I like the brown ones and the lite blue ones. I've never tried them on. Are they really comfortable? I saw a lady wearing those orange ones last week, I could tell she was coming from a mile away....they were soooo bright!

I dress like the GENERAL...black,navy....all the dark, somber colors.

While the thong has been popular among exotic dancers for awhile here, fashion historians say the thong—which has been wildly popular for decades in Brazil—was slow to catch on in the U.S.

"South Americans have had the thong swimsuits for years and that is what drove men insane there. The tourists would come and buy and wear it down there because they couldn't wear them in the U.S.," says Regina Little, a 10-year garment and fashion industry marketer.

A Thong provides more back coverage, with a strip of fabric that is usually one-half-inch to one-inch thick.

A G-string is actually very stringlike, offering the bare minimum in the way of fabric on your behind and across your back.

Gina Cooper, Editor-in-Chief of on-line fashion magazine Fashion Finds, agrees that "Brazilians definitely took [thongs to]swimwear," but pointed out that the thong didn't start there. Ironically, the style that many love so much on women may have actually originated on men, Cooper says.

"Thinking back to Ancient art and cultures, having the shape of most of the buttocks being revealed probably originated with men's athleticism," and the thong-like items were worn for "ease and comfort."

In fact, Cooper says, today's jock strap is essentially the "same concept with certain embellishments."

Some fashion historians trace the thongs first public U.S. appearance to the 1939 World's Fair when New York Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia mandated that the city's nude dancers cover themselves. And fashion designer Rudi Gernreich has been credited with introducing the first thong bikini in 1974.

PP Yes, they are very comfortable. So much so that my green and light blue pair weren't enough, so I needed more. So I got turquoise and then I still wasn't satisfied, so DH said I could go ahead and get all the colors that I wanted. :thumbsup2 I never wear anything else, except to church, because sometimes CROCS just look really stupid...like with long skirts. Trust me. ;) I even got DH and Jeremiah, Seth and Ethan a pair...then last night at Payless whilst shopping for wedding shoes, I found a little teeny tiny pair of navy blue ones for the baby. They are so danged cute. So now we all have them, except babys aren't CROCS, they're Airwalks...CROCS doesn't make 'em that small.

Oh and FYI...I haven't wore the orange ones yet, I don't have anything orange...yet. hehe

Mel - :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: Can't wait for the rest of the story - must have NOW!!!!

MP - that IS a quiver full of crocs!

DMM - good to see you back

horseypoodleyhmmmmpffffponygirl - I think I might have to put you on ignore. Everyone seems to forget that I'm a lawyer, too. Just not a bloodsucking private attorney. I actually DO GOOD for the children of my state. That's right. I'm a DO-GOODER. And I get paid diddly-squat for the pleasure. PUBLIC SERVENT. So there. But if you are only into bankruptcy lawyers, then, just so you'll be my friend, too, then I might have to point out that I occasionally have to enter that dreaded realm, too. But not Chapter 11. Thank Goodness.

PP, Grammy, Java, SNAP, PMM, ZZUB (who isn't really here), EVERYONE - GEEZ, I can't list everyone by name - I will inevitably leave off someone important, like one of the MarkyMarks or Lou- I send out a general hello - I am thinking of EVERYONE, even if I didn't write your name down. Don't ask for an apology - you ain't gettin' one!

for the love of heels mommy, if you stopped spending so much on those shoes, you'd be able to buy your boys a proper boat. You know the kind that has an engine, or a sail?

I believe I've told you all, in the past, that I Mel happyhaunt am a shoe girl. Well, more specifically, a BOOT girl. I like boots of all types much more than boring old shoes. And I'm just more used to boots. Wearing them with my cadet uniform at West Point and all. Well, I digress, because I'm really supposed to be talking about lingerie here. As much as I LOVE footwear... I ALSO love underwear. Of all kinds. Frilly things and not-so-frilly things. I spend a great deal of DH's hard-earned coin on unmentionables and so forth. I make some money of my own, now and again, and that I spend on the kids... or save for us all. But, I gotta say that my lingerie habit has always been considered ACCEPTABLE to my lovely brideman. My favourite store is called La Senza. Here. In Canada. Because we don't have a Victoria's Secret. Just the catelogue. Which mysteriously DISAPPEARS everytime it gets delivered to our house. Damn CAT! So... The General always knows where to shop for me for my birthday and Christmas and other holidays based around giving and receiving panties. Now... that may be a Canadian thing. So don't worry if you don't celebrate quite the way we do. Here. In the Great White North.

Now... The Blessed Reviled General and myself have very different styles of dress. I must say. The General prefers the colours black, brown and navy. She likes turtlenecks and sweaters. Cords. Long baggy skirts. The General is generally... frumpy. I, on the other hand, like vintage 60's and 70's clothing. Vintage jewellery. Kickbutt heels. And men in skirts. And thongs. So....... The General shops for me at La Senza but never buys me anything "tiny". Only jammies, t-shirts, workout gear, yada, yada. She NEVER buys me underwear of any sort. That is what I'm sayin'. To you all.

One Christmas not too long ago... I unwrapped a gift from the Beloved Despised General and saw that it was a Christmas Tree Ornament from La Senza. It was a ball-shaped globe of bright red with the words "La Senza" on it and a satin loop to hang it on the tree. Well. Nice enough. BUT THEN!!!!

I noticed something. Hum?????? It appeared to me that one could take the ball apart. Open it up. Like those old Leggs nylons containers of many years ago. So.... I opened it up. And found...

A THONG!!!!!

Yep. A bright red thong. With some sort of fluffy feathers or furish-type material down over the... errrrr... front of the thong part. Whoooooooo haaaaaaaaaa!

THE GENERAL HAD GIVEN ME(L) A STRIPPER THONG FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!

I gingerly held it up for all to see. The General started screaming at the same time I did. Her in absolute HORROR. And me... in absolute GLEE.

Gotta run to take the kidlets for lunch. More to come.

Part 2: The wearing of said Christmas Stripper Thong at West Point... to come... later.

Mel.

ah ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaa! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: tg I am not the general's daughter. Dj took back the dvc went i put on a pink thong, what for the love of floss would he take back if I donned red with feathers- how fowl!

Really? Judge Laney or Judge Walker? I'm thinking Laney, 'cause he covers Columbus and Valdosta. And hey, if you ever have any questions about 11, just shoot me a PM. I'll even give you the discounted rate. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Giving Melons a run for her money?

Speaking of bankruptcy, I'm morally bankrupt. Does that count?

PPG--> woohoo a COACH fan too! i'm a sucker for bags! i just got the diaper bag (DH just shook his head as he put down the plastic!!) so of course i had to get the pink watch to go with the bag!! now i have to get some shoes....good thing i live FAR from th COACH store at Woodfield, but there are always road trips..i mean the kids don't need to eat EVERY night! hahaha...totally kidding...kind of...no i'm REALLY kidding....sorta....

Dangit, see, I forgot PPG on my list. And I love PPG. Like a sista.

HG - You know, Audrey really wants me to have a matching dress, but it seems a little creepy dee for me and her to dress like matching prinesses. Plus, that's a whole dif't pattern. I definitely won't fit into the official Disney pattern, so I'd have to improvise. And that's a lot of fabric. And I wouldn't wear it like she would. It would become my official every year Halloween dress. and that's a little too boring for me. I want to be someone different every year.

I think I have the java thing figured out - but I have to go home to test it. I'm now on a mission and felt so left out last night. Until I started dreaming (nightmaring?). Ick, flashing chickens.

Where is Lou? I saw that he was playing with the Riddlers today.

DMM started a thread for MNSSHP on 10/5. We will be some busy beave . . .uhhhh, bees if everyone really wants to meet up in October!
