The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

Its great to see how involved people are getting, especially our generation.

Yes, it is! There has been a lot of encouragement on campus for us to get out and vote. Our chancellor even sent out a campus-wide email telling us all to go vote.

The debate on thursday is going to be a blood bath.

I truly hope it stays civil and polite. I'm a little surprised to see Obama edging up in Texas. If Hillary loses Texas or it's very close, I think then that's that. Wisconsin was her dream demographic and she couldn't hold it. Ohio will be the same. She's got to win Texas big, imho, to stay viable.

It's going to be ugly. With the negative tact she's taken of late, I flat guarantee that much.

If she doesn't win BOTH Ohio and Texas by at least 15 points - and that's particularly true in Ohio - she will start getting pressure from party leadership to do the right thing and drop out of the race. Gore, Pelosi, and even Howard Dean will start working behind the scenes to move the party towards a November footing.

I'm surprised that TX is so close and that even with her there all last week, he has been eating away at her lead. She needs a double digit win in TX and OH I think. But a win in TX in the popular vote, might not equal a win in the delegate count, especially since the Hispanic vote concentration is not in the larger delegate precincts.

I think she is very capable of a big win in OH, but I really thought she'd be much closer in WI - like you said, it was her dream demographic.

For the debate, I hope it's a discussion about the issues, and not a personal fight like in SC. I have a feeling that the latter will be the norm in Thursday's debate.

It wasn't plagiarism. In order for it to have been plagiarism, he would have had to have used something without someone's permission. That isn't the case. Also, it wasn't a speech, it was a bit part of a much longer speech. This is just yet another sign of Hillary's campaign getting desperate and trying to throw anything they can at him hoping something sticks.

Plagiarism is using others words or ideas without citation. Permission is irrelevant. If I give you permission to copy my work and you turn it in without citation, it is still plagiarism. There is some leeway given for using he words of political speech writers. But the same words should not be recycled for use by other politicians without citation. That is also plagiarism.

Grrr on a side note... Grrrr. I hate the thread subscription thing. The default is instant email notification.

I agree. But with the current numbers in Texas tightening and with Obama's win tonight giving him even more momentum, it's going to be very difficult for her, to say the least. I wonder if it's already over. :confused3

It may be, but I wouldn't count her out just yet. Let's wait and see what happens in Texas, Ohio and PA.

He noted in NH back in December that him and Patrick share words of each other in their speeches.

I can't believe this is being made into an issue - it shows the desperation of HRC I think.

HI caucuses begin at 1 am ET. does that sound right?

I think it starts at midnight for you.

I can't believe the cable news gave Obama 50+ minutes of air time with no breaks or talking over him.

"Uh, Mrs. Clinton, could you please hand over your belt and your shoelaces...."

After hearing Obama's speech in Houston tonight I'd say he's literally unbeatable - but I've been wrong before. ;)

Seriously, if Hilary Clinton's campaign is going to stay alive she'd better shine like she's never shown before in that next debate. If she doesn't then - stick a fork in her, she's done.

See...I believe in common sense way more than I believe in jinxes. The Democratic Party, the middle, and even some Republicans want change, and this time, noone's staying home, hoping for the best. If the huge Democratic turnouts mean anything, it's that the Democratic Party is energized and is lookin' for a fight. Besides, I wouldn't be too concerned about people staying home this November. People are excited about being a part of history, and all American voters, especially Democrats, have a chance to make history here. Would you want to be the liberal who, when asked which first female or first black candidate you selected in 2008, said, "Meh. I liked Obama/Clinon, but I just didn't feel like showing up"? IMO, that just ain't going to happen.

I agree...to many want a Dem in office. We were talking tonight looking at the amount of Dem voters to Rep voters and there is no way IMO that a REP will win the POTUS

Not to mention all the disenfranchised New Yorker's who actually thought their vote WOULD be counted.... Looks like it will be, but you'd better bet if this were Hillary's lost votes she'd be out there on National TV every hour complaining about how disenfranchised her voter's are.... Just look what she's doing with Florida in Michigan where she knew going in those delegates would not be seated.

there was another article on this that I read showing that there were many area in NY that showed Hillary with "0" votes....I will see if I can find it:thumbsup2

It may be, but I wouldn't count her out just yet. Let's wait and see what happens in Texas, Ohio and PA.

I agree....she needs big wins there. After his speech in Texas tonight however and most people at this point also tend to vote towards the popular vote that it will be tough.

I don't think that this time around is her time to be POTUS....If I had to put a bet on it I would bet that Obama will get the nod.

I still have trouble however with all he says that he is going to change and give to everyone. He still reminds me of old politician promises...vote for me and I will give you the world. It's not that he is saying he can change 5 or 10 things it's more like 20 or 30 things and that are BIG things makes me suspicious.

Congrats to Obama tonight :thumbsup2

Just more "second-class" delegates. ;)

The debate on thursday is going to be a blood bath.

If so, Hillary Clinton will lose. I wonder how much support her "plagiarism" stunt cost her. I wonder how many people she offended with that pettiness?

I think it's over for Hillary Clinton.

I don't expect it to be civil during the next debate... I think we've seen the tone that has come up the last week, that is only going to worsen. I've noticed Obama has a very delightful tone when responding to negative ad's when really what he is saying is a dig to the person playing that game.... It's why he is and will be very popular... He can say things to refute these negative reports, but yet he says them in the most delightful way..... We'll see if that holds up for the debate....

It's either midnight or 1am, so probably no results until 3:30 ET... I guess I'll get them when I wake up....

I've got to go back and find the chart with the states remaining for primaries...

I suspect lawsuits over MI and FL - she will never concede. The debate on thursday will be all about desperation.

Hillary's campaign: "Obama's negatives can only go up"

I think that shows where this campaign is headed.
