The Magic, the Memories and the Food! February11 Update July 23 WPuck's Express

Ahhh, the ever-famous California Grill review. :thumbsup2

Looks like such a great meal! The sushi = :cloud9:

It was such a great meal! We love the CG! And just ordering appetizers was the right decision, especially for Tom, as he LOOOOOOVED that sushi! :thumbsup2

Oh, wow! I am totally on board with your choice to order only starters at Cali Grill. They are outstanding and there's such a long list of them! The sushi there is quite good. And your flatbread looks incredible. You did an excellent job describing it, too. Personally, I'm from New England, and Maine lobster is plentiful and I've been eating it all my life. Thus, I only really enjoy lobster when its boiled and then dripping in drawn butter. :lmao: Why do anything else with it? :confused3

I'd go into more of my thougs on Cali Grill, but I might give away some of my plans..and I have PTR...did you know that? Just kidding. :lmao:

We really enjoyed just ordering starters, even though we weren't really sure the server would like it that we only ordered starters, but Erica didn't seem to mind at all! :woohoo:

Guess what - my first experience with lobster only dates back a few years, when I tried it for the first time at Disney.
And I have NEVER had it boiled and dipped in butter :scared1: - but it sounds yummy! :thumbsup2

May I tell you that it is yummy for breakfast too? Can't tell you more at the moment, as I don't want to give too much away! :rotfl2:

So, YOU have a PTR too? Never knew about it. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Just kidding, Tina. I do read, but sometimes that thing that is called real life gets in the way of my DIS time!

Enjoy your weekend! How many more weeks of school for you? (I still have 4 long weeks to go ........ :scared1:)

Great choice of ordering starters and desserts at CG! :thumbsup2

I am also not a sushi person but love the flatbread! It's a shame the Lobster salad was not everything you expected it to be but that dessert looks heavenly! :cloud9: I'm also glad Erica talked you into it!

In response to your question I have never seen Nussini bars in the UK but have not really tried to look for them. I will keep my eyes peeled to see if I see anywhere that stocks them. Looking forward to reading more! :)

I am not a big sushi person either. I will try a piece or two, but that's it. I could never eat a whole portion! But on the other hand I just LOVE the flatbreads!
I guess it was my own mistake about the lobster salad. I was expecting green leaves and some pieces of lobster in it. Instead it was ALL lobster! ;) But the breadpudding more than made up for it! :goodvibes

I need to ask my aunt in London if she can get Nussini bars. I used to send her stuff like that, but nowadays she can pick up a lot of Austrian sweets at here local garden center. :confused3 :lmao:

Loving the CG review!:thumbsup2

I had the spicy Kazan roll last year and whenever I see a photo of it I start drooling - like Pavlov's dogs!

One day I will try a flatbread - Simon always has one and says how delicious they are.

Shari, you HAVE TO try the flatbread! They are disneylicious!!!! Tom has had the Kazan roll before and he had been craving it since our last trip and he was not disappointed with it!

CG looks amazing. Glad you got talked into dessert. It looks awesome:thumbsup2

It's an amazing restaurant! Can't beat the view, can't beat the ambience, can't beat the food! :lmao:
Yes, I thanked Erica a few times for talking me into that dessert! :thumbsup2

I had that same flatbread...ITA, it was sooooo good!

Glad to hear you liked that flatbread too, Abby! I could eat one now! :lmao:

Hi, Karin! Saw your light on!

Hi Tina!
I'm trying to update my threads, but so far I have not accomplished much! Thank god it's a long weekend for me! (Only going back to work on Wednesday! :woohoo:)

Day 4, February 22

Breakfast at Wolfgang Puck's Express

We wanted to have a substantial breakfast that day, as we had signed up for the Wild Africa Trek.
So we drove over to Downtown Disney for breakfast at our favourite restaurant there ................

Wolfgang Puck's Express

Tom ordered some coffee and I had some of their

Organic Earl Grey Tea, really good!

We both stuck with old favourites ............

Tom had

IMG_9702-1.jpg

Wolfgang's Breakfast Pocket - scrambled eggs, peppers, Niman Ranch Bacon, onions, mushrooms, mozzarella and cheddar cheese baked into Wolfgang's pizza dough.
He really enjoyed it - it was just as good as we had remembered it.

Now guess what I had

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

YES, the famous Smoked Bacon Breakfast Pizza - scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mozzarella and cheddar cheese and Ranch Dressing. Now, what can't you like about it? It is wonderful - nice crisp base, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon bits fragrant tomato slices, and gooey cheese, topped with Ranch Dressing. Heaven on earth, well, at least for me! :cloud9:

And once we had enjoyed these goodies we were on our way over to the Animal Kingdom.

Coming up: Lunch during the Wild Africa Trek

I'm ashamed to say that we have never had breakfast at Wolfgang Pucks!:scared1:

But after seeing your wonderful photos - I think we'll have to go! But how to choose between yours and Toms dishes??:confused3

Great reviews Karin! Just what we need to cheer up a rainy Saturday in Scarborough :thumbsup2

Oh boy, did you miss some yummy breakfast! :lmao:

We really enjoy breakfast at WPE, especially since they offer some decent tea! I am so used to good tea, since my aunt from London supplies us with some really good teas! :thumbsup2

How to decide between Tom's and mine .......... order both and share. Or even better, order both and the Cornflake Crusted French Toast and share as a family - the French Toast is devine and the portion HUGE!!!!!!!!!

Glad I could cheer you up! It's not been the nicest day here either! ;)

We usually go to DTD at least once each trip - but we always end up at the Earl of Sandwich. Sometime in our "Year of Disney" we will have to have WPE!

Sad to say we have never tried WP's either :sad2: We always end up at Earl's in DTD for a counter service meal and last time we tried T-Rex one night when meeting up with friends.... Our next trip We have to make Wolfgangs a must do!!

For a second there, I forgot this was a dining report! Man...those look so good. When do they stop serving breakfast?

Breakfast at WPE was a revelation for us! I had the French toast and it's quite substantial... never expected it to be made with a bagel as the bread though. Guess that's why it "sticks to your bones" (or in my case, hips). My bacon-loving son had the breakfast pizza. He loved it so much that I took to making mini-ones for him here at home (froze individual portions of pizza dough just for this purpose), just to bolster my "best mom" status. :cutie:

I love the idea of having appetizers and desserts. My favorite dish at CG is an app (the goat cheese ravioli). That, a salad and dessert would have this little bear at "just right."

Thanks for sharing the photos!

We visit DTD quite often every trip! I love shopping - so DTD is a must. I love the make your own treats - so DTD is a must. And we love the food at WPE and EoS.
Huge problem - if we are on the DDP WPE is the much better value for money, but on trips without the DDP EoS is high on our list as well! ;)

But you are right - during your "year of Disney" you WILL HAVE to fit in a meal at WPE! :goodvibes

I really hope you get to try WPE, such good food, and such great value for money if you are on the DDP!
We just love the fact that we can order, than take a seat and our food is brought out to us, and glasses refilled!
Can't get any better at a CS restaurant! :thumbsup2

For a second there, I forgot this was a dining report! Man...those look so good. When do they stop serving breakfast?

It's easy to mix up ALL my reports, Yuki! :lmao:

This is one really wonderful breakfast! It will not let you get hungry for a couple hours! :thumbsup2

They change from breakfast to lunch at 11 or 11.30.

The Breakfast Pizza looks fantastic !!What are we gonna order inAugust for lunch ???

Hm, lunch in August .......

Can't wait to meet you and have lunch with you, Rosie! :thumbsup2

The French Toast is huge isn't it! I have a sweet tooth, but I could not even finish half of it! :rotfl2:

You ARE the best mom, making the breakfast pizza for your son! :thumbsup2

Hi Karin

Can I get something clear - that meatloaf you posted a picture of - is that from WPE? A Counter service restaurant?? I've never seen anything like it! Beats queuing forcheeseburger and fries in a long, noisy queue.....:lmao:

If I was ever of the counter service dining plan I would just eat at WPE every day and make my way through the entire menu!!

I had the chicken fingers the first time we ever went to WPE and they were very nice - and it was a huge portion!

We also visit DTD lots when we visit - great shopping - and eating!

Great update, Karin. I'd be skipping those particular items (not a fan of mushrooms, tomatos or scrambled eggs -- yes, I am boring), but I'm glad you enjoyed it as always.

Mmm WPE for breakfast sounds delish! We have that included in our plans - was planning on ordering the crispy cornflake french toast though after reading your review am debating whether to order the breakfast pizza instead! The tough decisions one has to make! :rotfl2:

You make quite a convincing case for WPE and DTD. I think we might make it there this time...we'll see. I do know that if we go and there is a meal involved, we will be eating at WPE! Why would I go anywhere else? :lmao:

We're actually down to two weeks...thankfully! Can't believe you have four more to go. Hope the long weekend helps. :goodvibes

No, I haven't been to Ohanas yet. I had it booked for Dec, then that trip didn't pan out, then for early March, and again, we didn't go then and I tried for April, but nothing available. I have even looked for my 1st night in Aug when I'll have my first night to eat where ever and it's not available either.

Karin has sold me on WPE, planning to gomy first time in Sept. It looks amazing for a CS meal.;)

There is a saying in the UK 'If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It'

:thumbsup2

The meatloaf is from WPExpress!!!!!!! Yes, this IS a CS!! They have an awesome salmon dish as well! ;)

Your comment about being on the CS DDP is just what I told Tom. If we would get a Bounceback at a Value with the Quick Service Plan, we would most likely spend 90% of our credits at WPE! :rotfl2:

We love DTD - Tom and I both love to stroll through the stores and find new items - we spend hours in there! Then over to Ghirardelli's for a chocolate tasting and back to our resort! :cloud9:

I still like the meatloaf, but will see !!Creme Brulee is a MUST!!!!!

We will find something nice to celebrate our DISmeet with, Rosie, as long as we have Creme Brulee for our dessert it's okay with me! :thumbsup2

Great update, Karin. I'd be skipping those particular items (not a fan of mushrooms, tomatos or scrambled eggs -- yes, I am boring), but I'm glad you enjoyed it as always.

Don't worry, Kathy, if you don't like all these items, it leaves more for Tom and me! :rotfl2:

You will still have to share your Starbuck's coffee with me! ;)
