sure what to switch to when I can't get this anymore...

LOL! I use it on my bottom lashes only since I know it'll never come off during day no matter what I do to my eyes), and Two-Faced Lash Injection (like the brush, but mascara seems a little dry...)

I think that's it...

Like the others, I'd love a self-tanner recommendation. Over the years I've tried many types and they ALL have a tinge of orange to them. I want something that is truly BRONZE and realistic. And something that won't rub off on clothing if I perspire!!!! (grrrrr).

I have been using the l'oreal mascara with the lash serum in it. I must say that I think my lashes are longer. I do not use the serum at night and if I did I am betting they would be even longer. It is the one in the blue and gold double ended tube.

I need to check out ULTA's ad I have a 20.00 coupon and I have a 20% off coupon for Sephora that I got on opening day as well as a g/c for 10.00 which they did not take off my order.

I love Make UP Forever HD is what I have been using. I got the little kit for 29 which had the HD primer, powder and moistureizer. I use the primer and the powder. I do like it.

I'm here too!! Been enjoying the new Ulta open down the street and have now developed a nail polist obsession - hopelessly hooked on OPI. :)

If you are hopelessly hooked on OPI go to www.transdesigns.com Or www.transdesign.com I can never remember which one. They are a beauty supply place that sells OPI CHEAP! I hve used them many times. Just be careful because it is easy to get carried away.

I want to suggest also that you try the ULTA nail polish. While the color selection is not huge it is as good as OPI and when they have the sale you can get it for 2.00 per bottle. I have been using it for a while and I do love the clear coat nail drier which for 2.00 a bottle is every bit as good as the OPI for 12.00 a bottle and no one knows OPI like I do!LOL! I hve close to 75 shades (and therefor bottles) I told you certain people can get carried away at the beauty supply website!:rotfl:

:lmao: Getting carried away is just too easy. I'll try that website this afternoon (while DH is at work). I did buy one of the Ulta polishes but haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the tip!

Update - Well, nearly $100 down for nail polish. Yikes!!

Went to Ulta today b/c I am on the hunt for somthing that you use on your hair to protect it when you use the flat iron and something that keeps down the frizz. I am not going to even tell you how many things I got but lets say I had a 20.00 gc and a 3.50 coupon but I had to pull out my charge and it was substantially MORE> Sad thing was I did not even get any make up. I did get the last 3 bottles of ULTA Nail Drier 3/10.00. I had purchased 12 bottles last summer and I was on the verge of running out.

I got chi protector, Neutrogena split end "glue", no frizz spray protector, Fekkai summer frizz protector...I know, first of I thought I would try the cheaper stuff since none of the good stuff had been working. I also went to Christmas Tree Shops(if you don't live in the east be glad because they are also deadly to the pocketbook) and got L'oreal shampoo system w/out sulfates. My Liquid Keratin Shampoo went up to 30 a bottle and it seemed to be not working anymore. I paid less for the whole L'oreal line than I did for ONE bottle of the Liquid Keratin(I am pretty sure it will be going back after one use but I am being open minded)>

Hello everyone!

I spent quite a few hours lurking on (I mean reading) this thread and despite being a total tomboy happy with a little powder as a complete makeup routine, I gotta say I'm pretty excited to try some of this out.

First, thank you all so much for sharing your know-how! The encyclopedic knowledge available on these boards stuns me and I totally appreciate y'all givin' it up. :flower3:

I'm now working out at a hoity toity gym :snooty: and it seems like everyone there is a beautiful person (body and makeup PERFECT). My membership is free through work and its hard to beat $0 and I AM GOING TO BE HEALTHY. Plus its across the street from the office.

Lately my rosacea has been acting up - even more with working out. And the whole 'perspiration' thing is a little (ok a lot) out of control. I need a solution for after working out since my face powder routine isn't holding up.

I ordered a whole bunch of sample size Everyday Minerals today including some concealer and mint corrector. I'll try the Monistat underneath.

On to my question - any other makeup ideas that tone down redness and don't melt away with sweating?

I need some recommendations for under the eye circles.

We are going through something awful right now and it's showing on my face. I am a regular makeup wearer but I can't disguise these circles.

I am light skinned. Anything that can be found at Sephoria or in a drugstore would be fine!

Many thanks!!

Just found an ap for my iPhone that allows you to search all of the OPI nail colors and lets you see what it would look like on your skin tone. It is to cool!

This is my first post but I love makeup. As for concealer, my D loves Erase Paste and I love Mally's correction system. We are both very fair also!

Philosophy Eye Hope Advanced is pretty good. If you live near an ULTA they just put in the whole line and the Philosoply consultants are doing free make up etc. Might be worth it to try it. To cover the circles use Make UP FOREVER HD concealer. I use benefit base BEFORE I use the concealer. Also you should try Make Up Forever Hd finishing powder to seal it. It is white in the jar but it does not show only sets the make up. You can get a set with concealer, hd pwder and hd moisturizer for 29.00. Remember at both Ulta and Sephora you can bring anything you do not like back no matter what the reason.

