Maelstrom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You people were busy yesterday. I see why I am the only one awake. DS12 just got home from his first church lock-in. He loved it as they were up all night. He threw his delirious self into bed.

I loved Zzub's post.

I love horsegirl's on-site report! DC is wonderful and I can't wait to go again.

Well since this is like watching paint dry and DS6 wants a turn on the computer, I will honor his request to add some smilies here and give him a turn. :stir: :badpc: :grouphug: pirate: :moped: :hourglass :surfweb: :bounce: :thumbsup2 :clown: :woohoo: :smokin:  :lmao: :rolleyes1

Hey Vikings! The following was forwarded to me today and when I read it I immediately knew which of my friends to share it with. Enjoy!

ONE LITTLE LETTER MAKES A DIFFERENCE -- The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.
Here are some of winners:
-- Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time.
-- Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an a$$hole.
-- Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was y our money to start with.
-- Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.
-- Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.
-- Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.
-- Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.
-- Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right?
-- Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.
-- Glibido: All talk and no action.
-- Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.
-- Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.
-- Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating

I think my favorite is "giraffiti". :rotfl: It reminds me of a "Far Side" cartoon which depicts a huge empty room, with one tiny shelf waaaaaaaay up by ceiling. The shelf has a couple cans/boxes of something on it, and there's a guy standing there looking up at it, perplexed. The caption is "Inconvenience Stores." :lmao: I lovelovelove the Far Side.

Anyway, I have my own Mensa-like word to add, inspired by Grammy's diet plan.

Innerds -- the organs that are not as "cool" as the other organs. e.g. - appendix, spleen.

Can I be in Mensa now, huh? Can I? Can I?

And, Good Morning, Vikings!

Maelstrom ....

Is a Fastpass??!!!?

Yeah, you're wise to not attempt to catch up. Just dive in starting now ... the topics seem to come and go in a cycle anyway, so we'll be getting back to whatever you've missed so far.

Welcome, Viking!

Thanks for saying Thanks. It was a tough job sleeping on a couch next to a beautiful women!

I must admit that I did have some dream's of Grammy's feet. Sorry!

Horsey- Hey, I LOVE the mini trip report. Gorgeous pictures. Those Silverbacks, they are amazing animals aren't they? I am fascinated with them as well. Although I have to say I came across a video last night of a Silverback in the ebaumsworld video archives that made me puke on my keyboard. He was just being a typical animal, you know, eatin' his own poop and then yakkin' it up. I would post it but it really is too gross even for me. So MOST OF THE TIME, they are majestic. They do have their off days.

If I slap ya, could you still feel it in NY? (((((((((slap))))))))))))) LY/MI

Nicole Marie: What a great response to ZZUB. LOVE the thing about the W sticker. Made me laugh. Horsey's was great too. Just goes to show that unlike SOME other threads on the CB board, no matter what your different views on life, politics, religion, whatever, it doesn't matter here. Everyone is free to be themselves without judgement or flaming. I think we all know that deep down. This is one of the very few places on the CB Board where people from vastly different walks of life and vastly different locations can come together, let their hair down and just have some fun being goofy and making people puke on their keyboards. We all love each other and I think we mean it. After all, we are BORG.

Hey PASLEA POOH!!!!!!!!

((((((((((slap)))))))))))))))))))

I didn't know you were a LOSTIE. Bet you didn't know I was either. Couldn't tell by that last entry on the t/r, right? Was that episode not awesome? I got DH hooked on it and we were both sitting there with our mouths wide open. Yeah, at the Sawyer thing too. I just LOVES me some Sawyer. Hot and funny. What a man. Anyway, I had no idea AL and Libby were going. DH turned to me as soon as it was over and said "Well, those were the two chicks that got the DUIs. And now they're gone....Makes ya think, huh?"

Did you catch the post on one of the Lost threads (can't remember which one) where you can watch streaming video of the episodes on an ABC website? I had to show a coworker, who I've also gotten hooked on the show. We sat at work and watched the good parts again. I don't think Michael wanted to do it. You could tell in the replay. I think they told him they would give him Walt back if he got the Losties to attempt to ambush them or something. I agree that it is one of the best written shows ever. They always leave you wanting more, which is a good thing I guess. It's genius, really. They've got us where they want us. Because at 9:05 on Wednesday nights, I always seem to start counting the days til Wednesday rolls back around again.

Pathetic, yes, I know.

Have a great day everybody.

Morning all... Kinda new to this forum deal. Posting I mean. Love all your trip reports and this thread. I haven't been to WDW since 1993, So July will be an experience. If DS and DH get hooked, like I was thru the 80's (7 times from 81-89), I hopewe can go back in the fall of 2007. Does Disney do the free dining offer mainly in the fall and do they do it every year? :thumbsup2

 Hi everyone!

DH had the day off yesterday (his schedule rotates) so we took DD (age7) out of school when DD (age6) got out of kindergarten at 11am and had a family fun day. It was kind of funny 'cause one of the mom's waiting to pick up at 11am asked if DD7 had a Dr. appt. I said, "Nope, she's playing hookey."
DD7 (who thinks she knows everything and thinks she is an adult) says, "Mom, you signed me up for Hockey? I don't wanna play hockey!"
So, I had to explain to her how to skip school to have fun... how warped is that! I am corrupting her innocent little mind.

We spent the afternoon at the park...had ice cream for dinner, and then went to an early evening movie. It was nice. We very rarely get to do things like this since DH is either working of at school (finishing his BS). Plus the kids have their own packed schedules etc. It is nice to spend time together with no actual agenda sometimes.

Today the girls are headed to a pool party. That leaves me with a bummed out DS 5. It is always hard when the girls get invited to a party, and DS isn't invited. They are all so close in age that I always tend to clump them together for everything. But they do need to learn that they will get to go to their own parties etc. To ease the pain a little I have invited 2 of DS's friends over and we are going to have an all BOY 'party'. ('cept me...but I guess Mom's don't count.)

It is kind of funny really. All I had to do was offer to let them ride bikes, play t-ball, have water gun fights, and eat popsicles. (Which actually makes it easier for me...all outside activities!) And to top it off, when we were at the store DS asked if we could get straws. I said SURE. You woulda thought he had just won a million dollars. Either my kids are easily appeased or extremely sheltered...not sure which.

Try not to post too much while I'm gone...

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Mary Poppins was traveling home, but due to worsening weather, she decided to stop at a hotel for the night. She approached the receptionist and asked for a room for the night.

"Certainly madam", he replied courteously.

"Is the restaurant open still?" inquired Mary.

"Sorry, no," came the reply, "but room service is available all night. Would you care to select something from this menu?"

Mary smiled and took the menu and perused it. "Hmm, I would like cauliflower cheese please," said Mary.

"Certainly madam," he replied.

"And can I have breakfast in bed?" asked Mary politely. The receptionist nodded and smiled. "In that case, I would love a couple of poached eggs please," Mary mused. After confirming the order, Mary signed in and went up to her room for the night.

The night passed uneventfully and next morning Mary came down early to check out. The same guy was still on the desk.

"Morning madam...sleep well?"

"Yes, thank you," Mary replied.

"Food to your liking?"

"Well, I have to say the cauliflower cheese was exceptional, I don't think I have had better. Shame about the eggs tho....they really weren't that nice at all," replied Mary truthfully.

"Oh...well, perhaps you could contribute these thoughts to our Guest Comments Book.

We are always looking to improve our service and would value your opinion," said the receptionist.

"OK, I will...thanks!" replied Mary....who checked out, then scribbled a comment into the book. Waving, she left to continue her journey.

Curious, the receptionist picked up the book to see the comment Mary had written.

"Supercauliflowercheesebuteggswerequiteatrocious!"

Welcome to the Maelstrom thread! We are a crazy bunch.

To answer your question, Disney seems to do a special offer every Fall during Hurricane season (and after the kids go back to school). Sept tends to be a slow month. If it picks up a lot the offers might go away, but for now I think, it is safe to assume some deal will come out for Sept stays (possibly Aug too).

Free dining is in it's second year, and to be honest, most of us were very surprised. It is the first time I can remember Disney repeating a special offer. So maybe this means that it did so well they will keep bringing it back, maybe it is a fluke and we will never see it again. You just never can tell.

Make sure to read either The Unofficial Guiide to WDW or to sign up for www.tourguidemike.com for his online tour guide "book" and information. There is a ton of info here on the DIS but you will improve your trip a great deal with one of those guides (I prefer tourguidemike).

Hey everyone!!! Welcome new posters!

UGH...I had too much Cinco de Mayo fun last night.

Horsey!!! I'm loving the mini TR's! Thank you for taking us with you!!! You are such a little jewel.

Zzub Wow...I don't know if your wife will ever read what you posted here, but surely she knows how lucky she is. :)

It is a slow day our house today. Don't you know that the night we stay out until 2:00 - DS would get sick and be diagnosed with strep this morning!

I love these kind of jokes. Funny, corny, clean and Disney related. I found one that is not as funny but it sounds like it may have come from someone's trip report:

A seven-year-old little girl was excited when she went to Disney World for the first time. The little girl headed straight for Space Mountain. Her parents were worried that the roller coaster would be too scary for her, but she insisted. She enjoyed it so much, she rode it twice.

The next year the family returned to Magic Kingdom, and the little girl, now eight, again raced to Space Mountain.

As they stood in line, though, the little girl was soberly studying the signs that warn about the ride's speed.

"Dad," she said, "I don't think I want to go."

Her dad asked her why she would be nervous when she had enjoyed herself last time.

She replied, "This year I can read better!"
