But not too much, thank goodness.

Happy belated birthday, Melons! I miss you, girl! I love weekends but I hate them because there's not much DISing or coffee talk going on.

We went to the new house today and discovered that we have carpet and central a/c! Yipee! AND hardwood floors in the dining room and foyer. I love my new house. I can't wait to move in. (Cut me some slack, guys - I didn't even have a closet in my old house. My laundry room was off my bedroom.)

Glad everyone is having a good weekend. We had some scary weather Friday. The news called it "Life Threatening". The schools closed at noon. I left work at 3. And I got yelled at. By my boss. Because I left. An hour early. Sorry, but he ANGERED me. Apparently we had an emergency patient who needs dialysis TOMORROW because of a death in the family. WHATEVER. Look, people - it's not like I am the ONLY person that can handle this emergency.

There are people at every level that can take this thing to "complete." I will say nothing about my "boss" , who is in Louisiana, that is really never actually "at" work because he is working on his house. And living in mine while he does this.

He called me at 4:00pm on my cell. He asked, "What is going on???". I said that I was running from the impending tornadoes and they had closed the schools. He was NOT happy. Well, what was I supposed to do? Leave the child in the school hallway?

Cut me some slack, Jack. My family comes 1st. I hate my boss. Even if he is my DH's best freind. I'm sure there will be heck to pay tomorrow. Bring it. I'm ready.

Anyway, I've had no calls since then ans it's been a good weekend. My parents are coming for Easter on Friday and leaving on Monday. They are staying at a hotel, thank goodness. Then I have my best friend coming from the 18th til the 22nd. With her 2 girls. That should be fun. I'm REALLY looking forward to it.

Seriously.

MAELSTROM!!!!!

tink38--What a turkey! Of course your family comes first. I hesitate working for folks that don't get that and don't encourage putting family first. Sadly, we don't have a choice sometimes but to work with and for such bozos. If he's wise, he won't bring it up to you again. If he's even wiser, he'll apologize.

Here's to hoping you have a good time with your parents and friends next week!

Oh...and...IS A FASTPASS?!!

Hey Tink! I am excited for you! Building a house is great, we've built two...you get what you want!! We were renovating ours so we moved out... our first week out, it sold (it had been for sale for a while and then we decided to take it off the market and renovate...after the second week of renovations, it sold!!!) We are renting a little bitty house now...I can clean it in 15 minutes! I am in somewhat of a creepy dee kind of neighborhood - not scary....just different. I'm used to going out in my old subdivision and having lots of friends to talk to...I don't have much in common with anyone here so I just spend a lot of time in the house 'dissing'! I think we are going to build....I'm excited!
Sorry about your boss-man....

would you do us a favor and just tell a little about the fish and diving. I went diving in the BVIs and USVIs some years ago. I remember a giant pig fish. It was huge and hideous, but harmless. I just loved the parrot fish and angel fish. Can we hear a lil more if you feel like typing?

Hmmm. Let's see. We did two days of diving. The first day was two dives off of the Southern Barrier Reef, and the second day was three dives off of Glover's Reef Atoll. The water was absolutely crystal clear both days, with over 100 feet visibility, even at 60 feet down. Beautiful coral formations and lots of different kind of fish. We saw some sea turtles, moray eels, barracuda (funny story about that), eagle rays, stingrays, snapper, trigger fish, puffers, angel fish, pork fish (the other white meat, natch') and lots of others I couldn't identify.

The first day we were out, there was this young kid (okay, he was like, 26, but he seemed like a kid to me -- I'm getting too dang old) and his new bride, who were doing what I think was their first or second dive since getting certified. Anyway, we see this group of barracuda and he just starts pannicking, trying to get away from them. I swear, I think he was seriously thinking about throwing his new wife to them in hopes of escaping. Well, obviously, the fish could care less about us, and moseyed on their own way, and calm was restored. Back in the boat, on our way to the second dive site, we asked him what the big deal was, and he said, and I swear I'm not making this up, that he was scared because his new wedding ring was so shiny that he thought it might provoke the barracuda into a frenzy. I thought the dive boat guys were going to burst a vital organ they were laughing so hard. Needless to say, the rest of the day, his nickname was "Bling bling".

Really beautiful diving -- the reef there is just amazing -- nothing else like it in the Carribbean. If you ever get a chance to go, grab it.