Do you use metrogel? The dermatologist gave it to me my rosacea is not bad but it does get worse when my face is red from my work out. You can use a colored base under you make up. All the companies have them now including L'oreal if you do not want to spend a bundle(but l'oreal is up there now too). I would ask at Sephora and if you don't like it just bring it back. Green would neutralize red.

This is a drive by posting....:car:

I got Botox and it's fantastic. I thought I'd try it once. Fuhgettabowdit... I see this as a life time thing. :rolleyes1

You know, we spend so much on creams, and concoctions to give rid of wrinkles... this BY FAR is the biggest bang for your buck. :thumbsup2

It's funny how I've been told I look 'rested' and 'awake' lately. LOL! I'm as exhausted as ever - I'm just botox'ed up. Hahaha!

Hey Ya'll. So I lost my job a couple of weeks ago and it would not allow perfume, scented lotion, or gel nails. I have always been in foodservice and so have never worn much if any makeup.

Now I am doing stuff for DH's company and need to be "professional" and business casual. I like the mineral makeups, but I don't have a cleansing/moisturizing regimen at all. I am VERY fair skinned and seem to have a dry patch right between my eyes. Any advice?

TIA

I had a bad reaction to the topical version (one of the inactive ingredients is probably derived from corn to which I'm allergic) and the compounding and incoveinience of the oral just didn't make up for the little benefit I saw.

I am going to try the everday minerals mint corrector. They listed out the ingredients so I know there's no corn!

Went to the land of Sephora last week & picked up a few new products :cloud9:

Have also been meaning to mention a few tried & true products so here's a quick (albeit kinda long) list

Hair -

Shampoos/Conditioners - Using the sulfate free shampoo for colored hair & alternate with John Freida's purple line for keeping blonde highlights true, works great as does Big Daddy by Lush, purple with a gorgeous scent
Separate review of Moroccan Oil line below

Product - GOSH's Salt of Mine Wet n' Dry spray gives a beachy look & it's so easy (read idiot proof as I go for low maintenance spending time on hair)

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal - just a bit after the shower makes your hair silky & speeds drying time - have a bottle that came w/ Big Sexy Hair's Spray & Stay & would def buy it in the future - it has Argan Oil so I alternate using this & Moroccan Oil

Moroccan Oil - bought a set that had the oil shampoo & conditioner, paddle brush & matching bag for all - hey I was in Disney so you can always use an extra tote bag - not sure if the S&C are for me but I love the oil of course & the paddle brush is excellent

Sprays = John Frieda's Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear looks so pretty smells good overall the definite choice also Loreal's Elnett Satin & BigSexy work well

Oscar Blandis volumizing dry shampoo spray works well & smells great

Skin - Yves Rocher has plant derived products that are EXCELLENT
currently using Celluar Renaissance line & it WORKS also their Dermo Line correction line is amazing - I am in my early 40's & NO crows feet & just one forehead wrinkle so it works like crazy

The Body Shop has a couple lines that I alternate depending on the season, their Rose line (vitamin E) & their seaweed one - right now I'm trying the brand new Nutraganics & like it just fine - their 'trial' kit was $35 but it's money back guarenteed & their trial sizes last me two months so a good price for the entire line (plus there was a free gift)

Neutrogena ultra sheer spf 70 on my face (I am Irish) and 45 ultra cooling on my chest & arms with a 15 on my legs works great, I have color but don't burn

Self tanners - DuWop has a new one - clear revolotion - which is glimmering & goes on a light blue so it will not turn orange, haven't tried it yet but will let you know - the product rep was in store & was very convincing so we'll see - then rec'd a free sample of Clarins Delectable Self Tanning Mousse with Mirabelle Oil - put a tiny bit on my face this am so we'll see :cool2:

Nails - we have a super nail care line in Canada, Witchcraft & it's a cult favorite especially great for healthy cuticles

My friend that owns a spa swears by china glaze & I am lucky she sells me whatever colors I get for my pedi at cost so my pedis last a good long while

Makeup - love it but don't wear much, think I already covered the SuperNatural by Philosphy previously - that & Nars Super Orgasm :lovestruc

Am a huge lip gloss addict & fresh sugar pin up is probably my favorite

Mascara - just bought the new Revlon Grow Lash so we'll see other than that I love Great Lash clear Mascara - had the name wrong it's Revlon Grow Luscious by Fabulash

Oh and bath stuff - LUSH is still the best! I do like Basin but LUSH bath bombs are by far the best. I do love Basin's fresh milk & ration it lol.

So I got the l'oreal Studio Secrets primer for the face b/c I wanted to try it. I use it and guess what the second ingredient is ...dimethicone same as Monostat. Once again I am embarrassed to say I did not read the label in the store and if had I would just have stuck to the monostat. Live and learn.

This is my first post but I love makeup. As for concealer, my D loves Erase Paste and I love Mally's correction system. We are both very fair also!

I second the Erase Paste. I posted a review about it in an earlier post. Love this stuff. It really does "erase" any marks on your face, plus works as a skin brightener for dull areas.

ohhhhh I have been trying to stay away from Sephora but I am almost out of eye make up remover....what's a girl to do?

Lisa
