I humbly appologize for not getting back to you on the email thing. You see, I am notoriously bad at not returning emails... promptly. Or even at all. Ask all my current friends. And some of my ex-ones. Heh, heh. Hell... even ask Java. She knows of what I speak. Plus... my inbox seems to be packed full these days with all the freakin' threads I've subscribed to here. And I don't go through dumping them very often and I've been missing other emails in the midst. I must go clean up my inbox. And email you back. Sorry. I am a slob. And a friggin' rude one at that.

Can I still go to your class? The General is soooo hyped for it and I would hate to disappoint her. That could be scary... though. She is a grammy. But doesn't look like Grammy. At all.

I'm so excited. Last night DH gave me a severe countdown beatin'. It was my fault for pinching his butt while he was engaged in a Fairy Time Out. But the kids enjoyed the chase which went upstairs, downstairs, outside and back inside. Then they REALLY enjoyed the tackle and the Single-Digit Torso Poke Fest. Which makes me scream, cry, giggle and sweat. All at the same time. I just wonder what our neighbours were thinking when I ran out of the house, followed by DH... followed by the three kids. Ran around the yard and then all back in. Heh, heh. Hell. Anywho... yep. We're on our way, soon.

I'm going shopping all this week. Need some more bathing suits. Shhhh. Don't tell DH.

Right now I have a "Very Good" signal strenght in the part of the living room where it usually waffles b/w low and good. So that's part of my frustration - I can't seem to pin down when or why it works or doesn't. So I'm guessing a repeater would be the best option.

The router is a Netgear 54 Mbps Wireless Router, Model #: WGR614. The wireless card is a Netgear 54 Mbps Wireless PC Card, Model #: WG511.

If you have the option of exchanging the router and laptop card I would recommend going with one of the newer technology routers that have better range rather than going with a repeater.

I have a Netgear WGT624 router that I have been using for about 2 years, the router is in the basement and my wife's computer on the top floor of a 3 level house has an Excellent signal strength about 98% of the time and it has never been less than Very good. This is the 108 Mbps router.

An even better option would be the newer Netgear WPN824 although it would be about $100 more than what you have now. But a repeater or range extender would probably run around the same or a little more so if you can exchange the router and card that would be the best way to go.

D-Link and Linksys also have comparable routers and they are both good.

If the extra cost of the Netgear WPN824 is not a problem that is what I would recommend since it sounds like you have some obstruction problems with the current router. If you don't want to spend that much the WGT624 would be about an additional $20 based on the BestBuy prices on their website.

There are some even newer technology routers with extended range and speed but they are still pretty expensive and you probably wouldn't notice any difference between them and the WPN824.
