Small towns are a good thing. Ours is great for raising children. There just isn't much for the kids to do, which can be a good thing too sometimes. :teeth: When we need groceries or something, a visit to the nearest town is usually an all day event. Our nearest city is Selma. It's good for some things, but not shopping. I have to go there later for physical therapy (I was just going to say "therapy" but then I thought you guys may think I was a nutcase, so I added the "physical" so you would know I wasn't getting my head examined. :goodvibes

He he.. if you're on this thread then you are some level of nutcase... that just goes without saying! :lmao:

Luckily our area isn't that rural by a long shot - we're in CT afterall... :rotfl:

Grocery is one exit over in either direction (our town is right on the highway). Walmart is one exit over (or you can get there the backway - about 15 mins.) The mall is 20-25 minutes away... not too bad overall. ;)

So why is she going back on Tuesday? Why has she been off? Not that I'm jealous or anything... :rolleyes1

I work at a Construction office. :)
I was on maternity leave. . .You didn't know that?!? HAHA JK! :rotfl: I took off the summer with the kids. DH and I both are taking Monday off with the kids- We're thinking about going to lunch with DS on his first day of kindergarten. DD would die if we went to lunch with her! :lmao:

Everytime someone asks what I am in school for, and I tell them Elementary Education. I always get comments like, "are you sure?", "have you really thought about that?", always, the same type questions, or questioning looks. I was beginning to doubt my choice, but I think I will really like it. I hope so, last year I took my little girl to school with me and we worked in the library as volunteers, shelving books, and checking them out and in. They only have a part time librarian at the school. I really enjoyed it. That's when I decided to go back to school. :teeth:

Denise, do they have an assignment based on those books? Or is it more of a "suggested" reading list to make sure they are reading during the summer? What will happen if they don't read them? I'm betting there will be a WHOLE lotta kids who didn't read them. I'd just keep my name on the waiting list and get it when you can, even if it is AFTER school starts.
Here's what the list says. "You will be tested in clases during the first weeks of school."

Ahh. . .Okay! I think I get it after re-reading it. She's already read ONE, and it's not like they're going to test them on both the first day of school. I bet they won't even test them on a book uintil later that week or the next. Thanks, Bonnie! You helped me answer my own question! :teeth:

So, I think we're going to buy it from Amazon.com

Just stopped in to say hi so you guys wouldn't worry. I worked the afternoon of the 8th, and then was just in pain so went to bed after. Today I was there all day, and again, hurts a lot when I get home, so I haven't been on. Just laying down, reading, talking to my boys.

Luke started preschool today and seemed to like it fine, though the teacher we had met wasn't there, she quit last week..........she was their most senior teacher they had, they had told me.

Nick went to sixth grade orientation, and seems very comfortable about what he will be doing daily. He doesn't get his schedule until the first day, so I'll have no idea what he's doing that day!

I have meetings all day tomorrow, half day on Friday. I hope to finish unpacking and setting up the room Friday if I can, then I can put up my posters, bulletin boards and so on on Saturday, in time for Meet the Teacher on Sunday. Then Monday I can get plans together.......school starts Tuesday.

Anyway, don't know how much I can get on, but I miss you guys!

Paige, glad you are busy in a good way and you are missed! Hope the pain is gone pronto!

Nothing much, I am going on a big family trip/reunion type thing to Wisconsin Dells next week though so I am excited about that.
I miss going to Wisconsin Dells every other summer! That was a family tradition growing up. We would rent a cabin there for a week every other summer (we would go to Door County, WI the oppisite summer). The very lucky summers we would get a trip to Disney or out West too! My family loved to travel.

Anyhoo.....have fun at Wisconsin Dells!! Ride a "duck" for me!!! :)

Thanks Cassi and Denise! I'm sure her birthday will be extra special because she'll feel so popular! ;)

Hi Jay! Great to see you today!

Michelle, teaching is wonderful and rewarding, but it is really easy to get burned out! The end of last year for me was awesome. At Kindergarten Graduation, after I gave all the parents the memory books I had made for their child, they thought I was da bomb! They gave me a lot of nice presents, but the best was the wonderful personal messages they wrote for me on the cards they gave me. Those meant a lot. A couple people told me that I would always be that one special teacher that their child would never forget who made a difference in their child's life. That made me feel so good!

Good morning!

Cassi so glad you're back!! Don't stay away so long!

Bonnie sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I hope you get better soon!

Denise I hope you get the book ok.

I think I need to "stock up" on Congrats and Happy Birthday clipart for my photobucket. I have none!
