I get what you're saying. For the sake of the country, let's just hope it doesn't come down to the inclusion of Michigan and Florida! :thumbsup2

::yes:: It would cause havoc at the convention and would probably lead to the Obama delegates walking out.

I'd switch party registrations and get as far away from the Democratic party as I could.

Agree.
I have never voted republican, but if the slickness of the Clintons pulled this off, I would pull the lever  for McCain.

I guess that puts me in with the Kool-aid drinkers, 'cause for the good of the country and the Supreme Court, I'd vote for whoever the victorious Democrat was, regardless of how bloody it got.

I agree, but there is no way out of this for the Democratic Party where they don't lose the support of some group. It's such a mess.

Bingo - someone is going to be pissed off royally.

Which brings me to sort of a splitting the baby decision.......

What do think the odds are of a Clinton\Obama or Obama\Clinton ticket now? Given how the party is split right now?

Could either of them accept the # 2 role?

Leave it to the Democrats to shoot themselves in the foot. The door is wide open but it's starting to look like McCain can simply step over the bodies once the Democratic party implodes. Nice.

Unlikely on either. Unfortunately, I fear it's gotten too ugly for them on a personal level and there is a lot of ego involved for them and their key endorsers.

I also think the competition for each to make themselves stand out as being "different" has worked in the public eye. For two candidates that have very similar philosophies, I think many feel like they are choosing between two different parties at this point.

The democratic party has slid into some serious do do.

Not to mention that all of the upset Democrats that actually do vote for McCain will possibly end up helping to get more Conservatives on the Supreme Court plus we'll probably be in Iraq until the end of time. Some of these issues seem to be getting buried.

Give it time. There have been some pretty vicious primary and convention fights (in both parties) down through the years and somehow it all gets smoothed over in the end. Let's hope it happens here too.

I agree, but it was the DNC who made the stupid rules so in spite of annoying more groups, they should just stick with the rules they made.

Assuming that things go to pot and McCain is the next President of the US of A... is he more or less radically right wing than Bush?

Rich::

Less. He has a history of being more moderate. But still, there's no way I'd vote for him in November.

Well I guess he's a step in the right direction in that case. I'd hate the States to be ruled by anyone as extreme or - shudder - more extreme than Bush come the next election!

You can pass me a cup of Blastin' Berry Cherry, too.

While no Republican Prez would be as distasteful as the present occupant is, they would still try to cram the Supreme Court with more Thomases and Scalias which would have a greater impact on this country than any Prez's actions ever could. I can't forsee any situation dire enough where I would vote for McCain.

Oh ... I think other Republican presidents could be just as bad or worse. Imagine Bush, but with a brain. {{shudder}}. But you're right on with the Supreme Court. If McCain gets in I might as well kiss my DD's rights to her uterus good-bye. Make no mistake, Roe v Wade will be overturned if McCain is allowed to appoint people to the court.

That's reason #1 for me!

I think this is the ONLY solution!

Dont think Hillary will take #2 though. I also think that may be sending a even worse signal out there. Having a Man in #1 spot, and a woman #2!:confused3
Also as far as political backing, there are many many mannnnnnnnny favors owed the Clintons by members of the Democrat party...they may alll be called in!

At this stage, I really wont be suprised by a Clinton/Obama ticket....however there is STILL half the country that hasnt had a primary or caucus yet. So sit tight....gonna be a bumpy ride!:thumbsup2

See, I don't see it as nearly as contentious as you do. If one ended up closely beating the other, I could see common sense nudging the winner into taking the loser on as a strong #2 and creating a dream ticket for the Demcratic Party. They're both very smart people. I trust that they'd both do the right thing.

Well, he won't go after Bush or his running dogs for criminal wrong doings. He won't over turn any of Bush's 'signing statements." He'll continue the stupid foreign policy we have. Generally, he'd keep things as they are. We can't have that.
