The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

I can think of a few posters on this board that would wet themselves.

:lmao:

I think the very thought of Jeb on the ticket would energize every single Democrat and Independent that can vote in this country to walk barefoot over broken glass to the polls and gladly vote for whoever gets the Dem nod. Don't think McCain would risk it.

One thing I'm hoping for is Huckabee deciding (in his own mind) that he's popular enough for a third party run. He'll siphon enough votes away that even Hillary wouldn't have a problem beating McCain then.

My brother just mentioned this to me and it scared the beejesus out of me. Now I have not heard this bandied about at all but what if the repugs have a surprise up their sleeve? What could that be oh Karnack? Well...What if McCain named Jeb Bush as his VP???:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: He's smarter, more personable and much more dangerous than his dimwit bro. Oh, I tell you I got shivers...
pirate:

John McCain is going to pick a Bush as his VP? No, I don't think so.

Forget Jeb...it ain't gonna happen.

I hope you're right but Jeb has unbelievable pull in Florida. Since Bob Graham he is easily the most influencial person and a guarantee of carrying Florida is...Well, pretty significant. Further Jeb seems to carry the positives of the bush name but the piccadillo's (like his wife being a tax evader or his coke head daughter or his stalker son) seem to slide right off him.

I hope you're right but Jeb really scares me.

The two names that I think are potential running mates for Senator McCain are Mitt Romney or former Oklahoma congressman J.C. Watts.

I've got to come out of lurk mode long enough to say OMG! Surely no one would want to have JC as the VP? I'm from Norman, Oklahoma and we love our football players. I hate to say anything bad about them if I can help it. But that man is total SCUM. It gives me chills to think of having him in the White House. Please tell me it won't happen. Are they really throwing out his name or is that speculation?

Also don't be surprised if Senator McCain is elected President, Mayor Guiliani is nominated for either Attorney General or Director of the FBI.

Just my thoughts, nothing else.

Michael

J.C.Watts, with his illegitimate children and financial problems, wouldn't exactly be McCain's first choice.

However, he would've been good as Rudy's VP. :lmao:

Call or e-mail the DNC. Share your feelings about the FL/MI delegate mess. They might as well get an earful from you too. :thumbsup2

Yeah - they're not getting enough calls!! They've been inundated.

They have made a big mess........

::yes:: It would cause havoc at the convention and would probably lead to the Obama delegates walking out.
I'd switch party registrations and get as far away from the Democratic party as I could.
Agree.
I have never voted republican, but if the slickness of the Clintons pulled this off, I would pull the lever  for McCain.

And This will solve what??????:confused3

I guess that puts me in with the Kool-aid drinkers, 'cause for the good of the country and the Supreme Court, I'd vote for whoever the victorious Democrat was, regardless of how bloody it got.

As, I said many many mannnnny times, If SpongeBob was the Dem nominee I WILL VOTE FOR HIM!
The ONLY change I need is a PARTY CHANGE at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.:thumbsup2

Assuming that things go to pot and McCain is the next President of the US of A... is he more or less radically right wing than Bush?
Depends on the day of the week. One day he is a very Liberal man, the next day He is courting the Religious right!:confused3 One day shaking his finder at Bush, the next getting all 'brokeback' with him!
He is ONE who will say or do ANYTHING to get elected.

If McCain gets in I might as well kiss my DD's rights to her uterus good-bye. Make no mistake, Roe v Wade will be overturned if McCain is allowed to appoint people to the court.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: This cracked me up! Even though it is scarily true.

Including the super delegates? What if the majority choose Clinton - because so far she's won the the states with the larger populations......
I am so hoping for a joined ticket with a more expanded role for the VP - they need to get creative - maybe the VP can take a cabinet position too - become partners - share some of the presidential power......
And who does Obama choose - a white man? Or another woman beside Hillary? Can you see the Hillary supporters voting for that? I can tell you right now - my nose will be out of joint!
Or conversely - Hillary chooses another black man - or a white man? (Can't see her choosing another woman.......) Would Obama supporters go for that?
This is going to be sooooooooo tough!!!!

Just wait for the primaries too be over. We still have alot more to go. I think there will be a clear winner.

Count me as another that will vote for whichever one wins...