BTW, happy belated birthday, PolyMelonMom.

Thanks for the good thoughts, y'all!

Creepy dee is now a household word. Isn't that funny? We watched Narnia this weekend and the white witch is DEFINITELY creepy dee.

It's so sad that the boss is also my DH's best friend. But he CAn be a butt.

C'est lave live, mon cherie!

Welcome Back Chapter 11! Sounds like you had a great trip! I know your daughter was getting sick right before you left...I hope that she made a speedy recovery!

Evening folks! Been yet another long Sunday. Sarted at 7:30 this morning going into the church. Got home around 8:30 tonight. Loads of fun! The Easter rush has begun though. Got something every night this week! But this is my favorite holiday - so much spiritual meaning to it. I like it even better than Christmas - and we put up 4 trees at our house!

Anyway, just thought I'd say howdy. Hope y'all had a great day!

Blessings!
Mark

Harrrrr-r-r-rrrr-r you've been drinking too much of that addicting pirate coffee, eh!

Told you it was good stuff!

arrrrrr
you were VERY right!!!

Just checking in after a VERY busy day.

Melonmom, thanks for the b-day pictures! Glad you had fun. Boy, those drinks were Biiiiig!

Lou, the group photos (both of them) were a hoot! You sure know how to pick 'em.

Tink, your new house sounds awesome. Isn't it fun? Hope this excitement makes up for all the headaches and heartache that led to it. And tell your boss to get a grip!

Welcome back, Chapter 11. I was thinking that you were back, and that you'd be surprised at how much catching up there is to do! I don't blame you for skipping it. As things seem to be slowing down, I'm hoping I won't have quite that much to catch up on when I'm away next week. Glad you had fun! How'd the kiddies do without you? We are such wimps when it comes to leaving ours, and they're 14 and 11! It's just easier to take 'em with us, but we have to do an adults only trip one of these days!!

I'm heading to bed. Have a good night everyone!!

I was there earlier, played a few Parlor Games. Played a really good round of Treasure Drop and won, yeah baby! On the other hand I suck at the Rumble puzzle. Although I am not sure that it qualifies as a true puzzle as it is more like a targeting game.

BTW, my avatar is from a portrait from there. Cute, huh?!

heh, I should start a Maelstromers pirate crew...lol

The kids seemed to do just fine. They stayed with some friends of theirs from school, and had a blast. I think they were sorry we were back, as now they have to start following the regular rules again! :teeth: It was probably harder on our dog -- she's 13 and hates to have her routine upset. She made sure to let us know her disapproval on our first night back by leaving us a nice steaming, uhh, "gift", by the door downstairs to discover when we woke up. Yuck. Oh well, small price to pay.

Glad we don't have pets to deal with! You have nice friends - to take the kids all week! That's the thing to do, I guess, if the kids are in school while you're away. We always have ours stay with family for our weekends away, but they're too far away to cover school days! Hmmm, I'll have to think about who we could target.... :teeth:

Javamom, thanks again for the t-shirt transfers! They are great!! :cheer2:

Criminy! Go away for vacation for a week, and about 80 pages and 1000 posts later, I come back. I'll never get caught up so I won't even try. Hope everyone's doing well. Just think -- you can't be doing as bad as Rocco Mediate, who just took a brutal, brutal 10 at the 12th hole at the Masters (that's 7 over for the hole, for those of you scoring at home -- what is that? a septuple bogey?) Oh yeah -- Maelstrom!!!

:rotfl2: You are obviously a golfer. :thumbsup2

Morning 'stromers! Just checking in - looks like everyone was rather quiet over the weekend.
MelonMom - glad you had a nice birthday!
Chapter 11 - That trip sounds AMAZING. I wish I could dive (ear problems . . .)
kpk89 - hmmmm, I think I missed it too. I guess I'll just read the edited version.
Javamom - hope you have a good lunch today. I know you were excited about the new job. And, again, the t-shirt designs ROCK!
horsegirl - nothing really to say! Just a big HELLO!

Happy Monday everyone - MAELSTROM!

We've had an all Disney one for the last three years. LOVE it!! Mark says I can't buy any more Disney ornaments. EXCEPT... right before we took it down this last time, it fell over... and some of our ornaments were destroyed. Namely, my Christopher Radko Cinderella Castle, and our Mickey tree topper. :guilty: So I HAVE to have a new tree topper, at least!! :teeth:
