Well, thanks, but I felt a little sheepish after your answer. Decided next time I'd better ask you what you've tried first!

To get him through, it has to be drill and kill..............no fun, but he just has to memorize them. Usually they lose the rule after the test, though, so that's not a long-term solution, but it helps them see they can do it if even for a short time...............marker board, chalk and sidewalk, sand in a tray..........as many varied ways you can find of writing and rewriting his words will get him through to his tests.

Oh I had forgotten about the writing it "in" something!! I will have to pull out the cookie sheet and sand again!! THANK YOU!! I came across that idea a few years ago, used it and then promptly forgot it...much like ds2 and phonics rules.

Also, he LOVES sidewalk chalk...so that might really help him. Maybe those form letters to run his fingers over might work as well. I guess I just worry a lot about everything. It's not enough that he is a strong reader, great with math, quick to catch on to new things *other then spelling/phonics* and very logical...I want it all...I want a great speller too!

Tomorrow our fun family time will include the letter break down. We can all play together! Oh the things I really do put my family through.

No, IRL he did..........I tried to remember that he's sick and pulled my hand ever so slowly back from the cast iron frying pan.................

Tomorrow our fun family time will include the letter break down. We can all play together! Oh the things I really do put my family through.

You can have him paintbrush with saltwater on a dark paper, and you can speed up the drying by sticking it in the microwave 10 seconds, and his writing will appear "magically"..........

Somebody better stop me.............

No! He actually stayed home, can you believe it? He ALWAYS goes to work..........even after biopsies, emergency room visits..........ALWAYS. Truth be told, I'm more than a bit worried............

Stop you??!! I was just getting ready to turn the crank to wind you up so that more ideas could come out! You really are gifted! Keep them rolling (as long as you are not sick of sharing that is). I am a geek. I could talk education for hours...and enjoy it.
