The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

I watched, and read, Hillary's speech. I'm not sure what the strategy is with refusing to give even a few words of concession. I really hope, though, that her behavior does not become acceptable in politics. A few nice words spoken in the spirit of civility don't make you weak, they make you gracious.

I suspect lawsuits over MI and FL - she will never concede. The debate on thursday will be all about desperation.

Hillary's campaign: "Obama's negatives can only go up"

I think that shows where this campaign is headed.

She has all but said she will not concede at any point before the convention...

I just heard that on the news "Obama's negatives can only go up", yeh, great tactic, I think he's ready for it....

There's been no concession for the last 3 weeks..... I do agree a concession does make you gracious..... However she will not concede anything.... Her true spirit is coming out.

Even when Obama is speaking about John McCain he first emphasizes his great commitment to this country, and his trials and tribulations, and he is to be respected.... I find none of that with Clinton anymore, now it is just a grudge match....

Obama gets his digs in. He does them in a more refined way but they're there. He's not all sunshine and roses.

I do believe that this is Obama's time though. I don't think that anything and I mean ANYTHING can slow the juggernaut this go round. I just hope that his fans can be as gracious in victory as I know he will be.

Then it's time to go for Mr McCain. THAT could become interesting...

Plagiarism is using others words or ideas without citation. Permission is irrelevant. If I give you permission to copy my work and you turn it in without citation, it is still plagiarism. There is some leeway given for using he words of political speech writers. But the same words should not be recycled for use by other politicians without citation. That is also plagiarism.

Grrr on a side note... Grrrr. I hate the thread subscription thing. The default is instant email notification.

You don't hear a thing from Obama when she lifts his speeches or verbage, so why should she make an issue of it when Obama and Duval are both on the same page?

I think Obama shows consideration and good manners. That doesn't make him weak, it makes him civil. I appreciate that in our democratic process. :thumbsup2

As far as his supporters, they understand there is yet a long way to go. :goodvibes

there was another article on this that I read showing that there were many area in NY that showed Hillary with "0" votes....I will see if I can find it:thumbsup2

[/QUOTE]

If you could find this, I'd like to read it.... I know it's late however..

Does anyone know why Washington State is having a Democratic caucus right now? I thought they had one a few weeks ago? Maybe I'm remember the Republican caucus instead? Anyhow, it's a dead heat...

To credit Clinton, she did call Obama tonight and congratulated him.

As for WA, it's a beauty contest since the delegates were awarded at the caucus a few weeks ago.

I never said he was weak. He just has a different style. If he was weak the Republicans would chew him up and spit him out. They won't.

Obama has always been gracious but he throws barbs disguised in pretty speech. I like that because it's bound to confuse the other side. :thumbsup2

I just read that about Washington, thanks for answering. Apparently she did call him, but she did not congratulate him, nor did she concede the election, so I'm curious what this short phone call was about... At least that is what is being reported.

Clinton calls Obama to Congratulate

An Obama campaign source tells NBC News that after the two speeches, Clinton called Obama to congratulate him. The conversation was described as "brief."

Nice she decided to telephone. I still hope that most politicians prefer to just be briefly gracious in public, rather than waiting to phone privately. It's so easy to just speak a few civil words, and then begin the stump speech.

"Loved your outfit tonight Hillary"
"Fabulous shoes, Barack"

Good article sums up the night in Wisconsin.

Exit Polls: Why Obama Won

"Obama chalked up his ninth straight victory and won in this predominantly white state with a strong showing across a broad spectrum of voters and by eating into Hillary Clinton's base of support. He nearly tied her among women, won on all of the issues and won every income level. He also won the white vote under-60."

...."Electability has been something both campaigns have been touting. Tonight, Obama beat Clinton soundly -- 63%- 37% -- when voters were asked who would be most likely to beat the Republican candidate in the fall.

One other note regarding the negative attacks this past week: Wisconsin Democrats took notice. When we asked if either of these candidates attacked the other unfairly, 53% said that Clinton was unfair, while only 33% said the same about Obama.

Not all is lost, however, for Clinton. She still took the senior vote, those with less than a college education and Catholics, but it was not enough to overtake Obama."

The news (MSNBC) has now said that was a congratulatory phone call, but was brief.

The news is also saying because she won the senior vote and those with less than a college education and Catholics, that Hillary still has a very good chance in Ohio.

They aren't saying it, but she's also far ahead in Rhode Island, I know it's a small state, but still she's far ahead in the poll's. Obama seems to have the lead in VT & is coming even in Texas, those are all March 4th states....

See, I don't get that because I'm 54, no undergraduate degree and not voting for Hillary in the primary. I saw a old friend the other day in the store and we discussed who we were supporting. She's white, 58, no degree and supporting Obama in the primary. We were laughing about who they might be polling since we hadn't seen each other in a long time and were both thinking the same thing. We were also marvelling over the fact that neither one of us was voting for 'the woman' since we're old bra burners. We're both uncomfortable with Hillary's vote to give W his intro to Iraq and her explanation. My friend said, "how come we knew and she didn't?" There are three Obama signs on my block. I do not have a sign. Ohio could be interesting. Btw, if Hillary wins the nomination, I'm working for her!

I would think RI is Clinton country, similar to what MA is - I saw Michelle is going to be there but I didn't look far enough on the events page to see if Obama is.
