Hmmm, we were going to stay in Hard Rock for our Universal days, then switch to Swan.................but it's not available the 10-12, nor the Dolphin............so now what?

Hi all! :wave2:

Paige, sorry to leave you hanging. I was just going to grab something to eat. Then decided while I was up to go ahead and shower. And since I did that already then it was time to start cooking. And on and on. That is why I try not to do anything. It just snowballs. :teeth:

So I am on for a few minutes before I have to finish making lunch.

No, the week before..............Christmas Day was our last full day, we flew out on the 26th. The crowds started getting heavier the 23rd.........before that, it was no worse than the other times we've gone (summer and Spring Break).................

I love the parks and hotels at Christmas, but it was difficult to have Santa find us there. I am not sure I'd do it again with small ones...............

Oh Spring break! Hmmmm...too bad ours is around Easter. Is that when you were there?

I think I liked August better cuz the crowds were lower than any other time we've been. I didn't mind being super hot, if I could not get stuck in huge crowds...

That's weird. Maybe they'll open up more rooms later?

Oh! the Swan, we can get the teacher discount now :)

What Disney resorts have you stayed at? We really loved POR, so I don't know if I could convince DH to go up to the Swan...

ETA: I see from your siggy where you've stayed. Haven't stayed at the Swan yet?

No, haven't stayed at the Swan, but it looks nice. The Dolphin also takes the discount, it says, and they are available every day except the 11th. We might book that one and just see if the 11th becomes available. Or, we may have to move twice this trip. We may be looking at 4 days Hard Rock, 4 days Dolphin and 6 at AKL or WL.

Hi Steph! No worries, I've been planning and Sarah and Al were helping me out!

Oh, yes, our Spring Break trip was the week before Easter, we flew out on Sat to be home Easter Sunday. Then we decided we liked being home a day before going back to daily life, so we've always flown back on Sat. since!

Hi Steph - I want you to know that I just about fell out of my chair when I read this - it is SO me :rotfl2:

I haven't stayed in a Deluxe before - is it really worth the extra money? Oh, I KNOW it is, but really looking for ways to convince DH :confused3

I know that we really felt that it was worth it for Mod over value, because of the quiet pools and smaller building and landscaping and HOT TUBS.

We thought WL and AKL were beautiful, but the pools are always so busy, POR was awesome for getting into a quiet pool with only a couple other people instead of the one big pool.

We've pretty much talked ourselves out of deluxes.

Don't you just hate that compulsion to do something?

Ok, Paige. I have just one question for you. Can I hide in a suitcase and come with? :teeth:

Seriously though, wasn't there a thread once about the chatters having a meet? Or did that fall through?

We only stayed at Wilderness Lodge of the Deluxes. It was our Christmas trip, and we really wanted that atmosphere. It was like a little present to ourselves. We really, really liked it. We had the boat to the MK, so it was so much easier and more pleasant to get there and back. It was nice to have a bigger choice of restaurants right there.

But honestly, POFQ was just as convenient with its boat to Marketplace and the food choices in the food court. We also loved CSR when we were there........in fact, it was our fave until WL and POFQ knocked it out. We rate POFQ and WL about equal for us........with a nod towards WL's great decor.

We'd be there the week after Easter, I think. It's just that a week isn't enough. i'll probably stick with August.

I wonder what is going on on the 11th. Hmmm...

I totally agree about values. We love that attractive pricetag, but have seen them, and have no desire to be that crowded! :crowded:

Steph, we did talk about it, and then we just stopped. I brought it up again this week, but nobody answered me. :confused3

I'd love to take you Steph!!!!! :Pinkbounc

We prefer POR over POFQ. We really loved the grounds. We're thinking of trying CBR next, but I think we'll miss all the plants.

I think location and convience are the best parts of deluxes.

Good Afternoon!

I just wanted to wish our fellow Mad Chatter, Cassi a:

COLORFULMICKEY.gif

I haven't talked to her in awhile, though. Has she been on?

I'd love to come to a meet! :cheer2:

Agree about the values - DD and I stayed in one, which was okay with just two of us. DH and I stayed at CBR which was Nice. We're going to POP NY's with 3 of us and my hope is that DH says "never, never again" :rotfl:

OR, we could do a mod the whole time. But which mod?

I was leaning towards the deluxes just in case mom is better enough to come with. Then we would have room for her. In a mod, she has to get her own room..........this last trip we got connecting and it was very nice.

Aww, you rock!

I didn't know that teachers got a discount at the Swan and Dolphin. That is awesome! God knows they don't get paid enough, they could use a discount here and there.

Yay Paige for getting to plan a trip! For me that is almost half the fun!

After staying at POP, we have no desire to go back. It wasn't awful, but the extra cost for POR is worth it to us as long as we're not on a super budget.

Staying at POP enabled us to get 10 day no expiration passes. We still have 5 days left for our next trip where we'll be able to stay at a nicer place, so that was worth it.
