THE LIBERAL THREAD #3- No Debate Please

No, we're back to our normal sunny blue skies. The snow was 90% melted later that day (Tuesday). DH took the kids to a neighborhood hill to go sliding down on innertubes. By the time they got back the streets were clear. The 2nd storm we were supposed to get just ended up being rain and LOTS of wind. The roads will be fine. Have a safe drive!

Thanks hon!

We're hoping to go the river of lights tomorrow evening. I'm hoping it's open on Sundays.

Then I have a date to go see Milk with a friend.

From Taco Bell, or from biscuits and gravy?

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I don't know if you guys like beer, but I always find Beck's very gassy. Nothing like Sam Adams. Now there's a beer.

Biscuits?

Is that shrimp scampi in there on top of the biscuits?? That's an odd way to have shrimp scampi... that sauce is just covering whatever the contents are so I must imagine that it is shrimp....and are there bits of asparagus as well??

Beck's gives me a nasty feeling the morning after.

It must be liberal biscuits and gravy. Elitism and all.

I must agree with you on both counts Beck's is just so gassy  but Sam Adams is quite good. But I have to throw my hat in for Magic Hat Beer (you should see their website), they had a (what they consider a case) for the Presidential Election, it was the coolest box ever, telling you to vote, the graphics were so unique.... I should have kept one of those boxes, but I just didn't think to, wish I had... but their beer is fabulous if you ever see it. We found it near Williamsburg at a waterfront Eatery, so it's around.... But the factory is up in Vermont, and I believe they also have a factory in Washington State now.

Well, that is what I was thinking... I mean one of my favorite meals is shrimp with asparagus, or, well, anything with asparagus, but particularly shrimp. So when I saw that sauce, it just said to me it was shrimp, and the bits were asparagus. It's so good to have a liberal meal.

Thanks. Local beer? I will look.
But yes, Beck's has a terrible aftertaste. And makes you wonder what you could possibly be thinking. If you were at all.

Btw, I like Taco Bell (remember 'Shaped like a miniature Alamo"?) and biscuits and gravy from Cracker Barrel. I even bought a can of Campbell's sausage gravy from Winn-Dixie last time we were at WDW.

Here was the political graphic on a bottle, but they had variety cases that had the same graphic

Here's a Politico article about them, just can't really get any more liberal:

Tavern politics

Free donuts at Krispy Kreme. Free coffee from Starbucks. A free scoop from Ben & Jerrry’s. Corporate America is doing its part to reward Americans who do their civic duty today and get out and vote.

One company, though, has made a campaign of it — which explains those cases of “Participation Lager” you’ve seen in Costco the last few months.

The Crypt called up the Magic Hat Brewing Co. to find out what was behind those beers. Alan Newman, who runs the company and goes by the title “Conductor of Cosmic Symphonies for Magic Hat," said he began kicking around the idea of connecting beer and politics in the mid- to late-'90s.

He said his goal wasn’t to influence which candidate would win but to “counteract the neo-prohibitionist movement” that he saw bubbling up at the time. “It’s not so much about trying to affect the election as it is about bringing interest in politics back into the bars and taverns.”

Zero-tolerance policies were becoming the norm at universities and, said Newman, “MADD was really strong. ... It was really right before the whole buildup of the religious right, which seems to have dissipated as well, praise the Lord.”

Over the course of the first 100 years of American history, taverns served as political meeting-places and even polling stations. Newman said he grew up in a tavern atmosphere and wanted to revive that tradition while defending bars from those who saw them merely as dens of sin. “Taverns aren’t just a place to get drunk and hook up,” he said.

The campaign — in which Magic Hat replaces its Halloween specialty beers with election-themed brew — began in 1998 around the Vermont gubernatorial election and continued with the 2000 election. The campaign works in cooperation with the perfectly named HeadCount — an organization that has registered upwards of 100,000 hippies at various festival and events this election cycle.

This year, it was also good for business. “Whatever we could produce just vanished off the shelves,” said Stacey Steinmetz, whose title is “Supreme Dreamer and Schemer.”

Magic Hat sold out of its 119,346 twelve-packs — more than 1.4 million beers — and its third-quarter sales were up 41 percent over last year’s Halloween batch. “I think people were really into this election,” Steinmetz said.

I agree Beck's leaves a terrible after taste. The last time I had beer I sat around smiling and then realized it was just gas. Darn!

Bleeeech.

Taco Hell.

We call that Mexi-can't.

Doesn't make me feel nearly as dirty...ermmmm...sick as Beck's though.

I've contemplated going, but it's too cold at night for my bones! I do believe that the only nights the River of Lights is not open is on the 24th, 25th, 31st and Jan 1st. Well, that would make December 30th the last day, I guess. We've been before. It's fun!

Editing to respond to your last part... DH and I want to see that! I love Sean Penn. Hopefully we'll get to see it while we're off from work.

Good Morning

Everyone is still sleeping here so I been wrapping for the last two hours and needed a break.

I think we're going to skip church today (second Sunday in a row  )... it's just too trecherous out there. So it'll be another day of watching television I suspect; we're too daunted by the idea of cleaning out the basement today, and the rest of the house we've pulled together over the past couple of weeks (including the living room, yesterday).

Heahten!!

Good morning all! Merry Yule to you pagan folk, and Happy Chanukkah if you're Jewish.

My Yule tree has been decorated for a while, and I'll probably do a bit of meditation in front of it tonight. :hippie:

The presents under it I'm saving for Christmas though :cutie:

It's a UU church, so I suspect we'd be considered by many to be heathen more so if we did go rather than didn't go. :rotfl:

We put up the tree yesterday, after the incredibly-amazing Jordans Furniture actually came through and delivered our living room despite 14 inches of snow that fell the night before. And not even late in the delivery period they quoted -- the delivery truck arrived at 1:20 PM (when they quoted 1PM-5PM)! As soon as the furniture was in, we put up the tree, and all our Mickey and Teddy Bear ornaments on it, and a string of lights, and also put out our Disney Chanukia.

The presents under it I'm saving for Christmas though :cutie:
No presents this year... we've been treating ourselves quite well outside of Christmas, Chanukah and the Solstice.

Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate today!

The weather outside is frightful.....................More snow overnight then I expected. My daughter and her family need to drive back form PA later today so I hope the snow stops, and the roads are cleared.

I planned on going to Kohl's for a few last minute gifts but that is out. It seems nature is going to hurt the economy more, the stores are even more empty then they were.

I love Sean Penn. I mentioned before that I went to his preview of Call of the Wild where he was interviewed in a small local theater nearby. He is a very quiet Maverick! ;)

"I didn't compromise my soul to be a popular guy."-George W. Bush

May not of compromised it to be popular, but he sure the heck compromised it.
Saying that he has integrity, sure I will buy that if it is Opposite day
hmmm
Integrity may be seen as the quality of having a sense of honesty and truthfulness in regard to the motivations for one's actions-wiki
