THE LIBERAL THREAD #3- No Debate Please

As I sit here on my vacation...I've been popping in and out of the DIS. Not really hangin' around, though. I've peeked at some threads though. And I think I've figured it out.

It must be nerve-wracking and scary for the others. Can you imagine?

There was a CNN news poll the other day, and the results were pretty entertaining to me. 75% of respondents said they were glad that George Bush was leaving. Basically...a "don't let the door hit ya'" response.

Can you imagine being in that 25%? The tiny minority...still clingin' on to George Bush. Moving from incompetence to competence. Knowing that almost everyone in the entire country, not to mention the rest of the world, is turning flips for something different then what you still think is great? Knowing that what has been done may be undone...when you thought what was done was great? I'd feel bullied and ganged up on. I'd probably try to pull fireworks out of my rear as well...to lob at the other side without provocation. To make myself feel better.

That's all some on the other side are doing. They're defending themselves against what they fear. Because they know it's over. And they know they're standing out there all by themselves. It's better to lob bombs at the other side for protection, then to admit that it's finally over. And they lost.

The evolutionary primacy of the brain's fear circuitry makes it more powerful than the brain's reasoning faculties. The amygdala sprouts a profusion of connections to higher brain regions—neurons that carry one-way traffic from amygdala to neocortex. Few connections run from the cortex to the amygdala, however. That allows the amygdala to override the products of the logical, thoughtful cortex, but not vice versa. So although it is sometimes possible to think yourself out of fear ("I know that dark shape in the alley is just a trash can"), it takes great effort and persistence. Instead, fear tends to overrule reason, as the amygdala hobbles our logic and reasoning circuits. That makes fear "far, far more powerful than reason," says neurobiologist Michael Fanselow of the University of California, Los Angeles.

Hello everyone! I have just returned from a wonderful few days in Disney with friends and family. I didn't have a moment to read here, so will have a lot of catching up to do. The one or two things I have read, confirm to me what you have posted Jen. Sad isn't it? :sad2:

::yes:: Sad.

Welcome back Slapstick! I am so jealous, I am sure you had a blast!

You have missed nothing here, just more bitterness....

I see blanket pardons in the future.
I also think that this is very likely. According to John Dean, Nixon decided that he had the authority to pardon himself but did not do so because Nixon felt that it would hurt his place in history. bush's place in history is pretty well set and so bush probably can not hurt himself with a blanket pardon

I'm with you Carla.

What could he possibly do to make his legacy any worse? Would anyone be surprised by a self-pardon?

It's fantastic that you were able to spend time with family and friends and at Disney! I'm sure you had a wonderful vacation. Vacation time is meant to spent having fun with family and friends, not on the internet in cyber world!

Welcome back!

You are so right! Nothing Bush does can make his place in history any worse, he's pretty much sealed his fate. His only hope is to pardon himself and Cheney. Sooner or later the truth will be told, and it ain't pretty for the two of them and their buddies.

Did anyone watch 60 minutes tonight? Steve Kroft followed the Obama campaign for two years up to now. The segment was called "Barack Obama: The Road to the White House." I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am so proud that President Elect Obama will soon be President Obama.

I missed it. The child was hungry...and he wanted to be fed. Darn kids. ;)

Good evening fellow citizens!!!

At this holiday time of year - I can't help but feel so sorry for our conservative friends, neighbors, family, who have no optimism to look forward to in the upcoming year(s).

I am so looking forward to the change the Obama Administration is going to bring ............ we're watching living history folks!!!!

Ughhhh!!!! I wanted to see that, but was at a hockey game! I've been waiting for this episode and completely forgot to set the DVR. Isn't he making a documentary? I guess I can catch the piece(s) on youtube. At least the hockey team won so the day wasn't a complete loss.

I just want to add that I am totally and completely 100% thrilled with the choice I made when I voted for president. Despite what some disgruntled people want to believe, the American people have spoken. Most Americans are looking forward to January 20th!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: party:
