I also have a wierd obsession with Boy George and the Culture Club.

My childhood was a bit different and I never had an opportunity to expierence his music. I remember being frequently confused at recess.

Karma Chameleon was the first single I ever bought myself. Still one of my faves. There is nothing like some old school Boy George.

Up until about 9 years of age the only music I heard was Folk and Bluegrass.
I knew who Dylan and Guthrie were but that did not help me on the playground :rotfl:

When I was a young child, my mom always played her music on a reel-to-reel tape player (that's aging me, isn't it). I grew up listening to Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Carol King, and Johnny Cash. I also knew all of the words by heart to the 70's rock opera "Jesus Christ Super Star" when I was 8 years old.

Oh, and I did get to meet Sting when I was a teenager.

That's what we aim for!

And, re the Bush thread, The Manilow was my first celebrity crush. Don't make fun of me. I was like 10 and thought he was a handsome fellow!

I have always had a weakness for blondes. Which totally explains why I married an Asian dude.

Morning libs!

At work now, enjoying the pure fealing I get from fasting in the morning :hippie:

(aka I was running late and missed breakfast, now I'm hungry :rotfl: )

And you can't quote the current POTUS without visiting www.dubyaspeak.com to hear the audio samples first hand!

Some of my favorites:

"I, I couldn't imagine somebody like Osama bin Laden understanding the joy of Hanukkah"

"This is an impressive crowd, the haves — and the have mores. Some people call you the elite. I call you my base."

"You said we're headed to war in Iraq — I don't know why you say that. I hope we're not headed to war in Iraq. I'm the person who gets to decide, not you."

"The truth of the matter is, if you listen carefully, Saddam would still be in power if he [John Kerry] were the President of the United States, and the world would be a lot better off."

"We got an issue in America. Too many good docs are gettin' out of business. Too many OB/GYNs aren't able to practice their — their love with women all across this country."

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

"I'm honored to, uhh, shake the hand — of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein. Ummm, I'm with sssix other Iraqi citizens, as well, who suffered the same fate. Uhh, they are examples of the — brutality, uhh, of the tyrant." (I'm still trying to figure out if he meant he shook the stump or??)

Pretty funny. However, we demand that you tell us who your first celebrity crush was (see last night's posts). Or else. No lunch either!

That's just priceless. And sadly, true. But don't forget, a large crowd of privledged West Point and Annapolis grads cheered for him yesterday at a football game (where most of them were, most likely, a little drunk*), so some people still like him. Talk about fishing in a baited pond.

*I'd just like to add that having experienced an Army-Navy game or two, I base that state of drunkenness on personal experience.