...HOWEVER...I am a firm believer in discounting the votes in Michigan and Florida. The simple fact is that the establishment candidate - and that'd be Hillary, for those not paying attention - has a huge advantage if there is no campaigning allowed. I mean, Barack's name wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan, for crying out loud (ETA: Gee...why was Hillary's, when none of the other candidates were? And how can that be a "win"?). I would again point to the posts earlier that say that the more people are exposed to Barack, the more likely they are to vote for him. He didn't have that opportunity in either of those two states. It's not about disenfranchising anyone. It's about making the contest fair for everyone involved.

If the Democratic Party includes those votes, I'll be awfully tempted to cast a grand total of one vote on election day. It will be for Hillary. As for the DNC...well, let's just say that the poor kid that called my house the other day looking for a donation got a bit of an earfull, so I doubt they'll be calling again any time soon.

The only fair way to do it would be to hold another primary or caucus in each state, and IMHO, the DNC should pay for it in total. If you can't make it to the polls, that's just too bad. I'm sure someone that couldn't make it last time will be glad to have the opportunity.

I'm dead serious about this...if they count those votes and it pushes a trailing Hillary ahead of Barack, the DNC and DCCC have seen the last dime from me they'll get until Dean is gone, at the very least.

Wasnt Obama on the Florida ballots?

I think we're getting carried away with the doomsday scenarios. McCain is one of those politicians, like Giuliani, where the more you see them, the less you like them.
Most Democrats I know couldn't care if there was a legless yellow dog running as a Democrat. They'd still vote for the Democrat. Not so with the Republicans. The Republicans ought to be the ones worrying about the right wing-nuts in their own party before they start planning McCain's inaugeration. And I don't happen to believe Huckabee is dead in the water. He took the south on super Tuesday. Romney's righties will either go to Huckabee or they'll stay home.
The right wing-nuts in the Republican party are having a grand hissy fit because they see it all slipping away from them. They're going to use 2008 as one more chance to flex their muscles.

:thumbsup2 We may be having BIG problems in the Dem party, BUT I do think this is the END for the Religious Right wing in the Republican Party. Barry Goldwater might be turning upright in his grave.

:scared1: Quick gimme a paper bag...hyperventilating here!

I'd never count Florida as a state that the Dems could count on anyway. Outside of Broward and Palm Beach Counties, it's mostly red, red, red......
Who knows the votes are never really counted correctly there!:rolleyes1

One thing I can guaran-damn-tee you about a Jeb VP run...suddenly all the Republicans who are sick and tired of seeing a Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton White House would sudden suffer a collective amnesia and welcome W's portly older brother, the Jebster, with open arms...
::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

]::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: The DNC always manages to screw sumtin up!

I know it's 1 in a million, but could you imagine the delicious irony if Rush, Coulter and Hannity's 'anyone but McCain' rhetoric led Huckabee to overtake McCain as the Republican candidate?

What do y'all think about Michigan and Florida holding a re-vote?

And yes, DISUNC, Obama was on the Florida ballot, just not the Michigan one.

As a Floridian and a registered democrat I would want a revote. I know a lot of people didn't go to the polls because they felt as if their vote didn't matter anyways (and wasn't worth it to vote for the crap on the local stuff).

I think McCain would be more likely to try to get Crist from Florida than Jeb Bush who is almost worth than his brother.

Some are saying that a re-vote would disenfranchise voters, but I would think it would make them feel better than a vote that didn't count. :confused3

No more Bush is good by me. Ever.

Hi ya'll I lurk. Nothing important to say normally but I just wanted to tell ya that I like how the google ad on top is for McCain;) I wonder if the other side has Hill:confused3 Maybe I need to start a google is bias thread so everyone knows whom to boycott:thumbsup2

I agree, no more Bush would be a blessing. It's Florida's own fault our votes don't count though at the same time (maybe we should be mad at Florida Democrat people who thought it would be smart to hold it early). I wouldn't mind a revote, but am also not against my vote not counting really.

You hit us on a good night, Tina. It's usually an Ann Coulter banner. :scared1:

Hey, sit and stay a spell sometime. Your thoughts are more than welcome here. :goodvibes

I appreciate it. I don't really have anything to add. Ya'll do a great job and honestly I don't know that I like anyone enough running to throw my support or words behind him/her.

Same here. I'm a registered democrat but actually respect McCain and think he could do a lot too. I like that he's moderate and I think its a shame he's getting flack for being the democrats favorite republican (although I find it slightly funny). But I really like Obama and he gives me hope our country can be something good again, which I miss.

I dont think there will be a revote in Fl at all, but possibly in MI!:confused3
